DURING LABOR PROCESS IN STAGE I PRIMIGRAVIDA WOMEN AT JANNAH
PRIMARY CLINIC MEDAN TEMBUNG 2018

ABSTRACT

In the first stage of labor, there are many problems in labor, especially anxiety in the
facing the childbirth. Husband's accompaniment is needed to reduce the anxiety
during labor. The presence of husband can provide comfort during childbirth. This
study of anxiety reduction in the delivery process of the stage I primigravida mothers
at Jannah Primary Clinic Medan Tembung in 2018.

This study was an observational study with a cross sectional design conducted in
May-July 2018. About 30 individuals in stage I mothers were the samples of this
research obtained through saturated sampling techniques. The data were collected
through the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (T-MAS) of anxiety questionnaire and
husband's accompaniment questionnaire and analyzed with the Fisher Exact test.

Through the research, it was found that the husband was assistance to the labor
mothers at the time of majority giving good influence (90%), and the mother gave
birth to mild anxiety (60%). Through analysis, it was obtained the p value <0.05, so
that it can be influenced by husband's accompaniment to the reduction of anxiety in
the delivery process of the stage I primigravida mothers at Klinik Pratama Jannah
Medan in Bubble in 2018.

Health workers are expected to facilitate the accompaniment of husbands and


families during the first stage of labor.
