What is hydroponics?
From wikipedia:
Hydroponics is a subset of hydroculture, the method of growing plants without soil, using mineral
nutrient solutions in a water solvent.
SNAP stands for Simple Nutrient Addition Program. It is a low-cost, low-maintenance hydroponics
system that is designed for household and small-scale vegetable production.
You can buy them from UPLB-IPB and authorized resellers. Unfortunately, the top hits when searching
the internet for SNAP hydroponics are selling products labeled “SNAP Hydroponics” but are not from
UPLB-IPB. You can find a list of authorized resellers in the authorized resellers list.
You can buy them from your local garden or agri centers. They are also available in the garden section of
Ace Hardware.

You can buy them from fruit vendors that sell imported grapes and the like. Just walk around your local
public market and ask for them.
What do I do with the spent solution left in the reservoir after I harvest my
crops?
You can use them to water you regular potted plants or even reuse them for your next grow.
I’m just a hobbyist SNAP grower who enjoys growing my own food with SNAP and wants to share the
fun.

Replenishment Guide
Marco Enrico·Monday, September 18, 2017
An important part of maintaining your SNAP hydroponics system is the regular replenishment of
the SNAP nutrient solution. Overtime your plants will consume the nutrient solution to power
their growth. Below is a visual guide to replenishing the SNAP nutrient solution.
As the plant develops further, more of the solution will be consumed. It is important to regularly
check the nutrient solution level and never let it dry up.
Growing boxes as the plant grows further.
Add SNAP nutrient solution (2.5mL of SNAP A and B per liter of water) as needed. Do not
submerge the plants’ root system in solution because they will “drown.” A good rule of thumb is
to add solution so that the solution level is about a centimeter from the bottom of the seedling
plugs.
