SIKA PRODUCTS FOR HIGH RISE PROJECTS
INTRODUCTION
The Philippines, especially Metro Manila, has been experiencing a rise in infrastructures. Most evident of
these constructions are high-rise buildings. Currently, there are several clusters of high-rise structures
rising in the metro. Majority of these structures are either residential, providing vertical living space in the
highly populated metro, or commercial, serving as offices for several corporations, or for leisure, serving
as World Class Hotels.
Every aspect and phase of the construction of high-rise projects has specific needs that should be
addressed. For instance, concrete pouring needs (super) plasticizers and/or retarders; Basement
construction needs intricate waterproofing; Building envelopes need sealants. The usual areas of
applications are indicated in the image below.

CONCRETING WORKS
Most of the high-rise projects are usually erected using reinforced concrete (RC) as the main component
of the structure. The parameters usually considered for reinforced concrete are workability, strength,
permeability, and durability. Also, protection from chemical attacks are taken into account to secure the
building further. Sika’s TM: Concrete offers several products to improve concreting works from water-
reducing admixtures to mould-release agents.
• Plastocrete® RMC - Water reducing & set retarding admixture (Type B & D)
• Sikament® R4-P1, SikaPlast -2000P4 - High range water reducing & set retarding admixture (Type
G)
• Sikament® NN, Sika® ViscoCrete® -4100 - High range water reducing admixture (Type F)
• Sika® Fume – Silica fume
• Sika® Formol EX, Sika® Decoffre Vegetal EP – Oil-based shutter release agent (mould release
agent)
• Antisol S – Concrete curing compound based on emulsified paraffin & metallic silicate
STRUCTURAL NEEDS
Aside from concrete, high-rise projects are in need of other products to meet its structural needs.
Chemical anchors are needed to attach rebars, threads, and even non-structural components. Grouts are
needed to fill the cavities and support pedestals and baseplates. Construction joints require bonding
agents to make the structure monolithic.

WATERPROOFING
High-rise building is very prone to water infiltration. Even in the concrete itself, the water may pass
through. Every building with substructures such as basements, and underground carparks require more
stringent requirements due to the presence of groundwater. Moreover, superstructures also need
waterproofing and Sika has solutions to offer.

FLOORING SYSTEMS
High-rise projects house various areas with various purposes and traffic needing different requirements
for flooring. Mechanical resistance, temperature variance, and chemical resistance are among the things
to consider when choosing what time of flooring would be used.

ROOFING
Most high-rise projects have roof decks to cap off the building. The system build-up for these decks
depends on the clients’ requirements such as location, traffic, UV resistance, and even roots resistance.
Sika Sarnafil has different build-ups that can cover exposed roofs, ballasted roofs, and even green roofs.
TECHNICAL SERVICES
Sika’s commitment to serve doesn’t end with the quality of the product. It extends through the technical
expertise of its personnel. Combining product know-how and knowledge of prevailing site conditions to
meet the needs of the clients are one of the tasks of Sika’s Technical Team. Included in the other services
of Sika are:
