2 MAIN TRACK MAINTENANCE RELEASE INFORMATION

2.1.2 Solved Customer Key Issues and Change Requests

Introduction
This section describes all Key Technical Issues (KTIs), reported by dedicated customers that have been introduced in this
maintenance release.

KTI implementation overview

Following KTIs that have been reported by dedicated customers have been implemented:

Topic Page
Starting telnet session from within a telnet CLI session to a Business Technicolor Gateway is not possible 13

VoIP dial plan wrong entry priority on Technicolor Gateway 13

500 SIP message is sent by Technicolor Gateway when INFO SIP message is received 13

UPnP NAPT template time-out behaviour causes issues with PlayStation 3 Games 13

Technicolor Gateway restarts as soon as it receives a 606 SIP message 13

mSSID configuration is not working in the IGD datamodel 14

Technicolor Gateway sends 400 SIP message after receiving re-INVITE SIP message if BYE SIP message 14
was sent before

Interoperability issue of Technicolor Gateway against Microsoft XBOX 360 14

Starting telnet session from within a telnet CLI session to a Business Technicolor Gateway is not
possible
The issue where it is not possible to start telnet sessions from within the Business Technicolor Gateway Command Line
Interface (CLI) as previously available on past generation business Technicolor Gateway products, has been solved.

VoIP dial plan wrong entry priority on Technicolor Gateway

The issue where a dial plan entry 2-8 is interpreted as a prefix matching of three digits length instead of one, has been
solved.

500 SIP message is sent by Technicolor Gateway when INFO SIP message is received
The issue where the Technicolor Gateway responds with a 500 Server Internal Error SIP response instead of a 200 OK SIP
response in reply of an INFO SIP request without message body by a User Agent (UA) server, has been solved.

UPnP NAPT template time-out behaviour causes issues with PlayStation 3 Games
The issue where after a lease expire of a UPnP NAPT template port mapping, the port cannot be created anymore by the
Technicolor Gateway (causing interoperability problems with some online games) due to a limitation of the maximum time-
out value supported by the Technicolor Gateway compared to UPnP specification, has been solved.

Technicolor Gateway restarts as soon as it receives a 606 SIP message

The issue where the Technicolor Gateway restarts as soon as it receives a 606 Not Acceptable SIP response, has been
solved.

2 MAIN TRACK MAINTENANCE RELEASE INFORMATION

mSSID configuration is not working in the IGD datamodel

The issue where the Technicolor Gateway IGD data model fails to correctly create mSSID interfaces when a second (or any
further additional) virtual SSID is added via the CLI, has been solved.

Technicolor Gateway sends 400 SIP message after receiving re-INVITE SIP message if BYE SIP
message was sent before
The issue where in case both caller parties of an IMS to PSTN call hang up at the same time, the re-INVITE request from the
Central Office (CO) SIP server is responded by the Technicolor Gateway with a 400 Bad Request SIP response in case it
had sent a BYE SIP request already (because of the hang-up), has been solved. The Technicolor Gateway will respond now
with a 481 Call/Transaction Does Not Exist SIP response according to RFC3261.

Interoperability issue of Technicolor Gateway against Microsoft XBOX 360

 The issue where due to interoperability issues of the Technicolor Gateway Digital Media server (DMS), media streaming
to a Microsoft XBOX 360 from a local PC may fail, has been solved.

2 MAIN TRACK MAINTENANCE RELEASE INFORMATION

2.1.3 Fixes, Improvements and Corrective Modifications

Introduction
This chapter will describe all issues found and known in earlier Technicolor Gateway platform software releases that have
been fixed in this maintenance release.

Overview of solved issues

 The issue where the Voice LED stays on even if none of the configured UAs is registered, or in case no external UAs are
configured (due to the fact that an Technicolor Gateway internal UA is always registered), has been solved.
 The issue where after a restart of the Technicolor Gateway VoIP profiles are not registered anymore (introduced in
Main Track Slotted Release R8.4.2 Maintenance 1), has been solved.
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway - in case a new outbound proxy address is received - sends INVITE SIP
requests to the new address instead of first re-registering the SIP account, causing outgoing calls to fail, has been solved.
 The issue where adding or modifying voice profiles with a complete AOR results in a restart of the Technicolor Gateway,
has been solved.
 An improved physical layer modem label has been introduced for VDSL2 Technicolor Gateway products. See
“3.4 Physical Layer Firmware information” on page 34 for more information.

2 MAIN TRACK MAINTENANCE RELEASE INFORMATION

2.2.1 Fixes, Improvements and Corrective Modifications

Introduction
This chapter will describe all issues found and known in earlier Technicolor Gateway platform software releases that have
been fixed in this maintenance release.

Overview of solved issues

 The issue where in multiple WAN connection scenarios with specific connections for specific traffic ongoing VoIP calls
are interrupted if a non-VoIP WAN PPP interface goes down, has been solved.
 The issue where it has been observed that after an WAN port auto-sensing session completion and the redirect GUI
function enabled, the GUI is not accessible anymore in the web browser session and the web browser must be quit and
started again first before the GUI can be accessed again, has been solved.
 The issue where the voice profiles and PPP connections are not properly terminated when performing a platform
software switch-over on dual-bank Technicolor Gateway products, has been solved.
 The issue where the XMLCOM Web Application development Framework (WAF) is not enabled on the
Technicolor TG589vn, Technicolor TG670 and Technicolor TG672 Technicolor Gateway products, has been solved.
 The issue where UPnP port map creations fail, though reported as successfully created, in case the interface name to
which the port map applies is too long (i.e. longer than 32 characters), has been solved.

Selectable Authentication on Service Access

The Technicolor Gateway allows configuring whether a service access is authenticated locally or via the Remote
Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) server, for example:
 IPSec-User: authentication via RADIUS
 Host-Access via HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Telnet: local authentication

WAN Port Auto-Sensing dependent HTTP Intercepting

The Technicolor Gateway WAN port auto-sensing mechanism has been coupled with the HTTP intercept (HTTPi) web
server. This allows redirecting the user to specific pages depending on the result of the WAN sensing process.

Improved WAN Port Auto-Sensing behaviour

The WAN port auto-sensing mechanism itself has been extended to support automatic re-auto-sensing in case:
 the Technicolor Gateway restarts
 a hard/soft reset to defaults has been done
 potential WAN port change due to:
 Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) synchronization interruption
 Ethernet WAN port disconnection
 3G fall-back connection interruption (see also “3G HSDPA/HSUPA USB adapter support on Technicolor Gateway” on
page 28).
In all other cases, the client configuration remains the same. Before triggering auto-sensing, the Technicolor Gateway will
verify that a change in the current situation has occurred.

Unlimited number of files on Digital Media Server

The file limit on the Digital Media Server (DMS) has been lifted. The number of files on USB storage devices connected to
the Technicolor Gateway can now exceed 5000. Search times are optimized through pre-indexing.
As the Technicolor Gateway writes an inventory file to the profiled USB storage device, at least 250MB free storage
must be available on the USB storage device.

3 NEW FEATURES

Provision for Technicolor Gateway content & media sharing support for USB storage devices using
EXT2 or EXT3 file systems
Upon request and feasibility, the Technicolor Gateway can be customized to support content & media sharing
for USB storage devices using the Second EXTended filesystem (EXT2) and Third EXTended filesystem (EXT3)
journaling file systems; this on top of the default File Allocation Table 32 (FAT32) file system and optional New
Technology File System (NTFS) and/or the Hierarchical File System Plus (HFS+) file systems the
Technicolor Gateway supports.
By default Technicolor Gateway products supporting content & media sharing of hard disk content
only support hard disk media using the FAT32 file system.
Please contact your Technicolor sales and/or technical support representative for more information
on provisioning of content & media sharing with NTFS, HFS+ and/or EXT2/EXT3 support.

Improved LAN Device Discovery Mapping

The Technicolor Gateway Device Discovery manager has been extended to now also correctly map Local Area Network
(LAN) devices that report their host name correctly via Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP). as a consequence, such
devices are shown on the GUI network topology page with their descriptive (DNS) host name (instead of Unknown-<MAC
address>).

Release of stopped DHCP leases

The issue where, if a DHCP client requests an IP address and the Technicolor Gateway DHCP server for some reason
declines the IP address and sets the lease IP address to the state “stopped” with the consequence that it will then never offer
a new IP address to that DHCP client until the Technicolor Gateway is restarted, has been solved.

Support for Ethernet frames with MTU of 1530 bytes

The Technicolor Gateway now dynamically supports the use of so-called “Mini Jumbo” Ethernet frames with Maximum
Transmission Unit (MTU) 1530 bytes, next to the standard frames with MTU 1518 bytes. On top the MTU/Maximum
Receive Unit (MRU) has been made configurable.

Maximum of 4096 simultaneous connections

The maximum number of simultaneous connections the Technicolor Gateway product can handle has been increased from
2000 to 4096 for following Residential Technicolor Gateway products:
 THOMSON TG587(i)n v2
 Technicolor TG589(i)vn
 THOMSON TG784(i)
 THOMSON TG784(i)n
 THOMSON TG787
 THOMSON TG789(i)vn
 THOMSON TG797(i)n v2

3 NEW FEATURES

Controlled Active/Passive platform software support on dual-bank Technicolor Gateway products

The platform software upgrade mechanism for Technicolor Gateway that feature a dual-bank software memory, has been
extended with support for controlled local platform software switch-over via CLI and TR-069. On Business
Technicolor Gateway products, the switch-over can be done via the GUI.
Whereas platform software upgrades using the Technicolor Gateway Upgrade Wizard CD are usually performed
using the BLI-image, local upload of a passive platform software for switch-over purposes to the
Technicolor Gateway are exclusively to be done using the RBI-image, hence never with a BLI-image.
Furthermore, switch-over conditions can be configured (time of day schedule, time-out, scheduled/automatic/manual-
only,...).

GUI support of CIDR-based IP Address / subnet mask entries

The Technicolor Gateway GUI has been improved to now also allow to specify IP addresses with Classless Inter-Domain
Routing (CIDR) notation, i.e. for example 192.168.1.1/24, on top of traditional IP Address / full subnet mask (i.e. for example
192.168.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0).

Support for iLBC codec

The Technicolor Gateway supports the Internet Low Bitrate Codec (iLBC). This voice codec uses independent speech
frames, and thus avoids error propagation in case of lost or delayed frames.

Support for AMR codec

The Technicolor Gateway supports the Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) audio codec.

Quick data link for DECT phones

Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) Phones that are certified with Technicolor Gateway products,
support the Cf link (fast DECT data link) that allows quicker access to list access features, such as phonebook and call lists.

Serial Hunt Group support

The Technicolor Gateway supports telephone call hunt groups. This allows defining groups of DECT or FXS phones
connected to the Technicolor Gateway.
When a line is called and not picked up, a round-robin mechanism starts where the call automatically reverts to the next
phone in the group until the call is picked up. The line where the call is picked is automatically moved the to the last place in
the next round-robin in order to automatically spread the call load. Users can log in or out of the group when coming in or
going out of the office. Hunt groups also allow a user to pick up another phone with his/her machine.

SIP Server Call Transfer Extension

The call transfer mechanism of the Technicolor Gateway Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Server (if enabled) has been
extended so that “local call transfer on ActiveHeld call” supplementary service is supported. This service is applied equally
on all internal SIP User Agents (UA), i.e. it is not supported to enable “local call transfer on ActiveHeld call” for a single
internal UA, while local call transfer is disabled on another one.

DHCP Option 120 Behaviour Configuration

DHCP option 120 (SIP Server Option) carries either a 32-bit IPv4 address or the Domain Name Server (DNS) fully-qualified
domain name, needed by the SIP client to locate the SIP server. If option 120 carries a Domain name, the behaviour depends
on the transport and port parameters. RFC3361 compliancy is attained by enforcing transport=undefined and port=none.
This results in Name Authority PointeR (TR) resolving. This behaviour can now be configured.

3 NEW FEATURES

Aligned SIP URI configuration across all Technicolor Gateway management interfaces
In previous releases, when the SIP Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) contains a preceding sip: and appending @domain,
these are removed from the SIP URI when actually storing the profile. From this release onwards, the complete URI is taken
into account, and new logic defines how to construct the Address Of Record (AOR).
On top, the configuration of the SIP URI always has the same effect, regardless the Technicolor Gateway management
interface that is used (CLI, GUI, TR-069, TR-104).

XMLCOM Web Application Development framework

The Technicolor Gateway Service Management Layer has been abstracted and is available via a web server in the WAN.
This allows service providers to develop & deploy services from the network on any Internet-enabled device in the LAN &
WAN.
The so-called XMLCOM is a web service that can run on the Technicolor Gateway and can be addressed to access the
device's resources. It uses a proprietary XML data representation, and is transported over HTTP.
XMLCOM has been designed from a browser's perspective:
 How to get data from the gateway into the browser environment,
 Without the need of external plugins or applications,
 In a generic and extensible manner,
 But still being high-performing.
This web service can also be addressed from a gateway remote management perspective (for example a Portal), so these
resources become accessible from a WAN (application) server.
This feature is provided for DEMO purposes only!
It must not be publicly deployed in the field and is provided for testing/validation purposes only (Customer
Acceptance Feature).

Support for up to 250 telephone numbers on a PBX connected to VoIP-enabled Business

Technicolor Gateway
VoIP-enabled Technicolor Gateway Business products support up to 250 telephone number entries in the location database
for a Private Branch eXchange (PBX) connected to the Technicolor Gateway (and registered via a single IP address).
Equally the Technicolor Gateway supports to relay up to 250 bi-directional end-to-end sessions with a maximum of 100
simultaneous sessions.

TR-064 service extensions

The TR-064 framework has been extended to allow configuration of the static WAN IP address via TR-064 with the
WANIPConnection and LANHostConfigManagement parameter sets.

Optimized Technicolor Gateway power consumption control & management

Technicolor commits to prove its commitment to protect the environment through the Automatic Power State Control.
While other products only can statically control their power consumption, this unique feature allows the
Technicolor Gateway to constantly monitor the user activity and to instantly use this information to optimize its power
consumption and of its peripheral connections; i.e when there is no or low user activity, the Technicolor Gateway can
automatically:
 Reduce the clock frequency of the central processor; as a lowered clock frequency will result in a lower power
consumption;
 Reduce the Ethernet functionality to mere link detection when there are no devices connected to the Ethernet port;
 Switch the wireless interface to a reduced power mode in case no active wireless hosts are connected, in which the access
point is still available for connection while the unused functions are turned off.

TR-069 CWMP extensions on dual-bank Technicolor Gateway

The Technicolor Gateway CPE WAN Management Protocol (CWMP) Internet Gateway Device (IGD) data model features
following new extensions:
 InternetGatewayDevice.DeviceInfo.X_000E50_SoftwareVersionPassiveBank
 InternetGatewayDevice.DeviceConfig.X_000E50_SwitchtoPassiveBank
These IGD parameters allow remote controlled dual bank platform software switch-over on supporting
Technicolor Gateway products.

Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) interface (hence Ethernet WAN remains as WAN interface) and then the Virtual Local
Area Network (VLAN) IDs are changed by a second STS file, if the WAN interface is attached before the LocalNetwork
interfaces are attached, the IP interfaces are stopped and cannot be attached again, has been solved.

ARP probing extensions

On top of the RFC826 compliant Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) behaviour where initial ARP process does initial
broadcast probing and only later on performs unicast probing, the ARP daemon has been extended and made configurable
to force exclusively broadcast ARP probing.)
By default the Technicolor Gateway ARP probing remains RFC826 compliant, i.e. this new feature is not
enabled by default.

TR-069 IGD flexiport extension to add Set-Top Box

The issue where the extensions to the IGD datamodel done do not fully support to add new IP Set-Top Boxes (STB) (using
DHCP vendor class, or possibly MAC address) to the flexiport functionality of the Technicolor Gateway, has been solved.

Only one-way audio during voice calls when NAT templates are used
The issue where due to shortage of and/or wrong NAT template mappings, one-way audio was observed during voice calls
has been solved by increasing the maximum number of port maps that can be created by the Technicolor Gateway.

Environment variable line-up

The _WL_MACADDR and LWL_MACADDR environment variable have been lined up with the _MACADDR
environment variable: dashes are used as separator and both are full in capitals.

Game TCP connection is going idle and is killed, even if traffic is active on the connection
The issue where the Technicolor Gateway wrongly brings online game Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) connections in
idle state, and eventually kills them even if traffic is flowing on the connection, has been solved.

WPA wireless encryption key cannot be retrieved via remote management

The issue where, as stipulated in TR-089, in the IGD data model the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) wireless encryption key
passphrase, pre-shared key) is not shown in American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII), with the
consequence that the WPA passphrase cannot be retrieved via remote management, has been solved for selected
customers.

THOMSON TG784 restarts when resetting or restarting Set-Top Box and IPQos is applied
The issue where applying Internet Protocol Quality of Service (IPQoS) to Internet and Internet Protocol TeleVision (TV)
PVCs may cause the THOMSON TG784(i) to restart as soon as STBs connected to the Technicolor Gateway are reset, or
restarted, has been solved.

Support for a network supported CCBS in combination with delayed BYE SIP message
The Technicolor Gateway supports via the CLI to enable/disable delayed BYE SIP requests in case of a Completion of Calls
to Busy Subscribers (CCBS) call.

3 NEW FEATURES

INFO with DTMF (forced signalling) is only sent after receiving remote SDP
The issue where the INFO SIP request containing a Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) is only sent once the call is in a
state where the remote Session Description Protocol (SDP) is received if DTMF is set for forced signalling, has been solved.
The solution is that the INFO SIP request containing the DTMF is sent without preconditions, i.e. is immediately sent after
sending the INVITE SIP request.

The Technicolor Gateway cannot detect digits in case of pulse dialing

The issue where the Technicolor Gateway is unable to detect the digit in case the connected phone is using pulse dialing, has
been solved.

VoIP SIP application is bound to Technicolor Gateway 127.0.0.1 loop address

The issue where it has been observed that the Technicolor Gateway fails to register SIP UAs do to the fact that in case the
DHCP-enabled interface to which the VoIP SIP application is bound has no IP address yet, the VoIP SIP application is bound
to the Technicolor Gateway product’s loop address 127.0.0.1, has been solved.

xDSL over ISDN (Annex-B): the loop attenuation downstream is too high.
The issue where higher loop attenuation values are measured than the theoretical ones for PE05 loops, has been solved.

Certificates may be lost after a platform software upgrade of the Technicolor Gateway
The issue where it has been observed that certificates may be lost after restarting the Technicolor Gateway, has been solved.

4 FIXES, IMPROVEMENTS AND CORRECTIVE MODIFICATIONS

CWMP / Datamodel / TR-069

 The issue where changing Network Address Port Translation (NAPT) port mappings via the IGD data model is not
possible, has been solved.
 The issue where although the total amount of packets is counted (both received/sent) for the IGD WLAN LANDevice,
the total amount of bytes (both received/sent) remains 0, has been solved.
 The issue where although the total amount of bytes is counted (both received/sent) for the IGD
WANCommonInterface, the total amount of packets (both received/sent) doesn't return any value, has been solved.
 The issue where some datamodel parameters of type ‘boolean’, ‘int’ and ‘unsignedint’ are empty in the IGD datamodel,
which is not in line with TR-098 specification, potentially causing problems with ACS test scenarios, has been solved.
DHCP / IPCP / DNS / Dynamic DNS
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway is not able to registering more than 64 DHCP IP addresses leases and becomes
unstable and has been observed to restart once more DHCP leases registrations are attempted, has been solved.
ECO
 The issue where Bye SIP message retransmissions by the remote SIP server are required due to the fact that a
Technicolor Gateway may return in low-power mode too quickly after a voice call is finished, with the consequence that
the 200 OK SIP message cannot be sent anymore by the VoIP application, has been solved.
 To prevent potential stability issues of the Technicolor Gateway, the ECO CPU low-speed feature has been disabled by
default.
GUI / Firmware Embedded Help / Embedded Easy Setup / Lua
 The issue where on the Technicolor Gateway products that were introduced in the Main Track Slotted Release R8.4.2, on
the Technicolor Gateway GUI, some items and strings shown still refer to the previous branding, has been solved.
 The issue where creating port maps via the GUI with a range larger than 10000 requires a restart of the
Technicolor Gateway to be applied effectively, has been solved.
 The issue where in case local hosts have an unidentified IP address in the Technicolor Gateway device discovery (and
hence identified with IP address 0.0.0.0 by the device discovery manager) it is not possible to assign a Game, and/or
Application to a user-defined IP address, has been solved.
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway has been observed to restart when:
 creating a port mapping on the Game & Application Sharing page of the Technicolor Gateway GUI,
 browsing to the Game & Application Sharing page of the Technicolor Gateway GUI after applying a user
configuration with specific port mappings defined,
has been solved.
 The issue where it is not possible to remove the functionality to switch to another user on the Technicolor Gateway GUI
(and hide the corresponding links and tasks on the GUI) via a customization of the platform software, has been solved.
 Various Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) flaws of the Technicolor Gateway GUI have been fixed.
 The issue where certain configuration sections - among other the IP (interface(s)) configuration, and DHCP
configuration(s) - are not restored, when restoring a user configuration backup file via the GUI, has been solved.
 The issue where, when running the embedded Easy Setup wizard of the Technicolor Gateway with multiple service
templates (i.e. more than the standard set) and going back in the wizard (through clicking Back) until the service
template list, not all templates are listed anymore, has been solved.
IGMP / Video
 The issue where in case Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) snooping is disabled on all physical Ethernet ports
of the Technicolor Gateway bridge, after saving the configuration and restart, the Technicolor Gateway is not able to start
up anymore, has been solved.
 The issue where on VDSL2 Technicolor Gateway products configured for routed VLAN over the bridge, in case the
WAN flag is set on the VDSL line, routed video is not possible, has been solved.

4 FIXES, IMPROVEMENTS AND CORRECTIVE MODIFICATIONS

IP Acceleration / IP Forwarding / IP Routing / Connection Reservation

 The issue where deteriorated web surfing performance has been observed in stressed (non-VoIP) scenarios not using
connection reservation and with IP Acceleration (AIP) enabled do to AIP stream sessions not being removed when idle,
has been solved.
NA(P)T / NAT ALG / Game & Application Sharing
 The issue where the SIP Application Layer Gateway (ALG) doesn’t interpret “received” parameter correctly, for example,
additional (incorrect) pinhole connections are created in case a SIP application registers to an Asterisk SIP server, has
been solved.
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway wrongly brings online game TCP connections in idle state, and eventually kills
them, even if traffic is flowing on the connection, has been solved.
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway fails to (re-)create proper NAT port mappings for P2P client after deleting and
re-creating the PPP interface, because the Technicolor Gateway fails to clean up the bindblacklist after deletion of the
PPP interface, has been solved.UPnP
 The issue where no transparent NAT map is added for the public DHCP subnet in PPP-subnet-passthrough scenarios,
with the consequence that address translation is applied on the public subnet lease addresses of local hosts instead of
being transparently passed through the Technicolor Gateway, has been solved.
Physical Layer - ADSL/ADSL2+
 The issue where it is not possible to enable/disable the Technicolor Gateway Dying Gasp function when it runs a multi-
processing platform software OS (GoMP), has been solved.
Physical Layer - VDSL2
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway has been observed to fail to re-synchronize to VDSL2, after subsequently
synchronizing to ADSL(2+), VDSL2,... during WAN port Auto-sensing mode has been solved.
 All VDSL2 PSD masks for Longitudinal Output Voltage (LOV) testing as defined by the VDSL2 standard are now
supported.
Quality of Service
 The issue where PPPoE Active Discovery (PAD) messages (PADI, PADO, PADR) do not respect the internal class
setting assigned by PPP with the consequence that derived P-bits are wrong, has been solved.
Services - OSGi / Web Application development Framework
 Various instability issues of the OSGi framework that have been observed, causing the Technicolor Gateway to crash at
restart (for example after a platform software upgrade), have been solved.
Services - UPnP AV / Content Sharing
 The issue where a TR-069 platform software upgrade of the Technicolor Gateway will fail in case a disk is connected to
the Technicolor Gateway USB port and set as managed disk, has been solved.

 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway stops responding when flushing configured Syslog rules via the CLI, in case the
maximum number of Syslog rules (i.e. 16 rules) were configured, has been solved.
VoIP - General / SIP / DECT
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway restarts when setting up a VoIP call in case “Connection Information” comes
after “Media Description” in the message body of the SIP frame from the UA, has been solved.
 The issue where when pressing digits A-D, a DTMF event is detected (and a syslog event is seen on CLI), but the event is
not added in the SIP INFO message, has been solved.
 The issue where a 3-party call is terminated if during a 3-party call HF+0 is pressed, has been solved.

42 This document contains Technicolor proprietary and confidential information. Passing on and copying of this document, use, extraction and
communication of its contents, is not permitted without written authorization from Technicolor.
4 FIXES, IMPROVEMENTS AND CORRECTIVE MODIFICATIONS

 The issue where, in case a Technicolor Gateway remote platform software upgrade is triggered via TR-069, VoIP calls are
terminated by the Technicolor Gateway by sending a BYE SIP message, upon which the SIP account is unregistered, due
to the fact that the Technicolor Gateway is not responding to the subsequent digest authentication request of the voice
platform (as it doesn’t take it into account), the other party of the call is kept in the call for several minutes until the voice
platforms times it out and sends a BYE SIP message to the other party, has been solved.
 The issue where the value of the SIP outbound proxy cannot be updated/overwritten by a received DHCP option 120
parameter, has been solved.
 The issue where deleting one of multiple existing profiles may cause the profile mapping between profile and assigned
phones to shift (i.e. phones are not assigned to the profile as previously configured) after restarting the
Technicolor Gateway, has been solved.
 The issue where, when an external call is done to a local phone (with authentication) with CFNR enabled, the last INVITE
message using the new credentials for the forward phone number is not sent to this forward phone number but again to
the original phone, has been solved.
 The issue where it is not possible to set the SIP registerExpire value to 3600 (while it is possible to change the value to 0
(zero)) via CLI while it is possible via TR-069, has been solved.
 The issue where it is not possible to assign a different ring tone for an incoming internal call on a DECT phone (as the
Technicolor Gateway cannot distinguish internal from external DECT phone calls), has been solved.
 The issue where the SIP UA is still intercepting the DTMF events, with the consequence that no INFO message is sent in
case forced signalling is enabled (for the purpose of applying DTMF signalling in the provisional phase of the call,
meaning that DTMF will be sent inside INFO messages between the 183 and the 200 OK SIP message) and all DTMF
events are to be sent in a SIP INFO message, regardless the presence or absence of capabilities indicated in SIP protocol
(for example, not dependent of the received Allow, Accept header), has been solved.
 The issue where DTMF INFO cannot be sent after 183 Progress and before 200 OK SIP messages, has been solved.
 The issue where the registrar port cannot be changed in case the proxy port is an Fully Qualified Domain Name
(FQDN), has been solved.
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway cannot register anymore after a VoIP registration attempt with credentials that
fails due to receiving a 503 “Service unavailable” SIP message, has been solved.
 The issue where in case a re-registration attempt of the Technicolor Gateway fails due to a changed (wrong) password
change on the SIP proxy, subsequent registration attempts will continue to fail, even if the password is changed back
again to its original (correct) value, has been solved.
 The issue where after a restart of the Technicolor Gateway the Technicolor Gateway SIP Server does not re-attempt to
register anymore after a VoIP registration attempt with credentials that fails due to receiving a 401 “Unauthorized” SIP
message, has been solved.
 The issue where the Technicolor Gateway has been observed to restart when it receives a 503 “service unavailable” SIP
error message after sending an SIP invite, has been solved.
 The issue where the THOMSON TG789vn does not comply to the loop interruption insensitivity requirements of some
specific customers, has been be solved.
VoIP - SIP Server
 The issue where the SIP server implementation does not foresee a configurable SIP registration timer, has been solved.
 The issue where a SIP Server transfer operation fails due to the fact that the RE-INVITE does not contain the Referred-
By and Replaces fields anymore if an authentication invite is needed, has been solved.
Wireless
 The issue where it is not possible to modify the wireless security pre-shared key for WPA(2) through TR-069, has been
solved.
 The issue where the SSID returns to the factory default value or another unexpected value after a restart of the
Technicolor Gateway in case the SSID contains one or more spaces, or quotation marks, has been solved.

4.2 Modified Features and Optimizations

Modified features and optimization overview
Following existing features have been modified:

Topic Page
Random UDP source port assignment 45

Random UDP source port assignment

To avoid a malicious hacker to predict UDP source port assignments triggered and used by certain applications, by default
the UDP source port assignment is done randomly. The UDP source port assignment method is made configurable to allow
to force traditional incremental assignment of the port for compatibility with applications that rely on incremental UDP
source port assignment (for example Skype).

5 KNOWN ISSUES AND RESTRICTIONS

Detailed overview
ATM
 On VDSL2 Technicolor Gateway products, ATM loopback is not working properly.
 On VDSL2 Technicolor Gateway products, ATM tracing is not working properly.
 On VDSL2 Technicolor Gateway products, starting an ATM ping on an ATM interface upon which a PPP connection is
configured and connected, disconnects the PPP connections.
 On VDSL2 Technicolor Gateway products, the ATM QoS VBR shaper is not working properly. For CBR no issues have
been reported.
Bridge / VLAN / Bridge Filter / Ethernet
 The state of the bridge port is not propagated to higher layers in a VDSL2 Technicolor Gateway product. As a
consequence, in VDSL2 scenarios where the Technicolor Gateway acts as DHCP client, if the VDSL2 line re-
synchronizes, the corresponding bridge port goes down temporarily, yet this is not propagated to IP level, which means
that the Technicolor Gateway ARP table is not updated. When the VDSL2 line is then restored again, no traffic is possible
anymore until the ARP entry to the old DHCP IP address is requested again (ARP time-out), and the ARP entries at the
Central Office (CO) ISAM are updated again.
 On Technicolor Gateway Business products unknown VLAN packets coming from the WAN are dropped in case ingress
filtering is enabled.
 Streams based on DTRC precedence do not follow the TOS precedence mapping table, mapping TOS field/precedence
to an internal VBUF priority indirectly indirect to a VLAN user priority/PCP.
 VLAN tagged IGMP frames cannot be forwarded in a transparent bridge scenario.
CWMP / Datamodel / TR-069
 The Technicolor Gateway does not support TR-069 Upload RPC to a communicated destination via FTP/HTTP, to
backup, or restore complete Technicolor Gateway configurations.
 If a Technicolor Gateway is restarted during the delay period of a delayed platform software upgrade (indicated by the
ACS), after the restart the Technicolor Gateway sends a “9010 Download Interrupted” in the transferComplete to the
ACS or simply nothing instead of resuming the platform software download. As a consequence the Technicolor Gateway
is not upgraded.
 The WANCommonInterfaceConfig.TotalPacketsSent and Received TR-069 values always return 0 in case a Point to
Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection is set up on VDSL2/Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM), though traffic is
passing through the WAN connection.
Device Manager / Device Discovery / TR-111
 When manually adding a local host entry to the device manager (formerly referred to as host manager) via the CLI, the
device manager is unable to correctly detect the host’s IP addressing type, i.e. DHCP hosts are not recognized as such.
 The Technicolor Gateway device discovery manager (formerly referred to as host manager) sporadically reports the
connection status and connection interface of local hosts incorrect.
DHCP / IPCP / DNS / Dynamic DNS
 It is not possible to simultaneously configure different dynamic DNS services on the same interface.
Ethernet OAM
 Ethernet OAM does not work in bridged scenarios.
GUI / Firmware Embedded Help / Embedded Easy Setup / Lua
 No statistics of transferred VDSL2 (i.e. only in case of VDSL2 line synchronization) data are shown on the GUI.
 The status of FXS and DECT phones is always shown as connected on the GUI Home Network page, regardless of
whether phones are actually connected, or not.
 Occasionally it has been observed that an upload of a user.ini configuration file, or a backup of the configuration via the
GUI may fail. As a workaround, the user should refresh the GUI page (with F5) and retry.
 The WPA RADIUS server settings cannot be configured properly via the Technicolor Gateway Expert GUI pages.

5 KNOWN ISSUES AND RESTRICTIONS

IGMP / Video
 Sporadic IGMP Join and Leave failures (i.e. IGMP packets loss) are observed when zapping extensively.
 High load on the Technicolor Gateway running GoMP platform software (for example heavy LAN-to-LAN routed
traffic) negatively impacts video routed zapping performance, such as too high zapping latencies and video stream errors.
 It has been observed that certain LAN devices (like Network Access Servers (NAS), network printers or wireless clients)
perform an IGMP query of the 241.0.0.1 address, resulting in a freeze of the video stream in a routed video scenario.
IP Acceleration / IP Forwarding / IP Routing / Connection Reservation
 In routed iTV scenarios, packets are out-of-sequence on first connection creation.
 The connection reservation framework (requiring QoS labelling) and current application-based labelling framework (for
which labelling is only effective on initiated traffic from a host application) results in the fact that connections which are
not initiated by a Technicolor Gateway application (for example the VoIP) are not captured by the connection reservation
function, hence are not guaranteed.
As a workaround, labels can be created to capture incoming SIP and RTP traffic, however make sure that the label rules
for VoIP SIP and VoIP RTP traffic are lined up with the Technicolor Gateway service manager configuration (i.e. the
bound SIP port (typically but not necessarily 5060) and dynamic port range (by default 1024-1151, but can be configured
otherwise) are aligned at all time.
 No error is generated by the Technicolor Gateway in case a number of connections are reserved that exceeds the
maximum number of connections reservations possible.
IPSec / VPN / Tunnelling
 Due to a missing LAN IP range, initially setting up a VPN client dial-in session manually (Use Manual Dialup) via the
Expert VPN > VPN Client GUI page will fail. As a workaround, first force the LAN IP range to be updated by the
Technicolor Gateway, by clicking Use Automatic Start (Always On). From then on using manual dial-in for VPN client
sessions will work.
 The Technicolor Gateway cannot relay IPSec packets when the IKE and SP connections are bound to a specific port in
the Technicolor Gateway connection bind list. As a workaround unbind IKE and SP via the CLI.
NA(P)T / NAT ALG / Game & Application Sharing
 NAT maps for a /30 subnet are not OK, when using PPP Public-Subnet-Passthrough unnumbered.
 File transfers using Windows Messenger during a chat session fail from internal to external site. No problems are seen for
file transfers from external to internal site, or when using Live Messenger.
Physical Layer - ADSL/ADSL2+
 On VDSL2 Technicolor Gateway products, after each ADSL(2+) synchronization the first packet coming from the WAN
in an ATM over ADSL(2+) scenario is dropped.
As a possible consequence, in scenarios where the first WAN-to-LAN “trigger” packet is required to set up a
connection session, the connection may be delayed.
For example if the first packet received at the WAN interface is an IGMP query to set up a video stream using a
bridged connection, the stream may only be set up once the second IGMP query is received.
Physical Layer - VDSL2
 Modem label information in the Technicolor Gateway environment variables list is either only showing the ADSL(2+)
modem label version, or identifies the sole VDSL2 modem label wrongly as an ADSL modem label.
Quality of Service
 Queue-based rate limiting has no impact.
Services - DLNA
 While playing a movie (located on the shared content of the Technicolor Gateway) with a DLNA client (for example a
television set), you cannot pause the movie.
Services - UPnP AV / Content Sharing
 A fifth media storage device connected to the Technicolor Gateway is not recognized and can not be read, or profiled.

5 KNOWN ISSUES AND RESTRICTIONS

Services - Parental Control / Web Site Filtering

 Using Parental Control, i.e. URL-based, or content-based filtering, negatively impacts the Technicolor Gateway
download performance.
SNMP / Syslog
 It is not possible to configure and/or modify the SNMPv3 access security groups.
SNTP / Real Time Clock
 The transmit timestamp is not set to 0 (zero) in case the Technicolor Gateway system time is invalid or unreliable.
 SNTP requests from the Technicolor Gateway NTP client are not using the standard UDP port 123.
UPnP / TR-064
 UPnP port maps have been observed to fail on WAN interfaces that have names longer than 17 characters. It is
recommended to use interfaces names that are shorter than 17 characters to avoid observed issue.
VoIP - General / SIP / DECT
 After a restart of the Technicolor Gateway, VoIP profiles are not automatically registered by the Technicolor Gateway.
 It has been observed that the Technicolor Gateway may generate and introduce a buzzing noise in the RTP stream
towards connected phones (DECT and FXS phones) during three-party calls.
 Pressing the DECT registration/paging button on the Technicolor Gateway only launches DECT paging once every two
times.
 In a scenario where DECT handsets are mapped to individual SIP accounts, all answered calls are shared among all DECT
handsets, instead of individual per DECT handset.
 Following CLI commands will, if executed, flush all corresponding tone settings (to none), instead of returning them to
the Technicolor Gateway factory default settings:
 :voice tone patterntable flush
 :voice tone descrtable flush
 :voice tone eventtable flush
 :voice sip reponsemap flush
 In case the DECT handset software upgrade file transferred during a DECT handset Software Upgrade Over The Air
(SUOTA) is corrupted, the DECT handset will still accept it and perform the upgrade. As a consequence, the DECT
handset upgrade will fail and the DECT handset stops working after the corrupted upgrade.
 During the boot process of the Technicolor Gateway, some values of the SIP Server are not, or not correctly loaded from
the default settings and/or user.ini.
Affected values are:
 External UA configuration values
The order of configuring this, is important due to the CLI over MBus implementation.
Therefore, make sure that the external UA configuration is done after the outbound proxy and outbound
registrar configuration (otherwise the external UA configuration is not loaded and applied by the
Technicolor Gateway).
 Registrar Bind
As a workaround, add the :mbus debug loadobjects dmtree atomic path IP.Intf CLI
debug command before the registrar binding configuration (otherwise registrar binding are not configured).
 RTP port range
 In case all phones (FXS phones and DECT handsets) are common and call waiting service is disabled, if a DECT handset
is in a call when another incoming call is received, only the FXS phone(s) will start ringing (normal behaviour). If the
DECT handset now terminates its call, it will start ringing as well for the remaining incoming call (if still not picked up).
However, when answering this call with the DECT handset, only the dial tone is heard and the FXS phone(s) will continue
to ring, i.e. the call is actually not picked up at all.
 In the atomic datamodel, the CallingNumber and CallingName call list parameters remain empty.

communication of its contents, is not permitted without written authorization from Technicolor.
5 KNOWN ISSUES AND RESTRICTIONS

 Adding and deleting multiple voice profiles can result in lost voice profiles after system reboot.

In platform software customizations, the voice port map priority should not be configured higher than eight.

 In scenarios where the voice service provider uses multiple voice proxies in combination with DNS load-balancing, the
Technicolor Gateway may end up in a situation where SIP INVITE messages are sent to a different outbound proxy than
the one they are registered to. In this case, you are no longer able to make voice SIP calls. After a re-registration of the
voice profile or a restart of the Technicolor Gateway the situation is temporary resolved.
VoIP - SIP Server
 When (re-)configuring the Back-to-Back User Agent (B2BUA) external SIP UA via the GUI, the SIP Server fails to
(re-)register. As a workaround, the B2BUA must be disabled and re-enabled first. No problems are observed when
configuring via the CLI.
Wireless
 When using WEP encryption or WPA-TKIP wireless security the throughput performance of the 802.11n wireless
interface is lower than when using no wireless security or WPA2.
Miscellaneous
 In multiple WAN connection scenarios with specific connections for specific traffic, if a particular WAN connection goes
down, traffic designated for this WAN connection uses another WAN connection that may not be designed for this
traffic, or in case of a Dial-on-Demand PPP connection for example, continuously trigger this PPP connection to come
up. In other words, the Technicolor Gateway does not support to configure a service to only use a specific WAN
connection and to block forwarding when this WAN connection is down.
 When uploading a Technicolor Gateway configuration file (user.ini), and loading this configuration via the CLI
(:config load), the SNTP configuration isn’t applied correctly by the Technicolor Gateway.
 It has been observed that the use of SSID interfaces outside the Technicolor Gateway bridge result in a wrong IGD
datamodel representation of these interfaces with the consequence that such interfaces cannot be used via the IGD
datamodel.
