Analysing, assessing, designing, and operating systems or processes, equipment or facilities specifically used in
Chemical Engineering in accordance with the requirements, norms and specifications determined by the principles of
sustainable development.
Applying basic scientific skills in the fields of: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology, as well as principles from
Economics, Biochemistry, Statistics and Material Science, useful in the comprehension, description and solution of
problems typically found in Chemical Engineering.
Understanding and applying the basic principles of Chemical Engineering such as: Balance of matter, energy and
quantity of movement. Thermodynamics, phase equilibrium and chemical equilibrium. Kinetics of physical processes of
matter and energy transfer and of quantity of movement, and kinetics of chemical reactions.
Demonstrating your knowledge of different operations of reaction, separation, matter processes, and fluid circulation
transport involved in the industrial processes of Chemical Engineering.
Applying system analysis and synthesis techniques to the engineering of processes and products.
Objectively comparing and selecting different alternative techniques of a chemical process.
Analysing the economic viability of an industrial engineering project.
Demonstrating your understanding of the main concepts involved in the control of chemical engineering processes.
Demonstrating that you understand the role of chemical engineering in the prevention and solution of environmental
and energetic problems, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
Valuing in a structured and systematic manner any safety or health risks in the existing process or design phase and
applying suitable measures in each situation.
Demonstrating your knowledge of the norms, legislation and regulations pertaining to each situation.
Applying the knowledge and skills you acquire to elaborate a chemical engineering project.
Assuming the values of responsibility and professional ethics of the chemical engineering sector.
Applying scientific methods to systems where chemical, physical or biological transformations take place, both at
microscopic and macroscopic levels.
