activists are pressuring a Calgary bishop to re a priest after he spoke out against the rainbow
pride ag.
In February, Fr. Jerome Lavigne, vicar of education for the diocese of Calgary in Alberta, gave a
homily titled "The Rainbow," on the origins of the gay pride ag.
"Globally, that symbol serves to represent, promote, to promulgate, to defend at all costs,
lawlessness," Lavigne said, adding that the origins of the ag are satanic.

In a statement issued to Church Militant, the diocese noted that Bp. William McGrattan directed
Fr. Lavigne to take down his homily in July. The statement continued:

The review of Fr. Lavigne's homily recognized that the reading from the Book of
Genesis expanded to include some re ections on homosexuality. However, these
re ections did not fully capture that we are all created by God and He loves us all
so that each person receives from God their inherent dignity.
The Catholic Church advocates that we live together in an atmosphere of peace,

safety and respect for the dignity of one another regardless of age, ancestry,
body image, culture, sexual orientation and religion.
Church Militant contacted Lavigne, who said all media queries had to go through the
communications o ce of the diocese.
The LGBT community also took o ense at Fr. Lavigne's "Origins of Evil" homily he gave in
September, where he said that "there's no such thing as 'God made me this way'" regarding
homosexuality. The Star Calgary (https://www.thestar.com/calgary/2018/12/20/calgary-priest-
under- re-for-homophobic-remarks.html) reported that the video was deleted after it sent a
media query to Fr. Lavigne.
It was this recent comment that inspired gay activists to call for the diocese of Calgary to
apologize and to re Fr. Lavigne.
Jack Fonseca, director of political operations at Canada's Campaign Life Coalition, spoke with
Church Militant about Lavigne's situation, calling out the tyranny of the liberal Left. (/donate)
"Father Lavigne did absolutely nothing wrong," Fonseca told Church Militant. "I think gay
activists are feigning mock outrage in order to achieve a political goal of silencing the Church."
Fonseca said his homily "was fully in accordance with Christian theology and moral doctrine"
and praised the priest for ful lling the obligation that every priest has to preach against sin and
to help his ock attain eternal life.
The Church's teachings on the nature of homosexuality supported by the medical community.
Licensed psychologist Dr. Laura Haynes, explained that there are numerous studies

the "born that way and can't change" theory of homosexuality and gender identity.
The American Psychological Association's Handbook of Sexuality and Psychology says, "The

inconvenient reality ... is that social behaviors are always jointly determined by nature, nurture
and opportunity." The co-editor of the handbook, Dr. Lisa Diamond, a self-avowed lesbian,
notes that in reality, sexual orientation and gender identity are uid and changeable.
"It would be a catastrophe if Bp. McGrattan caved to these little fascist despots and
surrendered the Church's right to preach the Gospel," Fonseca said. "To do so, on the part of
the bishop, would send a message to all other priests in the diocese, and across the country,
that they must refrain from preaching on the sinfulness of the homosexual lifestyle and LGBT
ideology."

Fonseca expressed disappointment that the bishop ordered the homily taken down: "The
Church has every right to preach what it believes and that homily could have served as a great
teaching opportunity for other priests."
"Do not punish, as the hate- lled gay lobby is demanding, but rather, defend your faithful
priest and reward him," Fonseca said. "This is the sort of man who has what it takes to be a
good bishop some day — courage, zeal for souls and genuine pastoral concern for all to enter
Heaven."
The understanding of the origin and meaning of the gay pride ag isn't well-known. The gay
pride's use of the rainbow ag has been attributed to drag queen Gilbert Baker (/donate)

each with symbolic meaning: sex (hot pink), life (red), healing (orange), sunlight (yellow), nature
(green), art (turquoise), harmony/peace (indigo/blue), and spirit (purple/violet)."
After Harvey Milk, a gay activist and pederast, was assassinated in November 1978, a San
Franciso-based company began selling their surplus stock of rainbow ags they had made for a
Masonic youth service group, the International Order of Rainbow Girls. In 1979, the ags
ordered for the Gay Freedom Day Parade didn't include the indigo stripe, representing
harmony and peace, or the hot pink stripe, representing sex; the hot pink fabric was apparently
rare and expensive.

can to claim God's people for himself," Mainwaring wrote.
He said underneath it all is a "mocking proclamation" that the natural law, reason and the
common good can be banished for the "outrageous notion of genderless marriage."

This priest Fr. Lavigne is so smart. He approached the topic with
great tact, sensitivity, subtlety, and covertly; yet without avoiding it
altogether. He simply criticized SIN in our life and how we became
numb and desensitized to it. He did NOT utter One word against
LGBT at all in all his homily.
Great job, though as a confrontational person, I prefer a more

direct, straightforward, outspoken approach.
Hope more (clergies & laity) will be inspired by him and will be even
as Bold as lion.🐅

blind? Do they not see the destruction of mankind in all of these

The sermon was taken down, which means the bishop already
capitulated to the gay lobby and forced the priest to do likewise.
Those unfamiliar with the Church in Canada should know that
McGrattan was appointed to the episcopate because he fits into the

for souls. Even those souls that are prosecuting him now because
the truth is too hard to handle from the lgbt cult of "tolerance."

I heard through the grapevine and I believe it was in a local
religious newspaper several years ago, there was a Bishop in
western Canada who spoke from the pulpit about being against
same sex marriage and abortion and then received a letter from
Ottawa saying he had to stop or the Charitable # would be revoked.
This was hear-say, so I don't have any further details but things did
seem to quiet down after. ?

More evidence that some of our hierarchy are more concerned
about pandering to a few then supporting the greater Catholic
population who have fidelity to traditional teachings and doctrine of
our Holy Catholic Church. I believe they are intimidated by a few
outspoken members of the gay community and feel confident that
the traditional orthodoxy Catholics will remain silent, as we always
have in the past. Hopefully, we are overcoming our timidity and
pushing back as we rightfully should, if not we are caving into the
modernists doctrine of undermining traditional Catholic doctrine.

Coalition for this article; they have a reputation for being extremely
out of touch and difficult to work with, and they barely even have an
active presence in Alberta.
The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) would have

across Canada and have taken very strong action against this kind
of censorship in the past.

I would not object to the claim that "God made me this way."
People are born blind, or with Dow syndrome, or develop
schizophrenia later on in life due to our fallen human nature; these
are punishments for original sin. We Catholics believe that with
earthly suffering accepted with humility, we help to carry Jesus'
cross so that more and more people may cooperate with His
Redemption. Aberrant sexuality is such a cross and heterosexual
people should give thanks for their normal inclination and not take it
for granted.

I only meant that if I believe that God created me,
then I also believe that due to original sin, He may

also burden me with physical defects, or with all

There was never a question of homosexual activity
being seriously sinful. The question was where does
the inclination come from, is it inborn or does it
develop later? The inclination itself is not sinful! The
Church says that "Its psychological genesis remains
largely unexplained."CCC2357. I understand that
every human being is in effect created by God via its
parents' procreating act. The homosexual inclination
must come from somewhere and I do believe that it
is not a choice, the young person is simply aware of
a sexual attraction to a member of the same sex.
Now whether the person acts on it, that is a choice.
Hopefully medical science will find our more about it
as time goes by.

I don't know, but I think that it could be a

consequence of the original sin AND our own
personal sins, yours, mine, everybody's. In
other words, to some degree we might all be
responsible.
If you remember when David sinned with

Bathsheba, the child struggled to live for
seven days but still died. In other words, our
personal sins affect others. This is not
surprising since there is only one Body and
we are all members of that Body. To put it
another way, if I had not fallen yesterday, my
brother might not have fallen today.
I have great compassion for anyone afflicted

with these tendencies. Even the way they
dress, their make up, wigs, horns and
outrageous attire seem to be a sign of a deep
affliction of body and spirit.
But like I said, I don't know.

If you listen to the people who belong to
"Courage" as they tell their personal stories,
all of the them were either sexually abused or
had a mother or father who did not fulfill their
roles. There was always an outside influence
of some kind. A friend of mine has a
granddaughter who is a lesbian. Her parents
were on drugs and literally beat each other
up and she witnessed that. She saw that
maybe male and female was not good. So,
those are also things that can happen. Now,
unfortunately the schools are teaching kids
that it is Ok and they can experiment. That is
also abuse and can lead these kids in the
wrong direction. Not born that way. It is
actually more mental than it is physical.

outside influences have a lot to do with
abnormal sexuality. But it cannot be the
whole answer either because we do not have
merely same-sex attraction but we also have
bisexuals, transgenders, and so-called
"queers" who do not wish to belong to either
sex. I think there must also be a
psychosexual confusion in their emotional-
mental makeup. Why does a little boy want to
dress up as a girl? My son never did. I also
think that it is rather weird if grown men with
families (not entertainers) occasionally dress
up as women (e.g. former NYC mayor
Giuliani or the Nazi Goehring). I heard of a
case where the father, after coming home
from work, would change into female
clothing. And his family let him do it. What he
did was not a sin but it was definitely not
normal.

"Be thou perfect as your heavenly Father is
perfect." We have to trust the Church to
explain such things. Scripture cannot change,
but Canon Law and Tradition can, and has,

loan was strictly forbidden for a long time, or
marrying a Jew in a Catholic church. And
Jesus did say: whatever you bind or loose on
earth, will be bound or loosed in heaven. So if
Pope Francis looses something, will it also be

more severe result for the whole Catholic

happened there?

Every child has a different personality. Maybe
she was a middle child and didn't get the

sexually. They have found no gay gene. Ellen
