B’reishith
Genesis, the Beginning.
Gen. 1:1 – 6:8.
I. Each year after the Feast of Tabernacles, the Torah cycle is renewed in
Genesis. Fittingly, the first phrase of the Hebrew scripture [B’reishith – In the
Beginning] defines the intent of all Torah. The ‘Law of First Reference’
dictates – from here – the structure of EVERY BEGINNING! Thus, it
commands our attention. Let’s examine it starting with the numerical value of
the Hebrew letters.
Incidentally, there are many wonderful, hidden clues in the gematria of this
first verse! For instance: Every 7th letter in verse one. Bet, (2) Mem, (40) Mem,
(40) tzade, (90) = 172. This is the same numerical value as #6117, aqab –
Jacob, and is often rendered supplanter or deceiver, however, it literally
means “One who will catch the heel” and is seen again in Gen. 3:15.
There are 28 total letters. 28 is the numerical value of #2409, chattaya, a fem.
noun meaning an offering for sin appearing only in Ezra 6: 17 where the
rebuilt Temple is dedicated! Is there a connection here to the Victory of
Messiah who will destroy the head of them enemy and restore the Temple of
YHVH known as the Body of Man? The total number of animals sacrificed is
712 the same numbers used in the gematria of Jacob only arranged
differently. 712 is the gematria of #8664, tishbey, designating Elijah the
Tishbite, (1Kings 17:1) it means “captivity”. Cognate words on either side
#8663, teshu’ah, a shout of victory & #8665, teshuvah, to return, as in from
captivity. The gematria of Elijah, #452 אִלָּיהּו
ֵ is 52, the same as the word
Ben, meaning Son.
It was the bruising of the Son - Messiah that restored the Temple/Man and
raised a shout of Victory at the Brides’ release from Captivity!!!
Total = 913. The simple gematria (9+1+3=13) alludes to the Bride, while the
overall value (913) is the same as the phrase, Beit HaMalchut “House of the
Kingdom”. It is formed from a combination of 613 (The number of Torah
Commandments) which is the value of the Hebrew word gederot – Sheepfold
and 300 which is the value of the Hebrew word Kopher – to Cover, to provide
atonement.
II. The Bet prefixed to this word indicates in, on, by, with, etc. and represents the
‘House’, while Reshith #7225, is a noun meaning the beginning, the first, the
chief. It is from the root of #7218, rosh, meaning head, leader. Its’ original
meaning was “to shake”. Therefore the Hebrew letter “Bet” affixed to
re’shyith means, in the shaking. There is again precedent set for creation,
hinting that the act of providing redemption is birthed out of a deep struggle.
The Ruach moved, #7363, ra’chaph, to shake. YHVH said, # 559, ‘amar, to
speak, to utter, to promise. The Voice of YHVH shakes – reverberates when
released - this releasing invokes Creation!!
I found interesting the words cognate with #7363, ra’caph, namely, #7342,
rahab, broad, spacious (the name of Rahab the Harlot whom Joshua married)
#7353, Rachel, a ewe, female sheep (the name of Jacobs’ wife who stole the
idols of her father) and #7356, raham, womb. These words tied together infer
Prophetically, that the First Shaking – In the Beginning, is somehow
connected to enlarging/making fruitful, the womb of the Rahab – the Former
Harlot Bride of Joshua - Yahshua, and Rachel, the bride of Jacob/Israel whose
children are scattered because of her/their worship of pagan deities! The womb
that was first fruitful becomes waste and desolate (the penalty for adultery) it
then is restored by the ransom Messiah paid. This is foreshadowed in the
words of the first two verses, Creation, the womb for all that is living –
becomes waste & desolate, tohu v’bohu – and is restored.
I also noticed the connection to the Scarlet thread of Rahab (Joshua 2:18) and
the Scarlet seen throughout woven in the Priestly garments and Tabernacle
furnishings. The Hebrew word for scarlet, #8144, שניshaniy is the same as
#8145, sheniy, second, to do again, to replicate. It is also comprised of the Root
Stem, Shin-Nun, which means learned as in learned man. The Yod suffix
indicates my or mine. Thus, Shaniy could be inferring the Messiah, My
(YHVH’s) Learned Man who was hanged on the wall to save Rahab! She was
told to bind a line of scarlet. *Note the word for line, #8615, tiqvah, cord,
which is also the word for hope, from the root #6960, qavah, to wait or look
for eagerly and expectantly! This Scarlet Thread represents Messiah, who
Creation/the womb/Eve, The Mother of all living/ waits for in order that He
may loosen the curse of Adultery from off her!!! Again, the connection to the
struggle and violence of redemption revealed in Gen. 1:1.
Tradition teaches that a Scarlet thread was hung on the Temple door at the
Day of Atonement. If YHVH accepted the sacrifice it would turn white. At the
time of the death of Yahshua circa 30AD it never turned white again. Rosh
HaShanah 31b, Babylonian Talmud,
Controversy begins.
You could therefore say, B’reshith Bara Elohiym “In the first shaking” as well
as, “in the beginning” YHVH created…this implies others shakings to follow!
Is it possible Creation and its shaking affected the physical realm of the Earth
and yet the Spiritual realm, the Abode of YHVH the place of His Word,
remained intact? The declaration regarding HIS HOUSE & BRIDE
remained, the Lamb/Red Heifer already having been slain before the
foundation was lain, Rev. 13: 8. The physical realm must be redeemed!
Heb. 12:25 – 28, See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped
not who refused him that spake on earth, much more [shall not] we [escape], if
we turn away from him that [speaketh] from heaven: Whose voice then shook
the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the
earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the
removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that
those things which cannot be shaken may remain wherefore, we receiving a
kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve
God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
Not coincidentally, the word Reshith is used 51 times in the Tanak. 51 is the
gematria of #3607, kala, to restrain, to finish, to complete and is the same root
word used for Bride – kallah. In the Shaking/Beginning, YHVH completes His
plan for the Bride. Again, YHVH is revealing a pattern with His Bride:
Creation, rebellion/sin, and restoration. The Creation account hidden between
Gen. 1:1 & 1:2, is repeated in the restoration and creation of Adam, and will
be repeated again at the culmination of the Age. Adding clarity, the Hebrew
article ET or Aleph-Tav, is interspersed showing the actions of Messiah –THE
SPEAKING WORD - in this account.
Not coincidentally, Hebrews 12:27, Rev. 6:13, reminds of a future shaking yet
to come, when the Counterfeit Bride – Babylon, the one confused, wasted,
without form, desolate is judged, while the Remnant who comes out from her
is restored. Rev. 18: 4.
Gen. 1:2.
And the Earth was without form and void… ְוָהָאֶרץ ָהְיָתה ֹתהּו ָוֹבהּו
• Was, #1961, היהhayah, to become, to come to pass – BECAME! The
verb tense is in the Qal Perfect verb form and indicates a completed action!
For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that
formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not
in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I [am] the LORD; and [there is]
none else.
*Note the word established: #3559, כוןkuwn, to set up, fixed, directed, to be
stable.
Although this subject has stirred much controversy it is consistent with the
theme of TWO BRIDES – One who continues in rebellion and masks herself
in religious trappings, to mimic the genuine and One who comes out of the
former - Babylon, the Tohu v’bohu waste and desolate place of confusion,
vanity, futility, to become the Bride of Messiah!
Furthermore, if you break down the phrase Tohu v’bohu, with the vowel
pointsֹתהּו ָוֹבהּו you have an interesting puzzle. The Hey vav spells the
word Hu in Hebrew - He. At the end of the word it infers the action of this
pronoun. Bo means come, thus, bohu, means He comes. The Tav vav spells the
word Tav – Covenant Sign, tohu can be seen as, He is the Sign. The entire
phrase: tohu v’bohu says: Out of waste and desolation He is the Covenant
Sign and He comes!
