Calculation of Wind load:
Design wind speed = 50 m/sec
Max height of structure = 12 m
2
So horizontal wind pressure, Pz = 1500 N/m [Ref: IRC 6-2017: Cl No 209.2 Table 12]

Depth of plate girder = 1.5 m
Cic distance of two girder = 2.5 m
Drag co-efficient, CD= 2.375
Total depth of obstructed area including girder, slab etc = 2.75 m
Total length of obstructed area = 31 m
2
Obstructed area =31x2.75= 85.25 m
Transverse wind force for super structure, FT = 60.74 T
2
Obstructed area for pier cap = 5m
2
Obstructed area for pier = 12 m
Transverse wind force for sub-structure, FT = 12.113 T
No live load shall be considered during wind loading as the design wind speed is greater than 36 m/sec [Ref: IRC 6-2017: Cl No 209.3.7]
Total horizontal force for transverse wind = 72.85 T << 264.88 T(horizontal force in Transeverse Seismic)

=0.7696x3.14x0.25x108.75^2x100 = 714.85 kN

Now the embedded length of pile, Le = 33 m

Transverse wind force for super structure, FT = 60.74 T
2
Obstructed area for pier cap = 5m
2
Obstructed area for pier = 12 m
Transverse wind force for sub-structure, FT = 12.113 T
No live load shall be considered during wind loading as the design wind speed is greater than 36 m/sec [Ref: IRC 6-2017: Cl No 209.3.7]
Total horizontal force for transverse wind = 72.85 T << 264.88 T(horizontal force in Transeverse Seismic)

Calculation of Wind load:
Design wind speed = 50 m/sec
Max height of structure = 12 m
2
So horizontal wind pressure, Pz = 1500 N/m [Ref: IRC 6-2017: Cl No 209.2 Table 12]
Gust factor , G = 2 [Ref: IRC 6-2017: Cl No 209.3.3]
Depth of plate girder = 1.5 m
Cic distance of two girder = 2.5 m
Drag co-efficient, CD= 2.375
Total depth of obstructed area including girder, slab etc = 2.75 m
Total length of obstructed area = 31 m
2
Obstructed area =31x2.75= 85.25 m
Transverse wind force for super structure, FT = 60.74 T
2
Obstructed area for pier cap = 5m
2
Obstructed area for pier = 12 m
Transverse wind force for sub-structure, FT = 12.113 T
No live load shall be considered during wind loading as the design wind speed is greater than 36 m/sec [Ref: IRC 6-2017: Cl No 209.3.7]
Total horizontal force for transverse wind = 72.85 T << 264.88 T(horizontal force in Transeverse Seismic)
The piles are checked under the critical load case i.e. Seismic Load.

\ Shear capacity of pile (considering concrete section only i.e. ignoring shear capacity of links)
=0.76886x3.14x0.25x108.75^2x100 = 714.16 kN
T = 4.6399812 m
Now the embedded length of pile, Le = 31 m
[Ref: Revised Soil Report prepared by North East Engineers]
Le> 4R Hence the pile will act as long pile and fig. 2 of above referred code is valid for above pile.
Length of pile above G.L., L1= 0m
\ L1/T = 0
From fig. 2 (Determination of depth of fixity) of IS:2911 (Part I/Sec. 2) – 2010
Lf/T = 2.2 i.e Lf = 10.208 m Taking Lf = 10.3 m

Table 4 of Annexure C of IS2911 ( referred for preloaded caly) but the table given as general
clay property for Unconfined Compressive Strength and corresponding Modulus of Subgrade Recation
Note below Table 4 -NOTE —" For qu less than 25, k1 may be taken as zero,
which implies that there is no lateral resistance."
So in this case the cohesion is very low which can not be regarded as Preloaded Clay.
It may be noted that this soil in our case is C-Φ soil
It is also to be noted that long pile has very high resistance against yielding of soil due to infinite passive resistance.
[Reference :Pile Design and Construction Practice-M.J.Tomlinson,]
"Ultimate resistance of long piles
The passive resistance provided by the soil to the yielding of an infinitely long pile is infinite. Thus the ultimate lateral load
which can be carried by the pile is determined solely from the ultimate moment of resistance Mu of the pile shaft."
