Several members went to see a very interesting production of Macbeth by the Teatr Pies´n Kozła’s
Company (English translation Song of theGoat Theatre) at The Point. It was indeed an intricately crafted
combination of text, movement and polyphonic song and once I had given up trying to follow the story and
just watched the performance it became a truly enjoyable experience. Just a shame the music was too loud
and often drowned out the poetic voices.

The Rivals Chichester Festival Theatre

Tuesday 2nd of November. Tickets £23.40
It’s 1775 and the fashionable world descends on Bath, to take the waters, show off its finery, enjoy the
gossip and pursue romance. Among them are some of the most extraordinary comic characters to grace the
stage: the verbally misguided Mrs Malaprop, her absurdly romantic niece, Lydia Languish, the blinkered
Sir Anthony Absolute, the blustering Irishman Sir Lucius O’Trigger and the bumpkin Bob Acres.
Throughout the course of a single day these suitors and schemers and their servants indulge in an
assortment of hilariously extravagant intrigues before everyone is finally and satisfactorily coupled.
Starring Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles

Madness of George III is a brilliant exploration of duty and kingship, an epic play about the ties that bind
us together as family, as a society and as a nation. Gripping drama, dangerous politics and irreverent
comedy collide in a rollercoaster ride where the health of the nation is at the mercy of the mental health of
one man.
Please note that there is a half hour pre-show discussion on the making of the show for anyone interested
in the behind-the-scenes processes involved in bringing it to the stage. All welcome.

The History Boys Chichester Festival Theatre

Tuesday 27th of January. Tickets £23.40
One of the great plays of the decade, The History Boys is set in a school in the North of England where a
boisterous bunch of bright, funny sixth-form boys are attempting to gain entrance to Oxford and
Cambridge whilst fending off the distractions of sport and sex. In Alan Bennett’s much-loved play,
staffroom battles and the anarchy of adolescence provide a rich vein of comedy.
