Pre-treatment and planting

- DERBY has a short dormancy.
- Allow the seed to acclimatize to the local conditions before planting.
- De-sprouting will increase the risk of little potato disorder.
- Seed should be removed from the cold store in time before planting.
- Cutting seed is not advised because of sensitivity to rotting.
- Always treat DERBY seeds and soil against Rhizoctonia.
- Best grown on light, not too rich or even poor soils.
- On light soils with free living nematodes there is a higher risk of spraing. Apply a nematicide
on these soils.
- Take care of a good volume ridge to prevent green tubers.
- Planting with small white sprouts produces the best results.
- DERBY can be planted early but avoid planting in cold conditions.
Growing attention points
- DERBY is quite sensitive to metribuzin (Sencor), only use it pre-emergence.
- Pay extra attention to tuber protection because of higher sensitivity to tuber blight.
- DERBY has a low susceptibility to common scab.

Haulm killing and harvest

- In general, DERBY has a good stolone detachment and early skin set.
- Tubers have a quick skin set, but have thin skins. Pay extra attention at harvest.
- DERBY is moderately susceptible to bruising. Reduce drop heights and avoid mechanical
damage.
- Tubers are big. Harvest and store with care to avoid damage and bruising.

Storage
- DERBY is not suitable for long term storage.
- Short ambient storage is possible. The tubers should be fully skin set before harvest.
