National Grid Corporation of the Phillippines

An analysis of the Week Ahead Program: Mar 5 - 11, 2010.

Luzon Grid:
Peak demand this week is expected to reach 6890 MW. The system reserve level will continue to be
lean during the week ahead with no dispatchable reserve available mainly due to the following
events;
o Continued shutdown of Malampaya SPEXup to Mar 11 for maintenance of its facilities.

o Shutdown of Sta Rita M30 and Ml0 until Mar 7 for maintenance.

o Shutdown of lIijan Block A until Mar 11 for maintenance. Shutdown of lIijan Block B until
Mar 7.

o Forced outage of BCF U2 until Mar 12 due to boiler tube leak.

It is expected that the Malaya plant units 1 and 2 will be operational during the week to augment the
power supply.

Visayas Grid:
Non-coincident peak demand for Cebu-Negros-Panay (CNP) Grid this week is forecasted to reach
1022 MW, Leyte-Samar Grid at 172 MW and Bohol grid at 53 MW. HVDC export to CNP will average
313 MW in the coming week. System reserve will continue to be thin this week in spite of the
continuing reliability test of CEDC Ul due to the shutdown of CTPP U2 for maintenance. MLD is
expected during the week due to the continuing low voltage problem in the CNP region.

Mindanao Grid:
System load is anticipated to reach 1459 MW in the coming week. System deficiency is expected to
drop to an average of 688 MW due to the following;

o Hydro plant capabilities average 210 MW only during the coming week

o Continued outage of WMPC units with a one-at-a-time maintenances.

o Maintenance shutdown of Agus 7 U2 and Agus 4 U4 during the week.

Probability of MLD is likely this week due to the continuing generation deficiency in the region.
