SNP Profiles (Master Data):

Powertastic Business Scenario

Powertastic, Co. will set up the Planning area administration including the
time bucket profiles.

SNP Planning Area Administration - Key Figure

• Data that is represented as a numerical value either a

quantity or a monetary value (e.g. production receipts or
distribution receipts)

• Different data storage options can be used to store the key

figures

• Standard key figures are predefined with APO

• Custom key figures can also be created

8 Unit3: SNP Planning Area Administration | 2010 © Copyright IBM Corporation 2010

SNP Planning Area Administration - Characteristic

• Planning object such as

product, location, brand or
region

• Master data encompasses

the permitted values of the
characteristics
(Characteristic values)

• Characteristic values are

discrete names

• Example- values for the

location characteristic
(London, New York)

SNP Planning Area Administration - Characteristic

• Standard Characteritics are

predefined within APO

• Custom characterictics can

also be created

SNP Planning Area Administration - Attribute

• Attribute is a characteristic that is

logically assigned, and subordinated, to
another characteristic

• Characteristics used for selection and

navigation would be defined as
navigational attributes

• Reporting can be done on both

characteristics and attributes

SNP Planning Area Administration -

Master Planning Object Structure

• Contains plannable characteristics for

one or more planning areas

• Specific characteristics are required

for Supply Network Planning

• Structure on which all other planning

object structures are based

• Prerequisite for being able to create a

planning area

SNP Planning Area Administration - Planning Area

• Central data structure

• Groups together the parameters that define the scope of the planning
activities

• Determines where and how the planning results are saved

SNP Planning Area Administration -

Time Buckets Profile

• Two kinds of time bucket profiles:

• Storage Bucket Profile

• Planning Bucket Profile

• SNP comes with standard time bucket

profiles

SNP Planning Area Administration -

Storage Buckets Profile

• Defines the time buckets in which data based

on a given planning area is saved

• Specify the following in the profile:

• One or more periodicities in which the data

needs to be saved

• Horizon during which the profile is valid

• Time Stream (Optional)

• Number of days at which the time buckets

can change (optional)

SNP Planning Area Administration -

Planning Buckets Profile

• Information that defines the historical or future time horizon for

planning

• Use only those periodicities or a subset of periodicities that are

defined in the storage bucket profile

• Multiple profiles can be created and hence multiple planning horizons

for the same planning book

• The profiles are attached to the data view within the planning book

Planning Area Administration – Keyfigure Details

Mapping of keyfigures to ATP Categories and Category Groups
For example Distribution Receipt (Planned) keyfigure is mapped to Category Group
PS1 which includes SNP Purchase Requisitions (EA), Stock Transfer Requisitions
(AG), Stock Transfer Reservation (BD), Schedule Line (BE), SNP Sched Agreement SL
(HG) all of which is read from liveCache Order Series and displayed in keyfigure
Order created in this keyfigure is created with ATP Category AG as defined

SNP Planning Area Administration - Planning Book

• Determines the content and layout of the interactive planning screen

• Ability to design the screen to suit individual users’ planning tasks

• One or more views can be defined

• SNP comes with standard planning books

SNP Planning Area Administration - Macros

 To perform complex mathematical
calculations quickly and easily
Can be executed directly by the user or
automatically at a predefined point in
time
 APO comes with standard macros
associated with the standard planning
book
Standard macros can be copied to user
created planning books

SNP Planning Area Administration - Data Storage

 LiveCache Time Series Object

Live cache
– data stored in time buckets
Time series objects

– no reference to orders

– suitable for tactical, aggregated planning

– usual method for saving current demand planning data

– has CVC as key along with Keyfigure & Time Bucket
