Dear Sir and Frater:

This refers to your recent request for assistance in solving your

personal problem.

We realize your keen disappointment and the difficulty each and

every one of us encounters in realizing that the experiences we
meet on the path of life, whether pleasant or otherwise, are for
the purpose of teaching valuable lessons.

In the first place, it is much better for you to find out now that
your fiancee does not really care for you as much as she thought
she did, than later after you had married. The Hjosicrucian teach­
ings do not advocate or approve of anyone trying to control the
mind of another, nor to dictate how another shall live his life.
Therefore, we could not—and would not if we could—attempt to
force anyone to act or think in any manner which is contrary to
the dictates of his inner self. The fact that your fiancee is so
far away from you and is, no doubt, a young and fun-loving girl,
should be taken into consideration. She should not be exnected
to give up all other company, nor should you under the circum­
stances.
If, after she finishes college, she is not ready to marry, we do
not see how you or anyone else would have any right to force her
to do so or attempt to influence her to change her mind. It is
said that it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind, and the
only thing you can do is to accept her decision graciously.
Perhaps if you were a little more indifferent, her interest would
be stimulated. Let her know that it is entirely up to her, and
while you are still of the same mind and still care for her as
much as ever, you want her to be happy. If she is of the fickle
type and will fall in love with someone else before marriage, she
might be just as liable to do so afterward. At any rate, we urge
you not to allow yourself to become bitter about the matter, but
look at it from a philosophical point of view, knowing that

whatever happens is for the best. You will no doubt live to see
the day when you can look back and understand that it was for the
best.
In the meantime, we shall continue our efforts in your behalf and
shall do everything we can to direct Cosmic help to you.
