WHAT GRADE RANGE IS MY CHILD?

All summer programs are for children entering the listed grades in school year '19-'20.

WHAT IS A WILDCARD ACTIVITY?

The Wildcard Activity is a chance for students to self-select an art or performance-
based elective that they do not generally get to experience during their day!
Students will choose their Wildcard Activity at the beginning of the week and get
the chance to learn a fun new skill in mixed-age groups of students.

GUIDE TO SUMMER K-2 PROGRAMS

ArtVenturers: Each week, ArtVenturers explore a theme through theatre, visual arts,
and music! In this integrated arts program, participants rotate daily through these
three creative components, as they collaborate on a showcase that combines all of
their artistic experiences.

Broadway Bootcamp Junior*: Broadway Bootcamp Junior is a new, exciting

opportunity for our youngest students to collaborate as an ensemble towards the
production of a musical! Participants in this two-week intensive program will develop
musical theatre performance skills, design their own sets and props, and build
confidence, creativity, and teamwork, culminating a performance at the end of the
second week.
*NOTE: This program is for grades K-3.

Tiny Triple Threats: Sing! Dance! Design! In Tiny Triple Threats, our youngest
participants get a chance to experience the many aspects of theatrical production.
During their day, participants rotate through singing and dancing, artwork and
design, and acting programs, as they work together to combine these into a one-of-
a-kind mini-performance.

Story Explorers: In Story Explorers, participants rotate through three programs as

they explore new media through the lens of their favorite stories. They engage their
imaginations and hands to make several pieces of literature-related art and have the
opportunity to dramatize a familiar story through acting, song and dance to bringing
their artwork to life!

Printmaking, the original way of making a stamp to create multiple copies of an image,
is a fascinating artform that is easier than it looks! Participants in this week-long
program draw, carve, assemble, and print their own images through techniques ranging
from relief block printing to collograph to monoprinting! (Don’t know what those words

Lots Of Knots (Gr 3-4) VS02C19

Knitting, weaving, macrame! Yarn and string can be used for so much more than
friendship bracelets (although participants can make those too)! Learn the secrets of

This one-of-a-kind program takes a fast and furious a look at the amazing phenomenon
of the flash mob, in order to plan and execute its very own! Participants may find

other top-secret details. The flash mob comes to life on the third and final day of the
program!

The Break A Leg Troupe is back! In this fast-paced two-week program, participants will
take a favorite work of literature and transform it into a one-of-a-kind theatre piece!
Participants will explore the roles of playwright, actor, designer, and more! Then, during
the final days of the program, the Break A Leg Troupe will tour to local libraries and
perform for public audiences. Participants will also perform for family and friends at the
MCA on the final Friday afternoon.

Zimbabwe, participants engage in cultural awareness through art making. This program

Dust off that quill pen and get ready to draft a one-of-a-kind Shakespearean epic worthy

Participants in this program take inspiration from the “Please Touch the Art” exhibit to

Sing! Dance! Design! In Tiny Triple Threats, our youngest participants get a chance
to experience the many aspects of theatrical production. I have a feeling we’re not in
Watertown anymore! Take a tour of the Emerald City, build a Yellow Brick Road, or
transform into a musical munchkin in this program celebrating the whimsical world of L.
Frank Baum’s beloved Oz stories through the performing and visual arts. This program
culminates in an imaginative showcase and exhibit on Friday for family and friends.

Broadway Bootcamp Session 1 (Gr 3-8) VS07B19

This smash hit summer program is an exciting opportunity to mount a musical on the
MainStage in just two weeks! Celebrate the circle of life in the cast of The Lion King Jr.!
The ensemble will bring this timeless tale of lions, hyenas, pride, and identity to the
stage in new and creative ways. This musical intensive will have participants singing,
dancing, and acting their way to a performance on August 16. In addition to playing a
role onstage, all participants will work on backstage committees to bring costumes,
props, and other production elements to life! Please note this is the first of 2 sessions of
Broadway Bootcamp, each lasting 2 weeks.

Needles, thread, fabric and imagination converge during this favorite program!
Participants explore hand sewing and embroidery, fabric dyeing, machine sewing, and

the end of the program. No previous experience necessary. This program culminates in
an exhibit on Friday for family and friends.

+ Story Explorers - Sensational Art (Gr K-2) VS09A19

In Story Explorers, participants explore new media of art through the lens of their
favorite stories. Draw inspiration from the current MCA exhibit, “Please Touch the
Art,” where viewers are encouraged to use senses other than sight to experience the
art. Participants get in touch with all of their senses to create art that can be touched,
heard, smelled and more! This program culminates in an imaginative showcase and
exhibit on Friday for family and friends.

Broadway Bootcamp Session 2 (Gr 3-8) VS09B19

This smash hit summer program is an exciting opportunity to mount a musical on the
MainStage in just two weeks! Oh my god, you guys! Join the cast of the fun and fresh
musical Legally Blonde Jr., a sassy story that smashes stereotypes as pink purses and
Harvard law briefcases collide! This musical intensive will have participants singing,
dancing, and acting their way to a performance on August 30. In addition to playing a
role onstage, all participants will work on backstage committees to bring costumes,
props, and other production elements to life! Please note this is the second of 2 sessions
of Broadway Bootcamp, each lasting 2 weeks.

Making Your Mark (Gr 3-4) VS09C19

Ever try painting with a 3 foot long paint brush? How about painting upside down?
Participants will draw inspiration from famous artists and their own minds as they learn
to paint in entirely new ways. Aspiring artists also experiment with a variety of painting
styles as they learn to truly make marks their own. This program culminates in an exhibit

WCT’s Teen Musical Institute offers motivated teen performers the opportunity to
sharpen their performance skills as they collaborate towards a fully-staged performance
of Chicago on our MainStage! Participants in this three-week program will focus
intensively on character creation, text analysis, musicality and movement, culminating
in a performance on Thursday August 1 at 7 pm. This is an application-based program.
To receive the application, please submit a headshot or snapshot and resume to

Stage Combat (Gr 8-12, Morning) VS08D19

Punch, slap, and parry your way through the fundamentals of stage combat!
Participants in this fast-paced, physical intensive will learn techniques for armed and
unarmed combat onstage, creating the illusion of chaos and danger in a safe, controlled
way. From movement and flexibility to stage presence and teamwork, participants will
regale audiences with their new skills in a showcase on Friday morning.

Hair And Makeup Design (Gr 8-12, Afternoon) VS10E19

In this hands-on intensive, participants will discover the art of stage hair and makeup,
whether starting from scratch or building upon techniques they already know. Emphasis
will be placed on how hair and makeup design can be used to create characters from
realistic to fantastical, as participants explore a range of styles, including special effects
makeup. Students will experiment with and apply these new skills during the week-long
intensive, culminating in a design presentation on Friday afternoon.

GENERAL INFORMATION
All classes are held at the Dorothy and Charles
Mosesian Center for the Arts (unless otherwise
indicated), located at 321 Arsenal Street in
Watertown, MA. For directions, visit our web site at

Adult classes are open to students 17 years or older.
Only registered students may attend classes. There
are no visitors allowed in the classes at the Mosesian
Center for the Arts.
PARKING
Parking at the Arsenal on the Charles complex is
FREE at a centrally located 6 floor parking garage,
as well as a large number of ground level parking
spots around the campus. Spots fill quickly during
business hours.
TUITION
Tuition must be paid at the time of registration. Our
preferred method of registration is via our online
system and can be found at www.mosesianarts.org/
education. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover,
AMEX, and personal checks made payable to
Mosesian Center for the Arts. To register by phone,
please call 617-926-ARTS (2787), Mon–Fri, 12 - 5 pm.
Early registration is highly recommended, as classes
fill early or may be cancelled due to insufficient
enrollment.
TUITION ASSISTANCE

provide a limited number of student scholarships

MEMBER DISCOUNT
To enjoy discounts on adult classes, join the
Mosesian Center for the Arts at the Contributor
Membership level of $40. Minimum of Donor
Membership $75 required for children’s class

CONFIRMATION/SCHEDULE CHANGES
Your registration will be confirmed by email. The
Mosesian Center for the Arts reserves the right to
cancel under-enrolled classes, change instructors
when necessary and reschedule classes as needed.

REFUND POLICY
School-year programs: Full refunds will be made if
a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.
Student cancellations must be received at least 5
business days prior to production/class/workshop
start date and a $25 cancellation fee will be
deducted from the refund. After that time tuition will
be refunded, minus the $25 fee, ONLY if your child’s
space is filled by another participant. Students who
are eligible for a refund may choose, in lieu of a
refund, to have their tuition transferred to another
class within the same term (with the exception
of private lessons). Short-term workshops and
membership fees are not refundable.
Summer Vacation programs: Full refunds will
be made if a class is cancelled due to insufficient
enrollment. Student cancellations must be received
at least 5 business days prior to production/class/
workshop start date and a $25 cancellation fee
will be deducted from the refund. For withdrawals
made before June 1, a $25 cancellation fee will be
deducted from the refund. After that time tuition will

PHOTOS/VIDEO
Photographs and video will occasionally be
taken during classes and programs and used for
promotional purposes. If you have concerns, please
inform us when you register.
SUPPLIES
Adults are responsible for their own supplies,
unless otherwise stated in the course description.
Children’s classes include supplies, unless stated in
the course description.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the case of bad weather, morning classes at the
Mosesian Center for the Arts are cancelled when
the Watertown Public School System is closed. For
afternoon and evening cancellations, please check
our website or call 617-926-ARTS (2787). An update
will be posted by 12 noon.

Browse programs, and when you find the program(s) you’re interested in, click on the
Register link to get started.

NEXT STEPS

1. Add program to cart by choosing a quantity next to the price in the drop-down menu,
