CA3 Error Troubleshooting

TOP

If the message "Unable to load DLLs for communication adapter" appears while using
the CA3, perform the following steps: Uninstall the CA3 Toolkit through
Programs/Features (Windows 7 & 8). Then reinstall the toolkit through CA3 Toolkit
standalone installation or through the service tool installation package.

Wireless Communication Adapter 3 (WCA3) Use with Windows 8 and 8.1

TOP

Due to changes in the Windows 8 and later operating systems, the WCA3 radio may not
work. Microsoft has disabled Ad-Hoc Network Discovery in Windows 8 and later
operating systems, which prevents the WCA3 from being discovered and displayed as a
selectable network connection. In some cases, the special setup and connection
procedure described below may permit the WCA3 radio to work. When using Windows 8
and later operating systems with the WCA3, these instructions replace the setup
instructions in the user manual.

Note: Even with these instructions, the WCA3 radio may still not work for some
combinations of radio and Windows versions. The 349-1206 international radio will
not work with Windows 8.1 because the radio does not broadcast a connection.

Perform the following steps:

Open the "Network and Sharing Center" through the Control Panel.
Select the "Set up a new connection or network" option.
Select the "Manually connect to a wireless network" option.
Click Next.
Enter the Network name. This is the SSID from the WCA3, which is "W-CA3" by
default.
Open a command prompt through the Start menu.
Type the following commands into the command prompt window, replacing <ssid>with
the SSID of your network:
To set the connection as an Ad-Hoc connection, enter:
netsh wlan set profileparameter <ssid> connectiontype=ibss
To connect to the wireless connection, enter the following, replacing <ssid>with
the SSID of your network:
netsh wlan connect <ssid>
When the connection completes, you should be able to configure the service tool in
a normal manner for use with the WCA3.
