For mounting and connection data, see figures 1 & 2, for parts arrange- ‘ment and layout see figures 3 and 4. ‘The high pressure section of the injection pump, consisting of the pump element, complete (4), pressure valve (3) and pressure fiange (6), is solidly bolted to injection pump housing (5) by 4 retention screws DIN 912 M16x60-10.9 The pressure valve is a constant pressure valve design which maintains the pressure inthe injection discharge line nearly constant under any load and speed conditions. The pump element has a triple leak fuel seal preventing fuel leaks in the bottom part of the injection pump or the camshaft space. Unra-fitered pressure oil is fed to the pump element at the oil intake socket (figure 2). ‘The pressure oil forms a film around the bottom of the pump piston preventing leakage of residual oil in the injection pump. The residual leak volume and some pressure oil are discharged outside at atmospheric pressure via the mixed oil return line (figure 2). The pump piston has 2 diametrically opposed sloping control edges that co-operate with control bores in the pump cylinder. ‘The symmetrical arrangement of the control edges and the control bores avoids lateral contact of the pump piston with the pump cylinder. This reduces pump element wear. Butter bolts (14) in the injection pump housing avoid cavitation of the pump element and the injection pump housing. The buffer bolts screws and the control bores assist, the gradual throttling of the fuel flow. The fuel rate is controlled by turning the pump piston relative to the pump cylinder. This is achieved by control rack (7) and control sleeve (8). 1.4 Transport and Storage Caution! Use a suspension arrangement as illustrated in drawing G100150035 for mounting land removing the injection pump on the engine. Make certain that the control rack is not damaged when the injection pump is transported. I the injection pump is stored for ‘a prolonged period of time, follow the preservation instructions (see chapter 1.10) Store the pump in a clean and dry room. 1.5. Pump Mounting and Removal Remove the preservation chemical from the pump. Then mount / remove the pump in accordance with engine manual. Align the pump accurately on the engine block. A check mark is punched in pump housing (5). This mark means that the pump is positively at stop position. The filter in the fuel intake line is essential to the smooth running of the injection pump. This fiter holds back particles of ( 0.025 mm in-heavy cil service and of 0.010 mm in diesel fuel service. 4.6 Using the Injection Pump. 1.6.1, Component Check By and large, the injection pump requires no maintenance. The following components should be inspected at the indicated intervals: ‘pump element ease of rotation, control edge wear 6000 h pressure valve: leaks of the high pressure surface 6000h butter bot cavitation of the buffer surface 3000 h buffer bolt change: if buffer surface is worn 6000 h tappet body: pattern, pressure spots 6000 h general repairs to the injection pump: 24000 h A 2. Stopping in Heavy Oil Service ‘The engine / injection system should not be stopped suddenly if running on heavy oil 1.6.2.1. Normal Stop ‘Stop the heavy oil system of the engine and change to diesel service in time before ‘stopping the engine / injection system, Make certain that the injection system is purged with diesel fuel to avoid sticking of parts and clogging of the intake and discharge openings with solidified heavy oil. The urge is complete when fuel that contains no heavy oil emerges from the pump element's mixed oil return (figure 2). 1.6.2.2. Brief Stop Uf the engine or the injection system are stopped for a short time, let the heavy oll system run in stand-by mode. The passage of the heavy oil Keeps the injection pump warm and prevents solidification of the heavy oil in the injection system,
