Time Item

10 minutes Performance Update

5 minutes Successes

5 minutes Challenges/concerns

10 minutes Goals

Minutes:

1. Performance Update:
a. Things are going as expected. Would say that I am meeting standards with my work
and doing well with managing assigned tasks and projects. I don’t receive a lot of
feedback but assume that with the more I get assigned and that I am responsible for,
that my performance is fine.
2. Successes:
a. The most notable success so far was getting positive feedback on writing my first set of
meeting minutes at an LER staff meeting. This was a success for me because I didn’t
have any idea what was being discussed, but still managed to capture a lot of the
material for the staff’s reference.
3. Challenges/concerns:
a. So far, the biggest challenge is being assigned tasks that I am not actually shown how to
complete. I have to follow what is called an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). These
can be upwards of 8 pages long and include a massive number of steps. It takes me
much longer to do complete a job this way.
b. There is a significant lack of efficiency with this job which drives me completely nuts.
c. I like being able to check tasks off, which I often cannot have checked by the end of a
workday and leaves me feeling unaccomplished after eight hours of work.
4. Goals:
a. Continue to work through SOPs as efficiently as I possibly can with the goal of being
able to get through a task without needing it.
b. Work through currently assigned tasks efficiently and prioritize accordingly so that you
can be assigned more new tasks.
c. When frustrated or overwhelmed, remind yourself that this position and working for
this organization is not permanent, but instead is an opportunity to learn all sorts of new
skills, processes, systems, and is a way to acquire knowledge.
5. Portfolio Requirements:
a. The main thing to focus on for your portfolio is the reflection portion.
i. Document what you do and do not like about your current position and why.
ii. Create a pros and cons list of all of the jobs you have worked.
iii. Look into what is required to work in industries of interest in the future.
iv. Think about and collect thoughts on what aspects you want from a career, what
you can live with, and what you cannot.
