ADVERTISING

Advertising has become integral part of our society. One cannot go through a newspaper,
listen to radio or watch television without reading, hearing or seeing some advertisement or
commercial advertisement is aimed to influencing the people or making them aware of the
advertiser’s product. It is a forceful tool in moulding people’s attitudes and their behaviour
towards products, ideas and services. In respect of public utility services also social
advertisement make people aware of the drug menace, the risk about drunk driving the need
of spacing child births, energy conservation or about other important problems like the need
of promoting national integration.

An advertisement is an announcement online, or in a newspaper, on television, or on a poster

about something such as a product, event, or job.

Wholesale Advertising

Wholesalers are, generally, not advertising minded, either for themselves or for their
suppliers. They would benefit from adopting some of the image-making techniques used by
retailers – the need for developing an overall promotional strategy. They also need to make a
greater use of supplier promotion materials and programmes in a way advantageous to them.

Advantage of Advertisement:

The advantage of advertising is show as given. The major advantages of advertising are:

(1) Introduce a new product in the market,

(2) Expansion of the market,

The benefits derived from advertising are manifold. It is one of the most important
components of the marketing process.

This is beneficial to manufacturers, traders, consumers and society as a whole. Advertising

offers the following advantages.

(1) Introduces a New Product in the Market:

Advertising plays significant role in the introduction of a new product in the market. It
stimulates the people to purchase the product.
(2) Expansion of the Market:

It enables the manufacturer to expand his market. It helps in exploring new markets for the
product and retaining the existing markets. It plays a sheet anchor role in widening the
marketing for the manufacturer’s products even by conveying the customers living at the far
flung and remote areas.

(3) Increased Sales:

Advertisement facilitates mass production to goods and increases the volume of sales. In
other words, sales can be increased with additional expenditure on advertising with every
increase in sale, selling expenses will decrease.

(4)Fights Competition:

Advertising is greatly helpful in meeting the forces of competition prevalent in the market.
Continuous advertising is very essential in order to save the product from the clutches of the
competitors.

(5) Enhances Good-Will:

Advertising is instrumental in increasing goodwill of the concern. It introduces the

manufacturer and his product to the people. Repeated advertising and better quality of
products brings more reputation for the manufacturer and enhances goodwill for the concern.

products and their diverse uses and also educates them about the new uses of existing

It aims at establishing a direct link between the manufacturer and the consumer, thereby
eliminating the marketing intermediaries. This increases the profits of the manufacturer and
the consumer gets the products at lower prices.

Different goods are advertised under different brand names. A branded product assures a
standard quality to the consumers. The manufacturer provides quality goods to the consumers
and tries to win their confidence in his product.

Advertising greatly facilitates the work of a salesman. The customers are already familiar
with the product which the salesman sells. The selling efforts of a salesman are greatly

The cost of bringing out a newspaper is largely met by the advertisements published therein.

(12) Higher Standard of Living:

The experience of the advanced nations shows that advertising is greatly responsible for
raising the living standards of the people. In the words of Winston Churchill “advertising
nourishes the consuming power of men and creates wants for better standard of living.” By
bringing to the knowledge of the consumers different variety and better quality products, it
has helped a lot increasing the standard of living in a developing economy like India.

DEVELOPING THE RESEARCH PLAN

The second step of marketing research process calls for developing the most efficient plan for
gathering the needed information. While designing a research plan we have to take decisions
regarding data sources, search approached, search instruments, sampling etc. There are
two plan contact methods which are as follows:
1. DATA SOURCES

There are two types of data source as.

primary data.
Secondary data .Primary Data

Personal interviews are conducted which enable collection of oral verbal response .This is
fact to face contracted with structured or sometimes even unstructured patterns. This helps
in obtaining indent information Secondary Data

Secondary data can be obtained from different Milk fed magazines and annual reports,
financial documents referred.

2. RESEARCH APPROACH

Survey Method
Survey are best suited for descriptive research companies which undertake
surveys to learn about peoples‟ kin
owl edge, beliefs, preferences, satisfaction etc. To measure these magnitude in the general
population. While observation and tours are best suited for exploratory research which is not
the case of our study.

3.RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

Questionnaire A questionnaire is prepared and used to collect the information. The majority
of questions are close ended. Questionnaire is distributed to people to know about their
preferences, tastes, demands etc. This is one of the easiest methods of collecting information.

4. SAMPLING PLAN
After deciding on the research approach and instrument, we must design sampling plan. This
plan calls for three decisions.
Sampling Unit:-
Here we define what is to be surveyed i.e. the target population that will be sampled. In our
case the general public in cities and towns come under the sampling unit’s.

Sample Size:-
Large samples give more reliable results. In our study100 customers were surveyed in
Jalandhar

Sampling Procedure:-
Area sampling is using because it is not practically possible to visit all places of India
therefore chosen for survey.

5. CONTACT METHOD:

In this decision is taken that how the object should be contacted i.e. whether by mail
questionnaire, telephone, interviews. In our research personal interview is the most
convenient and reliable method.

6. COLLECTION OF THE INFORMATION:-

The data collection phase of the marketing research is the most expensive and most err or
prone process. There can be error as some respondent can give biased or dishonest answer for
the collection of the information. The researchers personally go to customers to collect the
reliable data. Here all knowledge of the researcher about that field comes to test the ingenuity
of the research. Here I got the experience of working professionally and independently on the
road which gives some taste of practical marketing. I also got a lot of exposure about the
market. The present study undertaken is descriptive in nature and in this study questioning
people with regular expertise in that are being used.
