ENGLISH PSR PAPER 2

SECTION A – Comprehension
(1 mark for 1 correct answer)

1. Read the passage at least 2 times before going through the questions.
2. PRONOUNS: Question 1-5. Pronouns are words that replace a noun or nouns. For these
questions tell the students to write names as their answers. Examples of pronouns:

3. Vocabularies: Question 6-10.


Students are not allowed to use the dictionary in the exam. They may read the sentence that
contains the vocabulary. It is also useful to read sentences before and after that particular
sentence. Look at the question and the answer options given. Use clues from the sentences and
choose the most suitable meaning for the word given.

4. Comprehension: Questions 11- 15


Read the questions. Circle the question words and underline the key words. This will help you
understand the question better.

SECTION B: INFORMATION TRANSFER
(1 mark for 1 correct answer)
1. Read the introduction.
2. Read the text.
3. Study and look at the chart/ table to see what type
of information is missing.
4. Read the instructions.
5. Look at the text carefully. Put the information into
the chart/table.
6. When you finished read the text again, to check your
answers. (10 Marks)

SECTION C: DIALOGUE
(1 mark for 1 correct answer)
1. Read the whole conversation to get an idea what the
conversation is all about.
2. Read the text line by line.
3. Look for a word within 3 lines of each blank space.
4. If you can’t find a word, there must be a clue to
suggest an answer on the blank space.
5. Write your answer on the blank space.
6. Read the whole conversation again, check if they
make sense. (10 Marks)
SECTION D:
Part ONE: Conjunctions
(1 mark for 1 correct answer)

1. Read each pair of sentences.


2. Look at the conjunctions given.
3. Rewrite the pair of sentences using one of the conjunction.
4. Cross out the conjunction you have used.
5. Read your new sentences and make sure they make sense.

(5Marks)
Part Two: Cloze Passage
(Half mark for one correct answer)

1. Read the whole text to get an idea what it is all about.

2. Study the words given.

3. Read the text again one paragraph at a time.

4. Try to put in the most suitable word for each blank space using a
pencil. You can always change you answer as you go along if you
think you make any mistake.

5. Cross out words you have used so that you will not use it more
than once.

6. Leave those blank spaces if you are not sure of the answers for
now and come back if you have filled in most of the answers. You
may look at the remaining words and try to fit them into the blank
spaces if they make sense.

7. Read the whole text again, check if they make sense.

8. Rewrite your answer in pen for your final answers.
