Re: Good Hope DMPA Improvements

Dear Mr. Krams;

It has come to the attention of the City of Ingleside, TX that the Port Corpus Christi is in the process of
receiving bids for modifications and improvements to the Good Hope Dredge Material Disposal Area.
This facility is located within the corporate limits of the City of Ingleside and as such is subject to its
regulations. Modifications and Improvements to this facility requires three approvals from the City.

First, the property must be rezoned. Newly annexed areas of the city receive a blanket zoning
classification of R-1, Single Family. Uses other than R-1 are considered legally nonconforming so long
as no changes or modifications are made. Once changes are made or contemplated, the rezoning
process is triggered. The rezoning process requires action by both the Planning and Zoning
commission and the City Council.

Second, if the property is rezoned to industrial, certain uses are deemed objectionable and require a
special permit issued by the City Council. The requirements for that application are outlined in Section
78-267 of the City Code. (Attached)

Third, excavations within the city are governed by Sections 30-180 thru 30-200 of the City Code.
(Attached). These sections outline the requirements for the application. The Planning and Zoning
Commission and City Council must approve excavation permits.

Explanatory packets with application forms are available at the Building Officials office.

All these actions require public notice and publication in the newspaper of record. Attached is a table
outlining the deadlines for subsequent meetings.

As with all property owners, the City of Ingleside will be happy to assist the Port Corpus Christi
through the process of applying for these permits. Should you have any questions, please contact
myself or Ms. Carey Dietrich, Building Official.
Sincerely,

David Huseman
City Manager
