for an aircraft by using CAD software (CatiaV5) as the design tool. Specific size
features with existing aircraft are factors need to be considered in the design
process. This conceptual design develops the first general size and configuration
programmed which is based on the finite element method. Structural and modal
analyses were performed using stringers and bulk head of a fuselage. A cylindrical
shell is assumed as the design space and aerospace standard pay loads were
optimization is done using Finite Element (FE) based software (Hypermesh). This
optimization results in the structural concept design which satisfies all the design
I wish to thank our beloved Principal Dr. L. RAJAJI M.E., Ph.D. for the
facilities made available for progress and completion of this project.
I thank all our teaching and non-teaching staff members of the Mechanical
Engineering department for their passionate support, for helping us to identify our
mistakes and for the appreciation; they gave us in achieving our goal. I would like
to record our deep sense of gratitude to our family members and friends for their
constant encouragement and support, which motivated us to complete our project
on time.
