Dear Brothers and Sisters:
‘Are you ready? Are ready for some football? As the Super Bow! Lil Champion Philadelphia Eagles attempt to
defend their title this fall, a lot will be going on at the Claymont Moose.
First, | hope everyone had an excellent summer, enjoying concerts, staying cool and vacationing with family.
Gary Cooke and | had the privilege to represent the Ciaymont Lodge at the International Moose Convention in
New Orleans in July. We could not have been more proud as Claymont 847 was announced to have earned the
Premier Lodge Award for 2017-2018, making it an incredible 7 years in @ row. Unbelievable! We should all accept
responsibilty for this great feat. Thank you all for making the Claymont Moose a fun and exciting place to come to
‘The Lodge will be having an Eagles Game Day Raffle as our fall fundraiser. Included in this $500 value will
be two first-level-Section 116 tickets, parking pass, tailgate items, food and drinks, and a guaranteed victory over the
Houston Texans... starting in early October, raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each or $10 for 3 tickets and the winner's
‘name will be drawn at the Lodge's Thanksgiving Eve Celebration. Also this fall will be the pool league, the 10” Annual
‘Timmy Speakman Crab Feast, Halloween Parties, Thanksgiving Eve Moose Races and our Christmas parties. Throw
in the Association Annual Convention and it's even busier. And Congratulations to Claymont Chapter 186 as they
received the Award of Achievement for 2017-2018 and have been nominated again for the Outstanding Chapter
of the Year.
On a more solemn note, our inner circle has been broken several times these past months. Starting with
Drew Brechemin, John Kokoszka, John Leonard, Leonard Majeski, and longtime officer and gentleman, John Fowler.
Bottom line.....Enjoy Life! And please come out and hang out with your friends and family at the Claymont
Moose Lodge.
Fratemally,
‘Andrew Zeager
Dear Brothers and Sisters
It is hard to believe that another summer has come and gone and how quickly the year is flying by. | hope
‘everyone had a great one and was able to join us for some of our many activities and fundraisers that were held
(chicken BBQ, start and end of summer parties, steak and rib nights as well as our annual clam bake and Timmy
‘Speakman memorial crab feast to name a few).
Do not feel sad if you have missed any of these or fee! that all the fun is over. We are now entering a new
season and we have a number of things planned for the months to come. The holidays are starting and the
Halloween grab bags will be back. There will be Moose races on Thanksgiving Eve, the children’s and adult
Christmas parties and much more. Please look at the Calendar of Events at the end of the newsletter for the
specifics for these as well as other planned activities.
‘The annual MD-DE-DC Moose Association Conference will be held this year in Ocean City MD at the
Princess Royale from 10/18/18 to 10/21/18 and several of us will be attending. | wanted to share with you that
we have qualified as one of the Top Honor Chapters for the 2017-2018 Chapter Year. We will not find out until
the sessions in what order we have placed. | look forward to sharing with you what place we have eamed upon
my return.
In closing, | hope you will continue to support our Lodge and Chapter by volunteering whenever possible.
We can always use a pair of helping hands to sell rafle tickets, help with Thursday sandwiches or Friday night dinners
(prepping, serving, cleaning and especially cooking). These are the actives that enable us Keep us going as well as
Provide the much-needed support to Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
