1.3 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's technical data for air distribution equipment,
including capacity ratings, fan performance curves with operating point clearly
indicated, gages and finishes of materials, dimensions, weights, furnished
accessories, and installation and instructions.

B. Shop Drawings: Submit manufacturer's assembly type shop drawings indicating


dimensions, required clearances, installation details and field connection details.

C. Wiring Diagrams: Submit the manufacturer's electrical requirements for power


supply wiring to the units.

D. Operation and Maintenance Data: Submit maintenance and lubrication


instructions, motor and drive replacement instructions, and spare parts list for
each unit.

E. Spare Parts List: Submit the manufacturer's spare parts list for ventilation
equipment for a period of 2 years for the Engineer's review and approval.

1.4 TRANSPORTATION, HANDLING AND STORAGE

A. Deliver materials to the site in manufacturer's original factory wrappings and


containers, clearly labeled for identification of manufacturer, brand name and
contents. Store materials off ground in original undamaged packages and
containers, inside well-ventilated area protected from weather, moisture, soiling,
extreme temperatures, and humidity. Follow manufacturer's recommendations
regarding the transportation, handling and storage of materials.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Motors and electrical accessories shall comply with the applicable NEMA
Standards.

B. Electrical components and installation shall comply with NFPA 70 - National


Electrical Code.

1.6 WARRANTY

A. Submit a written guarantee signed by manufacturer and installer agreeing to


replace systems or equipment which fail in material or workmanship within a
period of 1 year from the date of substantial handing over.

00PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 GENERAL:

A. The design, manufacture and installation of the ventilating fans shall meet the
requirements of AMCA 300, ASHRAE 51/210 or EUROVENT and shall be listed
and labeled by UL. Fans shall be licensed to bear AMCA Seal for sound and air
performance. Fans shall be provided with speed controller (where required) to
perform the duty as mentioned on schedules. The fans shall be selected such
that the sound levels within the area will not exceed the specified levels. Each
fan shall be equipped with disconnect switch, backdraft damper (except for
kitchen exhaust fans) and bird screen. Fans shall be of sizes, types and
capacities as shown on the drawings.

B. Roof-Mounted Centrifugal Exhaust Fans:

1. Spun aluminum exhaust fans shall be belt drive/direct drive type as shown
on drawings. The fan wheel shall be centrifugal backward inclined,
constructed of aluminum and shall include a wheel cone carefully matched
to the inlet cone for precise running tolerances. Wheels shall be statically
and dynamically balanced. The fan housing shall be constructed of heavy
duty gauge aluminum with a rigid internal support structure and a
birdscreen.

2. Motors shall be heavy duty ball bearing type, carefully matched to the fan
load, and furnished at the specified voltage, phase and enclosure. Drive
frame assembly shall be constructed of heavy duty gauge steel. Motors and
drives shall be mounted on vibration isolators, out of the airstream. Fresh
air for motor cooling shall be drawn into the motor compartment through a
large space between the fan shroud and the motor cover. Motors and
drives shall be readily accessible for maintenance.

3. Precision ground and polished fan shafts shall be mounted in permanently


sealed, lubricated pillow block ball bearings. Bearings shall be selected for
a minimum (L10) life in excess of 100,000 hours at maximum cataloged
operating speed. Drives shall be sized for a minimum of 150% of driven
horsepower. Pulleys shall be of the cast type, keyed and securely attached
to the wheel and motor shafts.

4. Motor pulleys shall be adjustable for final system balancing. A disconnect


switch shall be factory installed and wired from the fan motor to a junction
box installed within the motor compartment. A conduit chase shall be
provided through the base to the motor compartment for ease of electrical
wiring.

5. All fans shall bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for sound and air
performance. Each fan shall bear a permanently affixed manufacturer’s
engraved metal nameplate containing the model number and individual
serial number for future identification. Ratings, type and size of fans shall
be as indicated on Drawings. Exhaust fans shall be Model GB, G or GB-HP
as manufactured by GREENHECK or approved equal.

C. Roof-Mounted Up-Blast Exhaust Fans (Kitchen Exhaust Fan):

1. Spun aluminum exhaust fans shall be centrifugal direct/belt driven type.

The fan wheel shall be centrifugal backward inclined, constructed of
aluminum and shall include a wheel cone carefully matched to the inlet
cone for precise running tolerances. Wheels shall be statically and
dynamically balanced. The fan housing shall be constructed of heavy
gauge aluminum with a rigid internal support structure. A leakproof fan
housing shall be constructed with a one piece windband with an integral
rolled bead for added strength and shall be joined to the curbcap with a
continuously welded seam.

2. Motors shall be heavy duty ball bearing type, carefully matched to the fan
load, and furnished at the specified voltage, phase and enclosure. Drive
frame assembly shall be constructed of heavy gauge steel. Motors and
drives shall be mounted on vibration isolators, out of the airstream. Fresh
air for motor cooling shall be drawn into the motor compartment through a
tube free of discharge contaminants. Motors and drives shall be readily
accessible for maintenance.

3. Precision ground and polished fan shafts shall be mounted in permanently


sealed, lubricated pillow block ball bearings. Bearings shall be selected for
a minimum (L10) life in excess of 100,000 hours at maximum cataloged
operating speed. Drives shall be sized for a minimum of 150% of driven
horsepower. Pulleys shall be of the cast type, keyed and securely attached
to the wheel and motor shafts.

4. Motor pulleys shall be adjustable for final system balancing. A disconnect

shall be as indicated on Drawings. Exhaust fans shall be Model CUBE,
CUBE-HP, or CUBE-XP as manufactured by GREENHECK or approved
equal.

D. IN-LINE CABINET FANS (BELT DRIVEN - DUCT MOUNTED TYPE)

1. Duct mounted supply, exhaust or return fans shall be of the centrifugal belt
driven in-line type. The fan housing shall be of the square design constructed
of heavy galvanized steel and shall include square duct mounting collars. Fan
construction shall include two removable access panels located perpendicular
to the motor mounting panel. The access panels must of sufficient size to
permit easy access to all interior components.

2. The fan wheel shall be centrifugal backward inclined, constructed of


aluminum and shall include a wheel cone carefully matched to the inlet cone
for precise running tolerances. Wheels shall be statically and dynamically
balanced. Motors shall be heavy duty ball bearing type, carefully matched to
the fan load and furnished at the specified voltage, phase and enclosure.
Motors and drives shall be mounted out of the airstream. Motors shall be
readily accessible for maintenance.

3. Precision ground and polished fan shafts shall be mounted in permanently
sealed, lubricated pillow block ball bearings. Bearings shall be selected for a
minimum (L50) life in excess of 200,000 hours at maximum cataloged
operating speed. Drives shall be sized for a minimum of 150% of driven
horsepower. Pulleys shall be of the fully machined cast iron type, keyed and
securely attached to the wheel and motor shafts.

4. Motor pulleys shall be adjustable for final system balancing. A NEMA 1


disconnect switch shall be provided as standard, except with explosion
resistant motors, where disconnects are optional. Factory wiring shall be
provided from motor to the handy box.

5. All fans shall bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for both sound and air
performance. Each fan shall bear a permanently affixed manufacturer's
nameplate containing the model number and individual serial number for
future identification. Fans shall be of type and capacity as shown on the
drawings.

E. IN-LINE CABINET FANS (DIRECT DRIVEN - DUCT MOUNTED TYPE):

1. Duct mounted supply, exhaust or return fans shall be of the centrifugal direct
driven in-line type. The fan housing shall be of the square design constructed
of heavy galvanized steel and shall include square duct mounting collars. Fan
construction shall include two removable access panels located perpendicular
to the motor mounting panel. The access panels must of sufficient size to
permit easy access to all interior components.

2. The fan wheel shall be centrifugal backward inclined, constructed of

balanced. Motors shall be permanently lubricated and carefully matched to
the fan loads. Direct drive motors shall be mounted in the airstream. Motors
shall be readily accessible for maintenance.

3. A NEMA 1 disconnect switch shall be provided as standard, except with


explosion resistant motors, where disconnects are optional. Factory wiring
shall be provided from motor to the handy box.

4. All fans shall bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for both sound and air
performance. Each fan shall bear a permanently affixed manufacturer's
nameplate containing the model number and individual serial number for
future identification. Fans shall be of type and capacity as shown on the
drawings.

F. IN-LINE CABINET FANS (SP - CEILING MOUNTED TYPE):

1. Ceiling mounted exhaust fans shall be of the centrifugal direct drive type. The
fan housing shall be constructed of galvanized steel and shall include
prepunched mounting brackets. The housing interior shall be lined with 1/2"
acoustical insulation (where applicable). The outlet duct collar shall include
aluminum backdraft damper and shall be adaptable for horizontal or vertical
discharge (where applicable). The grille shall be constructed of non-yellowing
high impact polymer or polystyrene or aluminum as applicable. Access for
wiring shall be external. The motor disconnect shall be internal and of plug in

type. The motor shall be mounted on vibration isolators.

2. The fan wheel shall be forward curve centrifugal type constructed of high
strength polymer, dynamically balanced for vibration isolation. All fans shall
bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for both sound and air performance and
shall be UL Listed and C.S.A. approved. Each fan shall bear a permanently
affixed manufacturer's nameplate containing the model number and individual
serial number for future identification, type, size and capacity as shown on the
drawings.

G. Make-Up Air Fans (Supply Fans):

1. Roof-mounted, filtered makeup air units shall have belt driven double
width/double inlet, forward curved centrifugal type supply fans. The entire
fan and motor assembly shall be mounted on a formed, reinforced support
structure with vibration isolators to prevent noise transmission. Motors shall
be permanently lubricated, heavy duty, ball bearing type, carefully matched
to the fan load and furnished at the specified voltage, phase and enclosure.
The fan shaft shall be ground and polished steel mounted in heavy duty,
sealed ball bearings. Bearings shall be selected for a minimum (L50) life in
excess of 200,000 hours at maximum cataloged operating speeds. Pulleys
shall be of the fully machined cast iron type, keyed and securely attached
to the wheel and motor shafts. Motor sheaves shall be adjustable for final
system balancing. Drives shall be sized for a minimum of 150% of driven
horsepower.

Fan wheels shall be of the forward curved type, constructed of heavy


gauge steel and statically and dynamically balanced to ensure smooth,
vibration free operation. Housing construction shall be of heavy gauge
galvanized steel with removable panels. Filters shall be one inch aluminum
mesh and sized to provide for optimum removal of contaminated outside air
without exceeding the manufacturers recommendations for maximum
velocity.

The prewired control center shall include, but not be limited to, an integral
master disconnect switch with fuse blocks for main power connection,
magnetic motor starters with thermal overloads and manuals reset, fused
115 volt control transformer, and distribution terminal control strip for control
wiring connection. All electrical components shall be U.L. Labeled where
applicable and wired in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NFPA
#70). Wiring shall be complete requiring only one point field connection for
power service and one point field connection for control voltage. Fans shall
be as manufactured by GREENHECK (Model KSU) or as approved equal;
type, size and capacities as shown on drawings.

H. Propeller Sidewall Exhauster (Belt Drive):

1. Belt driven, axial type sidewall fans shall be provided as specified herein.
Propellers shall be constructed with fabricated steel blades and hubs.
Propellers shall be securely attached to fan shafts. All propellers shall be
statically and dynamically balanced.

2. Motors shall be permanently lubricated, heavy duty type, carefully matched to


the fan load and furnished at the specified voltage, phase, and enclosure.
Ground and polished steel fan shafts shall be mounted in permanently

lubricated, sealed ball bearing pillow blocks. Bearings shall be selected for a
minimum (L10) life in excess of 100,000 hours at maximum cataloged
operating speeds. Drives shall be sized for a minimum of 150 percent of
driven horsepower. Pulleys shall be of the fully machined cast iron type,
keyed and securely attached to wheel and motor shafts. Motor sheaves shall
be adjustable for system balancing.

3. Drive frame and panel assemblies shall be galvanized steel or painted steel.
Drive frames shall be formed channels and fan panels shall have prepunched
mounting holes, formed flanges, and a deep formed inlet venturi. Drive
frames and panels shall be bolted construction or welded construction. The
axial exhaust fans shall bear the AMCA Certified Ratings Seals for both
sound and air performance. Fans shall be Model SB (fabricated blades and
hubs) and SBC (cast blades and hubs) as manufactured by GREENHECK or
approved equal, type and capacity as indicated on drawings.

I. Roof Mounted Centrifugal Upblast Exhaust Fan for Smoke Control System

1. Spun aluminum exhaust fans shall be centrifugal belt driven type. The fan
wheel shall be centrifugal backward inclined, constructed of steel and shall
include a wheel cone carefully matched to the inlet cone for precise
running tolerances. Wheels shall be statically and dynamically balanced.
The fan housing shall be constructed of heavy gauge aluminum with a
rolled bead and a rigid internal support structure. A leak-proof fan housing
shall be constructed with a one piece windband with an integral rolled bead
for added strength and shall be joined to the curb cap with a continuously
welded seam.

2. Motors shall be heavy duty ball bearing type, carefully matched to the fan
load, and furnished at the specified voltage, phase and enclosure. Drive
frame assembly shall be constructed of heavy gauge steel. Motors and
drives shall be mounted on safety flange vibration isolators, out of the
airstream. Fresh air for positive motor cooling shall be drawn into the motor
compartment through a ten square inch tube free of discharge
contaminants. Motors and drives shall be readily accessible for
maintenance.

3. Precision ground and polished fan shafts shall be mounted in permanently


sealed, lubricated pillow block ball bearings. Bearings shall be selected for
a minimum (L10) life in excess of 100,000 hours at maximum cataloged
operating speed. Dual drives shall be sized for a minimum of 150% of
driven horsepower. Pulleys shall be of the cast type, keyed and securely
attached to the wheel and motor shafts.

4. Motor pulleys shall be adjustable for final system balancing. A NEMA-3R


disconnect switch shall be factory installed and wired from the fan motor to
a junction box installed outside the motor compartment. All fans shall bear
the AMCA Certified Ratings Seal for sound and air performance.

5. Each fan shall bear a permanently affixed manufacturer’s engraved metal


nameplate containing the model number and individual serial number for
future identification. Fans shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratory for
UL/cUL 705 for electrical components and UL Listed for Emergency Smoke
Control Systems (500 degrees F for 4 hours and 1,000 degrees F for 15
minutes). Fans shall be of type, size and capacity as shown on drawings.

Fans shall be Model S-CUBE as manufactured by GREENHECK or
approved equal.

J. Utility Centrifugal Fans (SFB Type):

1. Supply, exhaust and return air fans shall be of the belt driven utility fan type in
AMCA Arrangement 10 with a single width, single inlet housing in CW or
CCW rotation as specified. The housing shall be constructed of heavy gauge
steel with lock formed seams permitting no air leakage. The housing shall be
field rotatable to any of the eight standard discharge positions. Housing and
bearing supports shall be constructed of welded steel members to prevent
vibration and rigidly support the shaft and bearings. The fan wheel shall be of
the forward curved type, constructed of heavy gauge steel with uniform
stamped steel blades. Wheels shall be statically and dynamically balanced.
The wheel cone and fan inlet cone shall be carefully matched for maximum
performance and operating efficiency.

2. Motors shall be permanently lubricated, heavy duty, ball bearing type carefully
matched to the fan load and furnished at the specified voltage, phase and
enclosure. The fan shaft shall be ground and polished solid steel mounted in
heavy duty, permanently sealed, pillow block ball bearings. Bearings shall be
selected for a minimum L50 life in excess of 200,000 hours at maximum
cataloged operating speed. Drives shall be sized for a minimum of 150% of
driven horsepower. Pulleys shall be of the fully machined cast iron type,
keyed and securely attached to the wheel and motor shafts. The motor pulley
shall be adjustable for final system balancing. Fan performance shall be
based on tests conducted in accordance with AMCA Standard 210 test code
for air moving devices. Fans shall be licensed to bear the AMCA Certified
Ratings Seal for air performance. Utility fans shall be as manufactured by
GREENHECK (Model SFB) or approved equal; type and capacity as shown
on the drawings.

K. Car Park Ventilation Systems:

1. Systems Functions:

a. Exhaust gases produced by vehicles and pockets of stagnant air are


effectively removed.

b. Assistance needs to be given to the fire fighters in the event of fire by
clearing smoke from the car park during and after the fire.

c. Provide clear smoke-free access for fire fighters to tackle the seat of
the fire and to protect means of escape from the car park.

2. Standards:

a. BS 7346-7:2006 - Components for Smoke and Heat Control Systems,


Code of Practice on functional recommendations and calculation
methods for smoke and heat control systems for covered car parks.”

3. General: Provide car park ventilation system including design, CFD


(Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis and report; fabrication, supply and
installation of cyclone induction fans, extract and/or inlet fans, ductwork (for
extract) and dampers, control and sensors systems and wiring, CO and
heat/smoke detectors; and other ancillaries to complete the system.

4. Provide mechanical ventilator similar to Model CYCLONE 100 as


manufactured by COLT INTERNATIONAL LTD or approved equal with the
following performance data:

- Throw (m): 40
- Thrust (N): 100 (At full speed)
- Airflow (m3/s): 2.7
- Power (kW): 2.6
- FLC (A): 4.6
- SC (A): 15
- Power Supply: 400V/3 Phase/ 50 Hz

Physical features include:

a. Casing fabricated of minimum 4 mm thick hot dip galvanized mild


steel with manufacturer’s standard corrosion-resistant epoxy coated
finish; color as selected by the Engineer.

b. Low profile for maximum headroom.

c. Noise Levels (for Extract Systems): 55 dBA, externally (maximum) at


3 m inside the car park.

5. Capacity and Ratings (for Extract Fans and Ventilators): As required by
Design.

000PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION

A. General: Install fans where indicated, in accordance with manufacturer's


installation instructions and recognized industry practices, to ensure that fans
comply with the requirements specified and serve the intended purposes.

B. Access: Provide access and service space around and over fans as indicated,
but in no case less than that recommended by manufacturer.

C. Support: Unless otherwise indicated, provide 100 mm high concrete pad under
floor-mounted centrifugal fans.

D. Isolation: Set centrifugal fans on vibration isolators, fasten in accordance with


manufacturer's installation instructions.

E. Electrical Wiring: Install electrical devices furnished by manufacturer but not


specified to be factory-mounted. Verify that electrical wiring installation conform
to the manufacturer's submittal and installation requirements of the applicable
Sections of Division 16. Ensure that rotation is in the direction indicated and
intended for proper performance.

F. Ductwork Connections: Refer to Section 15891 - HVAC DUCTWORK. Provide


flexible connections on inlet and outlet duct connections.

3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Upon completion of installation of fans and after motors has been energized with
normal power source, test the equipment to demonstrate compliance with the
specified requirements.

B. Where possible, field correct malfunctioning equipment, then retest to


demonstrate compliance.

C. Replace equipment which cannot be satisfactorily corrected at no extra cost to


the Owner.

3.3 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING

A. Start-up, test and adjust fans in the presence of the manufacturer's authorized
representative and the Engineer.
