Technology gave us comfort every day, every hour
and every minute of our lives. Many technologies,
tools, products and systems are made through the use
of IT.
Grades are important for every student because it
reflect and measure their performance and it will
determine whether a student passes the subject or not.
It also helps the professors to guide and facilitate the
student’s learning development. Information about
student’s grades is vital, but time‐consuming to
manage and it is essential that the most effective tools
be used to aid both staff and students go about their
work and studies. Grading System is an important
aspect of a school’s operation and goals. Online
Grading System will improve the manual grading
system in every school in many ways such as in
computing and analyzing the performance of each
student. It is the important record to keep for the
referral and credentials of the student to enter their next
level of attaining their goals. In essence, grading is an
exercise in professional judgment on the part of
teachers. It involves the collection and evaluation of
evidence on students' achievement or performance
over a specified period of time, such as an academic
first and second semester, or entire school year.
Through this process, various types of descriptive
information and measures of students' performance are
converted into grades or marks that summarize
students' accomplishments. Marinduque State College
(MSC), formerly known as the Marinduque Institute of
Science and Technology, is a public educational
institution established in 1953 as the Marinduque
school consists of one main campus in boac and three
Satellite campuses in Gasan, Sta. Cruz and Torrijos.
Our target is main campus in boac because the grading
system of MSC is used by a manual system .Many of
student are go to registrar office to see the grade
manual and make fall in line. Manual way of
computing grades records of both student and teachers.
The proponents attempt to design and developed
grading system which wants to enhance process and
flow the old manual system. One of the students is
afraid to know the parents of their grade. Online
Grades System can help students as well as their
parents. Parents can now view their student’s grade
every now and then, so as the students for them to help
their self before it’s too late
With the system providing a user friendly and
effective system provides an easier and faster view of
data of every student such as when the instructor/admin
is mistaken in the input of grades, the system provides
the means of updating the record. The system can
retrieve information from the database and can view
anytime.

the grades of each student to check on their accuracy.

be submitted on time.

Grading system is an exercise in professional
judgment on the part of teacher. [1] It involves the

achievement or performance over specified period of
time. Through this process various types of descriptive

students is one of essential qualities and products of
school works .Grades reflect and measure the
performance of student and determine whether a
student passes the subject or not ,It also helps the
professors to guide and facilitate the student s learning
development .The students grades must be accurately
calculated ,safety accumulated or stored in data base
and must be well distributed to the students .knowing
the grades at the end of every semester is the most
important part of individual student particularly
,student in college ( Bibeako ,2012)
Importance of Online Grading System

often a disconnection between what their perception of their
achievement is and their teachers’ perception of their achievement.
Students turn in lessons and may or may not get results and/or
feedback from their teachers. The teacher keeps up with the
students’ progress but does not necessarily share that information
with the students and certainly not with the parents until grades
come out. There just is not enough time during the term to share
individual grades with individual students and individual parents.
Thus, at grade time, there is normally a great deal of surprise.
Students who do not get specific feedback from their teacher are
surprised at their low grades. Parents, who get all their information
about the student from the student, are equally surprised at the low
grades. Teachers, who have experienced the lack of effort and/or
understanding in the student and are not surprised at the student’s
grade, are surprised that the student and parents are surprised. This
is not a positive form of surprise. This surprise is more in the form
of misunderstanding and hurt feelings resulting from the lack of
consistent communication among the school and the student and
the parents. These hard feelings perpetuate a sense of mistrust
among all parties.
Problems encountered using Manual System
Studies emphasized that information about students
grades is vital, but time‐consuming to manage and it
is essential that the most effective tools be used to aid
both staff and students go about their work and
studies. [8] The Cambridge Student Grading
System (CAMSGS) replaced various student records
system used by the colleges, departments and
universities. CAMSGS provides comprehensive and
accurate information about student’s grade body and
also improves data quality, reduce the administrative
burden dramatically and provides better services to
both academic staff and students.
The school employs a few numbers of staff and
teachers. Having these instances, school preparation
has become increasing stressful. This stress is
augmented further by a perplexing task of grade
computation which is required to be accomplished at
every school term. Grading is a very crucial part of
school’s operations and goals. The current system
employed by the school is the traditional method of
recording, calculating, in maintaining student grades
and records. As such, a teacher allocates most of their
time to carefully compute the grades of the student
using their calculators, and to some teachers,
manually solve the grades using paper and pen. To a
greater extent, some teachers have to bring their work
home and spend sleepless nights in order to meet the
deadlines and provide an immediate report which will
communicate to the students’ parents and guardians as
well the student performance and progress.

Although online grading programs are supported as
being a mode for sharing information easily, teachers
can find them a burden. Parents come to expect up-to-
date maintenance of grades and, of course, attendance,
and if a teacher falls behind, parents may get anxious
and push for current updates. In the same vein, grading
programs are not fix-all’s for grade keeping. Teachers
make mistakes. There are times when a large amount
of data needs to be input in a short amount of time. The
potential for mistakes grows at such times. Online
grading programs magnify teacher mistakes. The
potential for a harmful situation exists if a teacher
accidentally records a low grade for a student. An irate
parent may punish a student for a low test mark that is
a teacher mistake and the fault of the teacher’s too-long
day at work and not the fault of the student.
Grading Learning
Machine learning is usually used to predict
student’s performance since the task of machine
learning is to learn from based data, and then apply the
knowledge that was gained in real data [46]. Since
general point average (GPA) of current high school
students increases compared to the graduates of
previous years [47] colleges and universities increase
also their standard raising their GPA requirements [48]
for the upcoming college students. Machine learning
has the capability to learn more when the model is
exposed to new data; it adapts independently [49, 50].

3.1 Requirement Analysis Procedure
The method of research we used in the study ” A
Proposed Online Grading System” is the descriptive
type of method research, because this kind of research
describes the present system, which is the manual way
of grading system based on the impressions of the
respondents. We used this kind of research because it
is appropriate in knowing the extent to which the
different conditions of the present set up of the study.
Descriptive survey method was used to achieve
the purpose of the study. We made a survey regarding
about the old system of recording grades, which is the
manual way. By that, we had come up with the idea
that the manual way should really be change into an
automated one.
Based on our observation, in Marinduque state
college is using a manual computation of grades of
each student, which is the traditional use when
technology is not yet developed.
Since we are used of using the manual way of
computing grades, why not, we try something new
and easier to make the job done fast.
This was deemed appropriate because the study
sought to identify all things happen at the present flow
of grading system.
Reviewing the related literature was done to
gather information about the problem and possible
solution to be develop. In addition, to compare the
ideas and previous work of other researcher, literature
was cited and thoroughly analyzed to be
knowledgeable about the proposed study.

the proposed project.
