TECHNOMELT PUR 3317 BR

known as: Purmelt 3317 BR
June 2013

Type : Polyurethane Reactive Hot Melt Adhesive

Physical properties: Appearance: White Solid

Solid: 100%
Viscosity: Approx. 2,500 - 4500 cps @130C
30min Brookfield Spindle 27

Application & Character : For Book bonding application, perfect binding of thread stitched
and thread sealed books, sideglueing, endsheet glueing.
TECHNOMELT PUR 3317 BR shows an excellent
adhesion to a variety of papers and materials and is
as well suitable for difficult-tobond papers.
Depending on size and weight of the book the
thickness of the adhesive film should be 0,3 – 0,6 mm.
The cured TECHNOMELT PUR 3317 BR film provides a
good flexibility at high and low temperatures.
After 24 hours already 50 – 80 % of the final bonding
strength can be reached depending on the external
conditions. The adhesive cures to its final bond strength
within 2 days - depending on the atmospheric humidity, the
moisture content of the paper, the thickness of the adhesive
film and permeability of the material to be bonded.
Do not mix with other adhesives.

For any other application conditions, please

contact our technical advice.
Operate suggestion : Suggestion operate temperature : 110 - 130°C.

TECHNOMELT PUR 3317 BR is applied

by roll coater or spray coating.
The PURHM applicators used can be the drum unloader type or
any other applicators with bulk melter should be effected at the
following temperatures: premelting area 80 - 90°C, hose.
110 - 120°C , glue applicator/ nozzle 120 - 130°C0 When the

Special consideration must be given to ventilating

adhesive feed stations as well as the applicator.

If processing takes place under dry conditions (i.e., with

relative humidity below 50%) it is necessary to fog the coated
surface with moisture to assure that curing takes place at
reasonable speed.

Clean up: At the end of the day roller cleaning is achieved by removing
as much adhesive as possible from the roller and blade,
purging with a small quantity (0.5kg) of PUR-FECT P
CLEANER or Cleaning agent V 1940 at 100 -120°C for
3~4cycles, using a wire brush if necessary, drain and wipe
clean. Cured adhesive on the surface of the equipment
needs a special solvent soaking overnight - BONDMASTER
5694. For the drum melt, purge the INSTALOK 239 or
Purmelt® Reiniger 2 (light blue) to clean the hose and
nozzle.

Do not mix with other adhesives except to flush

system as noted above.

Package: Please contact Henkel Taiwan Ltd.

Storage : Rotate stock using oldest material first.

Do not mix with other adhesives.

Store in original unopened containers.

Moisture contamination will cause a sharp viscosity increase

or gelation. Containers should be completely used after
opening. Don’t attempt to reseal.

Store in original unopened containers and use within 12

months from date of manufacture.

Do not expose to the atmosphere or otherwise

contaminate with moisture.
Health & safety: Material is applied hot. Appropriate clothing and eye
protection should be used to prevent severe burns.

Use only with adequate ventilation.
