Question
Can a 1791DS module be preconfigured for use on a safety network of a specific SmartGuard 600, so that the module can be used as a spare without the need for
RSNetWorx at the time of replacement?

Answer
Yes.

To allow for a replacement of a 1791DS module without having to reset ownership of the module, i.e. a plug and play replacement, the Safety Serial Number and the
Configuration Signature can be downloaded to a spare 1791DS module.  This spare module can then be swapped with the module presently on the SmartGuard
safety netwok.  It will not be necessary to perform any operation within RSNetWorx for DeviceNet.

To configure the spare module:

1. Configure the 1791DS module that will be used with the SmartGuard600 and upload from device using RSNetWorx.  Note the Safety Network Number and the
Configuration Signature.
2. Swap with an identical 1791DS module and download to device using RSNetWorx.
3. Upload from device using RSNetWorx and verify that the Safety Network Number and the Configuration Signature are the same for both modules.
4. Replace the original module.  The spare module is now preconfigured for use with that SmartGuard600 controller.

NOTE: If the 1791DS module is to be used with a different SmartGuard600, it will be necessary to reset the safety device using RSNetWorx for DeviceNet by
following the standard procedure.
