1.1 ABSTRACT
The earth is a system in constant change and restructuring, where most initial elements are reused.
One of the environments in which those processes are visible is in subduction zones, especially in
island arcs, where it becomes important magma composition, speed and the changes generated,
because these are places near masses of continental crust, as in the case of Japan, the Aleutian
Islands in Alaska and the Kuril Islands.
Normally island arcs are constantly study, whether for disaster prevention or structuring models for
magma genesis, five of the issues discussed are: The role of hydrated minerals in the generation and
change of magma conditions, temperature variations and the implications of these because the
oceanic plate , which is colder, transforming conditions of mineral phase, increasing the
temperature of the solidus in minerals; age differences between the plates and their relevance in the
subduction of the same, different conditions in the mantle wedge and the change of chemical
composition and volume along the arc.
KEY WORDS: Subduction zones, island arcs, magma, hydrated minerals, chemical composition.
