Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from
completing this field experience?

This activity took place in a 2nd grade classroom. The object of the activity was to provide support to the teacher and students with
making their black history projects more meaningful and student centered. The overall goal was to give the students a different outlook
on how to create projects and presentations. Also, I wanted to model for the teacher how to structure lessons and teach students to use
new tools for a common concept. In preparing for the activity, I learned the teacher was skeptical of the ability level of his students and
that I would have to coach him on how to let students take more responsibility for their work. However, it encouraged me to take a
different approach to my coaching strategy to make the teacher more at ease and create a teaching and learning experience that both the
teacher and students would enjoy.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions
(attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected
above. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
Knowledge – To create this lesson, a strong knowledgebase for the SWAY presentation tool was required. Also, effective coaching
practices and classroom management skills were required to prepare and complete, design and execute a meaningful teaching and
learning experience.

Skills – As a technology leader, it is important that you are able to model and facilitate the effective use of the tools and resources one
plans to use. The effectiveness of the tools or resources will not be grasped if the technology leader is unable to model to others how
they may be implemented in their areas of expertise.

Dispositions – In order to make this field experience effective, it was important to create an engaging activity where the students and
teacher felt confident and enthusiastic about the activity they were completing.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school.
How can the impact be assessed?

It will be rather difficult to assess the impact on school improvement, faculty development or student learning because of the nature of
the field experience. The teacher and students were provided with an experience they could take and utilize in the future if desired.
