To whom it may concern,

Recent debate on removing technology within the district has arose due to pressure

regarding student's ability to successfully pass standardized test. I solely believe this action will

be detrimental to not only the district, but the young generation we lead into this ever-changing

technology-based world. In a society reliant on technology to assist in daily task, it is important

to incorporate technology in our classrooms. Removing technology from our district is ignoring

our obligation to give our students meaningful educations that they can carrying throughout their

lives. As a teacher at ABC Community School and leader in integrating technology within

education, I stand against removing technology from the classrooms.

"In an era when technology seems to be changing almost daily, school boards,

administrators, and teachers need to revisit their technology policies almost as rapidly, education

experts advise. Internet chat rooms, online video games, and other electronic features that once

seemed inappropriate for the classroom are proving useful for meeting many educational goals.

Kids have embraced them; schools can too." I currently lead 28 children in a kindergarten class

and see how everyday technology in the slightly use along with tradition methods helps them

interactive and thrive on a more meaningful level. Technology hardware such as tablets allow

them the ability to see illustrations close up as I read during story time, see their progress in real

time, and most importantly the ability to work at their own pace. Taking away technology

deprives them of the chance to experience learning that fosters their curious nature.

Identification of Standards Summary
Standards are categorized into 3 levels of jurisdiction from district, state, and national

level. Within these levels are standards that help students achieve fluency within multiple

subjects including technology usage. CCSD performance level descriptors range from content

standards 1 through 6 in grade levels 3, 5, 8, and 12. Grade 3 focuses on locating and identifying

items, showing basic understanding. While Grade 5 and 8 focuses on demonstrating knowledge

and being able to explain elements of technology. Grade 12 focuses on the ability to demonstrate

through ones ability to create unique pieces and problem solve. Nevada Computer and

Technology Standards focus on the ability to demonstrate creativity, communication, and

research knowledge. The standards are broken down by grade levels 3, 5, 8, and 12 supporting

District standards with more precise information. Another state level standard are Common Core

Standards. These focus on certain subjects and information needed to be mastered in order to

efficiently follow through the technology standards within the national level. These standards

focus more on material that should be covered in lesson plans within certain subjects. ISTE

Standards focus on implementing District and State Standards in order to grasp basic elements

to be successful in a technology driven society. One standard example is Standard 6 Creative

Communicator. This standard focuses on using technology to successfully communicate

themselves through creativity. This standard can be an objective for Kindergarten to 12th grade

students . An example would be using a software to create a unique piece of artwork that

displays what a message of a story is.
