AS-32 is an anionic anti-sludge agent that is oil- and water-soluble and acid dispersible. It prevents acid and iron-
induced asphaltene sludging from occurring during acidizing treatments. AS-32 also can be used as a wetting
agent, detergent and emulsifier. Typical concentrations range from 0.1 to 1.5% by volume.

Features

Ionic Characteristics
Anionic surface active agent.

Anti-Sludge Agent
Disperses asphaltenes in crude oil, preventing their precipitation during acidizing.

Wettability
Oil-wets carbonate rock and slows the rate of hydrochloric acid reaction, thus deepening penetration of the live
acid.

Compatibility
MMR-2 (silt suspending agent) or mutual solvent may be needed to keep AS-32 dispersed in hydrochloric acid
systems.

Benefits

Water-wets sandstones for improved relative permeability to oil.

Prevents acid/oil emulsions from forming by keeping asphaltene particles dispersed.
Improves solvent efficiency for better removal at asphaltic deposits.

Safety Precautions

Contains alcohol as a solvent and should be handled with the same precautions used with any flammable liquid.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Limitations

Not compatible with cationic surfactants and alkaline materials.
