Creating your NU account and submitting an
enrollment deposit
2018-2019
To accept the offer of admission at Northwestern University, you will need to create your
account within CAESAR, the student enrollment portal. Once logged in to CAESAR, you can
pay your $200 tuition deposit, which reserves your space in the Bienen School. You can also
make a housing deposit, should you be interested in Engelhart Hall, and make any changes to
your address or contact information.

Step 1: Create your account

o Go to: https://validate.it.northwestern.edu/idm/user/login.jsp
o Enter your NetID. In the field marked “Password”, enter your Activation Code.

The system will then guide you through setting up a new password, and establishing your NU
email account. It is very important to finish the entire process – do not close your browser
until the entire setup process is completed. Important information will be sent over the
summer to your new Northwestern email account, and not to your personal email account.
If for some reason your browser crashes during the process or an error occurs, you will have to
contact the Office of Music Admission for a new activation code.

Once the process is complete and you have your new email, NetID and password, then:

Step 2: Login to CAESAR and pay your deposit

o Go to: www.northwestern.edu/caesar
o Login with your NetID and your newly created password
o Click on Make Deposit (Housing/Tuition) under the “Student Financial
Services” heading
o Press the Make Deposit button next to the Tuition Deposit item. The
Northwestern Commerce Manager Payer page should appear. Press “contact
us” if you are not connected to a payment window.
o Choose either eCheck or Credit Card as your form of payment, and complete the
required information.
o Click on the “Continue” button. If you wish to make a housing deposit for
Engelhart Hall, you may do so using the same process.
o Sign out and close your browser once you are finished.

Step 3: Review your payment

o Wait at least one business day from the time you submitted your payment.
o Login to CAESAR, and click on “View My Account”
o Click on “View Your Unapplied Deposits” to see the deposits you have made to
Northwestern.
