Steelie athletes Sunshine Tour
compete in circuit introduces
athletics at Phalaborwa Limpopo leg of
championship
The Sunshine Tour this week announced the launch of the new
R1.5-million Limpopo Championship tee off at the Euphoria Golf and
Lifestyle Estate from 7-10 March 2019. This latest Sunshine Tour
tournament is powered by the Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and will
feature a field of 156 professionals competing in a 72-hole stroke play
format. The addition of Limpopo Championship is much welcome by
all in the golf fraternity.
“We are delighted to announce the new Limpopo Championship,
which is one of several new tournaments we will be announcing and
which gives us a really strong local base for our professionals to start
their year off at home,” said Selwyn Nathan, Commissioner of the
Sunshine Tour.
The Limpopo Championship is poised to attract a strong field
vying to qualify for the season ending Tour Championship. The or-
ganisers will make a concerted effort to attract more players from the
SADC region and even further into the continent to make this a truly
African Spectacle.
“Limpopo is a leading tourism destination but also well known for
a golf and game experience in Southern Africa. The addition of the
Limpopo Championship to our already diverse destination portfolio is
a natural fit. The tournament compliments our brand offering and pro-
motion of diverse tourism experiences in collaboration with the private
sector in order to drive for sector transformation,” said Nomasonto
Ndlovu, Chief Executive Officer of LTA.
The four-day golf extravaganza offers golfers and non-golfers an
opportunity to sample the numerous tourist offerings of the region,
venue and surrounding communities. Participants and spectators can
enjoy tailor-made tournament packages that include entertainment,
