“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those who
are with him are severe against disbelievers and
merciful among themselves…”
The Prophet, (sm), said:
ً
‫املؤمن للمؤمن اكبلنيان يشد بعضه بعضا" وشبك بني أصابعه‬
“The believer with respect to another believer is like a
building, one portion strengthening the other.” (al-
Bukhari & Muslim)
But this great brotherhood of Islam is not something
theoretical. It is, in fact, well defined by practical
guidance.
It has specific rights and obligations that are spelled
out in the Quran and Sunnah. These rights and
obligations are due to every Muslim, of every time and
place.
(1) Love:
One of the necessary aspects of this brotherhood is
love. It is an obligation upon all Muslims to love their
brother Muslims in a manner similar to the way they
care for themselves. َ As the َ Prophet,
ْ َ ُّ ُ َ َ َ ْ ‫ى‬
َ ‫ أو قال ِِل‬- ‫ُيب أل ِخي ِه‬ ُ
. " ‫ُيب ِِلف ِس ِه‬
ِ ‫ ما‬- ِ‫اره‬
ِ ِ
“None of you truly believes until he loves for his
brother or he said "for his neighbor what he loves for
himself.” (Muslim)
(2) Mutual support
Second necessary aspect of this brotherhood is mutual
support, aid and assistance.
When any of his Muslim brother is in difficulties he
comes to assist him with his wealth and soul, if
possible. This is described in many verses, for example
Allah says in Surah al-Maidah, v.2:
َّ ُ ‫سول‬ ‫ّللاَ إِنَّ ه‬ ‫ان َوا َّتقُو ْا ه‬
ُ ‫ُّم َح َّم ٌد َّر‬ َ‫ّللا‬ ِ ‫بر َوال َّت ْق َوى َوالَ َت َع َاو ُنو ْا َعلَى اإلِ ْث ِم َوا ْل ُعدْ َو‬
ِّ ‫َو َت َع َاو ُنو ْا َعلَى ا ْل‬
ِ ‫شدِي ُد ا ْل ِع َقا‬
‫ب‬ َ “and help one another in goodness and piety,
and do not help one another in sin and aggression”.1
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the prophet (‫)ﷺ‬
said: ‫هللاُ فِي ع َْو ِن اَ ْل َع ْب ِد َما َكانَ اَ ْل َع ْب ُد فِي ع َْو ِن أَ ِخي ِه‬
‫ َو َ ه‬Allah helps His
slave as long as he helps his brother.”.2
(3) mercy and tenderness between the

A third essential aspect of this Islamic brotherhood is
mercy and tenderness between the believers.
It means that each Muslim brother feels in his heart for
what his brother is going through.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has given an example for
that in a Hadith reported by Nu'man bin Bashir:
Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said,
‫ مثل الجسد إذا اشتكى منه‬،‫مثل المؤمنين في توادهم وتراحمهم وتعاطفهم‬
‫"عضو تداعى له سائر الجسد بالسهر والحمى‬The believers in their
mutual love, mercy, kindness, compassion and
sympathy, are just like one body. When one of the
(sm),َ ُ said:
‫ى‬ َ ْ ُ ُ َ ُْ َ
‫َّت‬ ‫ح‬ ‫م‬ ‫ك‬ ‫د‬ ‫ح‬ ‫أ‬ ‫ن‬ ‫م‬
ِ ‫ؤ‬ ‫ال ي‬

َّ ‫َان الَّذِينَ َيقُولُونَ رَ َّب َنا أَخ ِرج َنا مِن هَـ ِذ ِه ال َقر َي ِة‬
“And what is wrong with you that you fight not in the Cause of Allah, and for those weak, ill-treated and oppressed among men,
ِ ‫ال َوال ِّنسَاء وَ ال ِولد‬ ِ ّ ‫يل‬
ِ َ‫للا َوالمُس َتضعَ فِينَ مِنَ الرِّ ج‬ ِ ِ‫وَ مَا لَ ُكم لَ ُت َقاتِلُونَ فِي سَب‬
women and children, whose cry is, ‘Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors, and raise for us from You
one who will protect, and raise for us from You one who will help.’”

‫ واَّلل ِِف‬,ِ‫ سَته اَّلل ِِف ادلنيا واْلخِ رة‬,‫ ومن سَت مس ِلما‬,ِ‫ يَّس اَّلل علي ِه ِِف ادلنيا واْلخِ رة‬,‫َّس‬ ْ َ َ ُ‫َى َ َ ى‬ ْ ُ َ َ َ ‫ُ ْ َ ً ْ ُ َ َ ُّ ْ َ َ ى َ َ ى ُ َ ْ ُ ُ ْ َ ً ْ ُ َ َ ْ َ ْ َ َ َ َ ْ َ ى‬
ٍ ِ ‫ ومن يَّس لَع مع‬, ‫ نفس اَّلل عنه كربة مِن كر ِب يومِ ال ِقيام ِة‬,‫من نفس عن مؤم ٍِن كربة مِن كر ِب ادلنيا‬
ُْ ْ َ َ ‫َ ْ َى‬
ُ ْ َ َ

. )1924( .‫“ َع ْو ِن ال َعبْدِ َما َكن ال َعبْ ُد ِِف َع ْو ِن أخِ ي ِه } أخ َر َجه ُم ْس ِل ٌم‬If anyone relieves a Muslim believer from one of the hardships of this worldly life, Allah
will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. If anyone makes it easy for the one who is indebted to him
(while finding it difficult to repay), Allah will make it easy for him in this worldly life and in the Hereafter, and if anyone conceals the
faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah helps His slave as long as he helps his
brother.” Related by Muslim.

(1) When you meet him, offer him greetings; to one another. Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet

(3) when he seeks your sincere counsel, give it to

(4) when he sneezes and says, ‘al-hamdulillah,’ say, ‫اء‬ ‫ب‬
ِ ‫ب ال ِغل وتهادوا تابوا وتذه‬ ِ ‫تصافحوا يذه‬
‘Yarhamukallah May Allah show mercy to you’; Shake hands and rancor will disappear.
(5) when he falls ill, visit him; Exchange gifts and you will love one another and
(6) and when he dies, follow his funeral bier.” enmity will disappear.

‫تهاد ْوا فإِن الهدِية تذه ُِب َوح َر الصد ِر‬

‫(‪ )8‬اللهم اقسم لنا من خشيتك ما‬
‫)‪I am a messenger to you from, Allah: (to inform you‬‬
‫‪that Allah loves you as you love him (for His sake).‬‬ ‫(‪ )9‬اللهم إ ّنا نسألك موجبات رحمتك وعزائم مغفرتك والسالمة من ُك ِّل إِ ْثم‬
‫والغنيمة ِمن ُك ِّل بر والفوز بالجنة ‪ ،‬والنجاة من النار‬
‫‪In addition to all of these positive acts,‬‬ ‫(‪ )10‬اللهم إنا نسألك من الخير كله عاجله وآجله ما علمنا منه وما لم أعلم‪،‬‬
‫‪when one avoids the forbidden acts, like backbiting,‬‬ ‫ونعوذ بك من الشر كله عاجله وآجله ما علمنا منه وما لم نعلم‪.‬‬
‫‪slandering, lying, cheating, spying and so forth, nothing‬‬ ‫(‪ )11‬اللهم إنا نسألك الجنة وما قرب إليها من قول أو عمل‪ ،‬ونعوذ بك من‬
‫‪but good will result from the avoidance.‬‬ ‫النار وما قرب إليها من قول أو عمل‪.‬‬
‫‪Thus, social cohesion among Muslims is definitely one‬‬ ‫(‪ )12‬اللهم إنا نسألك علما ً نافعا ً وفهما كامال وعمال متقبال ورزقا واسعا حالال‬
‫‪of the most sought-after-goals in Islam.‬‬ ‫طيبا‬
‫(‪ )13‬اللهم إنا نسألك إيمانا كامال ويقينا صادقا وقلبا خاشعا ولسانا ذاكرا‬

‫فاستغروه إنه هو الغفور الرحيم‬
‫َوشَماتَ ِة األَ ْعدَا ِء‬

‫(‪ )17‬الله هم إنها نعوذ بكَ ِمنَ ا ْل َه ِّم َوا ْل َحزَ ِن‪َ ،‬وا ْل َع ْج ِز َوا ْل َك َ‬
‫الحمد ّلل على إحسانه‪ ،‬والشكر له على توفيقه وامتنانه‪ ،‬وأشهد أن ال إله إال هللا‬ ‫ال‬ ‫ضلَ ِع ال هد ْي ِن‪َ ،‬و َغلَبَ ِة ِّ‬
‫الر َج ِ‬ ‫َو َ‬
‫(‪ )18‬الل ُه هم إنا نعوذ بك من الشقاق والنفاق‪ ،‬ونعوذ بك من سوء األخالق‪.‬‬ ‫ه‬
‫وحده ال شريك له تعظيما لشأنه‪ ،‬وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله الداعي إلى‬
‫رضوانه‪ ،‬الهادي إلى إحسانه‪ ،‬صلى هللا عليه وعلى آله وأصحابه وأعوانه‬ ‫اكشف الغمة عن هذه األمة اللهم‬ ‫(‪ )19‬اللهم أعز اِلسالم والمسلمين ‪،‬اللهم ِ‬
‫وسلم تسليما كثيرا‪ .‬أما بعد‪ :‬فيا عباد هللا‬ ‫أصلح أحوال هذه األمة‬
‫إن هللا أمركم بأمر بدأ فيه نفسه وثنى بمالئكته المقدسة بقدسه وثلث بكم أيها‬ ‫(‪ )20‬اللهم انصر المسلمين المستضعفين في كل مكان‪،‬‬
‫المؤمنون من إنسه وجنه فقال قوال كريما‬ ‫(‪ )21‬اللهم وفق والة أمور المسلمين إلى الحكم بشريعتك واتباع سنة نبيك‪،‬‬
‫ِّ‬ ‫ُّ‬ ‫َ‬ ‫اللهم اجعلهم رحمة على عبادك‪.‬‬

‫صلوا َعل ْي ِه َو َ‬ ‫صلُّونَ َعلَى النهبِ ِّي يَا أيُّ َها ال ِذينَ آ َمنوا َ‬

‫سلِيماً) (األحزاب ‪) 56 :‬‬ ‫(‪ )22‬اللهم انصر من نصر دين محمد واجعلنا منهم‬

‫ا ْل َكافِ ِرينَ‬
‫ان َو َال ت َْج َع ْل فِي قُلُوبِنَا ِغ هالً‬ ‫(‪َ )5‬ربهنَا ا ْغفِ ْر لَنَا َو ِ ِِل ْخ َوانِنَا اله ِذينَ َ‬

‫لِّله ِذينَ آ َمنُوا َربهنَا إِنهكَ َر ُءوفٌ هر ِحي ٌم‬
