Sample Interview Questions & Answers: Job Application

1. Tell me about yourself.

―Good morning/afternoon/evening, Sir/Ma‘am! First of all thank you for giving this
wonderful or great opportunity to me to introduce myself in front of you. I‘m Maricris Johanna
Capiral Silvala, and I am from Pandacan, Manila. At present, I recently graduated from
University of the East, majoring in Psychology. Apart from studies, I am very good and
enthusiastic in the field of swimming. I am a swimmer for more than a decade and I competed in
UAAP and other national competitions and I also won a few of them. My hobbies include
reading, photography, and listening to music.‖

2. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

―My strengths are: For one, I have a good communication skills and leadership qualities.
I got my confidence from my experiences wherein I was able to manage an organizational event.
Second, I can handle myself in difficult situations, as I motivate others. Also, I am punctual and
very enthusiastic to learn new things. I am optimistic and I can make my surroundings happy
with my sense of humour. On the contrary, I don‘t like people who are not telling me what they
really wanted to tell straight infront of me. And sometimes, I easily get irritated.‖

3. What is your greatest weakness?

―I am quick learner and I am ready to work with the team with a positive attitude.‖

4. What’s your greatest weakness?

―It is not really a weakness; However, I sometimes have a problem in saying ―no‖ to
anyone.‖
5. Why should I hire you?

―As I am fresher, I don‘t have any experience, but I am willing to work for you in any
kind of situation. I have ability to work with your organization and I can also show my ability
while working with your organization. This is an opportunity to start a career that I definitely
don‘t want to lose so I will give my 100% to give my best.‖

6. Why do you want to work at *company name*?

―I am looking for a platform where I can give my best and work with dedication to give a
kick start to my carrier. And if that platform comes from a well renowned company like
*company name*, then it can‘t be anything better than that. I love challenges that an
organization puts in that helps an individual to grow up professionally. I also worship the
company that honors the individual who accepts and copes up with the challenges, and
*company name* is right on top among such organizations.‖

7. What made you choose this job?

―I‘ve always loved observing people. And through that I was able to enhance more of my
interests in the field of psychology. Primarily, I see myself in the clinical setting yet I am not
closing doors to other settings, just like this – industrial setting. It is really great to be able to
contribute positively to a field which I feel so passionate about, and to help an organization
gather employees that will surely foster its development.‖

8. Why do you think you are a good fit for the company?

―I am a good fit for this organization because I know that as my interests in the job
inclines with what the company needs, I will be an effective part of the team towards its common
goal.‖

9. How would you be an asset to the organization?

―Employees are the asset of the company because company‘s growth depends on the
employee‘s hard work, brilliance, and most importantly, dedication.‖
10. What qualities do you feel a *job position* should have?

―The key qualities in a *job position* should be leadership and camaraderie—the ability
to be the visionary for the people who are working under them. The person who can set the
course and direction for subordinates, keeping them focused on what is most important for
delivering the highest priority results. The highest calling of a true leader is inspiring others to
reach the highest of their abilities. I'd like to tell you about a person whom I consider to be a true
leader…"

11. What characteristics make you a good *job position*?

―I believe that my deep interest and profound knowledge in the field of psychology will
make me a good *job position* since I believe that these are the things that the job per se will
deeply require.‖

12. Why do you want to work at *company name*?

―I believe that your company is the most possible organization which will surely serve as
a good foundation of my first entry in the working field. And if given the opportunity, I know
that I can help you optimize your strength in terms of doing my job well enough to empower
your human resource department – which is the prime foundation of every organization.‖

13. How much salary do you expect?

―Salary is matter for experience candidates. I am a fresher, and I want to improve my


skills and knowledge in the corporate world. And I am expecting a salary ranging from
*amount* to *amount* which will fulfill my economical needs.‖

14. What is your long-range objective?

―My objective is generally to enhance myself each and every day through the use of my
abilities by applying them to job activities that seemingly fit my field of interest.‖
15. What relevant experience do you have?

―Since I am a newly graduate, my relevant experiences would most probably include


those of my internship days as well as the application of the job activities in this organization,
which was taken up during my major subjects in college.‖

16. Have you done anything to further your experience?

―I am furthering my experiences by attending and participating in various seminars as I


apply my knowledge through this job.‖

18. How has your education prepared you for your career?

―I believe that my university has prepared me well enough through various application-
based subjects related to my field of interest as well as widening the opportunities of gaining
knowledge through various seminars and activities. Also, the various settings from my internship
made a huge mark in my life as I venture into the start of my career per se.‖

19. How are you when you're working under pressure?

―Ma‘am/Sir, I believe that if we love what we do, we never feel the pressure. And we
must always be ready to face the upcoming challenges. So I think I can do well. I always do my
best to face challenges in my life, so pressure doesn‘t matter. Working under pressure is the
opportunity to know more about my ability and gaining confidence as well.‖

20. What motivates you to do a good job?

―I‘ve always been motivated by the challenge of being able to learn from many people
while actually working. I know that this job is very socially-oriented and personality-focused –
I‘m more than up for the challenge. In fact, I thrive on it.‖

21. What are your goals?

―To be honest, my aim in life is to see myself as a successful person at respectable


position while being a part of your organization.‖
22. Where do you see yourself five years from now?

―I see myself sitting comfortably in your chair and asking someone else the same
question.‖

23. What is your edge among other applicants?

―I believe that aside from my strong foundation in the field, my edge would be my
personality – consisting of resiliency, determination, and good interpersonal relationship in and
outside the workplace. I believe that this would not only be beneficial for the institution, but to
individual co-workers in general.‖

24. How do you plan to extend your knowledge towards your job?

―I plan to have my Master‘s degree class every weekend as I work during weekdays.
Through it, I can able to level up both my knowledge and skills towards my work as I venture
into another set of years of advanced studies in the field.‖

25. Why are you competent to the job you are applying to?

―I am competent because I have the knowledge, skill, and most importantly, the interest
of excelling this job. I also have the personality fit in compliance to the said job – and that I
believe is a key factor as well.‖

26. What are your plans if ever you’ll get hired?

―If I get hired, I will immediately do my best to be able to do my job efficiently and as
what I‘ve mentioned previously, I will take my Master‘s degree.‖

27. How are you going to handle difficult employees?

―I will handle difficult employees by maintaining to have an open communication among


the organization individually and as a whole. Likewise, I will make sure that there will be a
regularity of trainings and seminars for the employees.‖
28. What shall we (the company/institution) expect from you?

―I will not promise anything but I will do my best to raise a ‗bar‘ in everything that I will
do for the company and for the employees.‖

29. What do you expect from the company/institution in return?

―Just like what every employee must have, I expect just compensation and proper
disposition of my benefits. Also, I expect growth from this company/institution since it will be
my first job after graduating from college.‖

30. How do you think the company/institution can help you grow?

―This company/institution can help me grow by allowing me to apply my knowledge in


the field as well as expanding it by venturing me to various trainings and seminars so that I could
also apply it in the workplace.‖
