Do you remember the times when building
a lowrider would add character to your soul
because of the blood, sweat, and tears journey
you had to go through? At the end, the finished
product cost a lot of time and money and though
it was an experience and it made you proud, it
became an investment because in the long run if
you ever decided to build another car you knew
what that journey would be like, only now you
would go about it in a different way.
Well that was then. Those were the good old
days when you could go through a few obstacle
courses like bodywork, chrome, paint, hydraulics,
and engine work. Those were just the bumps
in the road, the fork at the turn, and though we
pulled a few U-turns traveling from shop to
shop with our builds we knew that building a
custom or classic lowrider wasn’t going to be easy
because the map toward the final finish is a long
one full of surprises. Inspirations, motivations,
and friends always help along the way to that
ultimate completion, but in the end the memories
of where you came from and when you started
your chosen car’s quest is what makes us the men
we are today. That said, there is no other greater
accomplishment. But like stated before that was
then my good lowrider friends.
Today is a totally different path for everyone
when it comes to starting out on a car build. All
the past experiences, time, endless money, and
a GPS system won’t guarantee the completion
of a build. The old adages “you get what you pay
for” or “you can pay me now, or you can pay me
later” are long gone. Things today are bad enough
that when you begin a car build project you have
to start off with a survivor car because you may
wind up paying twice the amount for the reason
that not everything can be found or bought from
a cell phone and most junkyards don’t have those
rides we still favor. The scary things to consider
today are the plans and schedules you have to
lay out on your build and who will become the
selected choice of body and paint shop. This is
another form of Russian roulette, so to speak.
Most of today’s car shops ask for a whole lot
more money than before, they won’t give you a
delivery time, and they act as though they don’t
actually want to do the work because they’re
doing you a favor to begin with. We understand
materials cost triple now but when we drop down
the deposit we hope it goes toward our ride’s
metalwork only to find out five months later
that money was spent on another customer’s car
that was there three years before us. It’s a damn
pyramid game as we now know and you have to
wait for another customer to come into this certain
shop to leave a deposit so that their money can
be used to start on yours. It blows me away that it
takes a few years for a paintjob and then they wrap
it up quick in two weeks just to get the headaches
out of the way or to make room for the next victim.
If you survive this madness and come away
with a finished product, did you get what you
wanted, or did you just get what you needed?
Pray nothing comes up because there’s usually no
warranty and then you’re told: “Hey, if you’re not
happy go somewhere else!” Sometimes it’s best to
just drink more alcohol, play sad music, or share
your misery with other club members who also
drink and happen to love the songs you play. Is it
worth even building a lowrider today? It’s worse
than a divorce!
We like the pain I guess because this has been
the situation for the past five or so years. I go to
so many car shows and visit with the owners of
various builds and they look old and exhausted
and don’t feel like explaining the hell they went
through to get where they are now. Sure, we are
not the only automotive industry that lives in
these dire straight situations but some things
have to change. We work hard for our money
that’s spent on the hobby of building these special
lowriders. There are a lot of good painters out
there but there are those who put a bad name
on the automotive finishers. Some painters are
way too spoiled and have monster egos and have
forgotten where they came from. They think they
have all the talent in the world when after all they
are only copying the styles of the painters before
them, and on and on.

Today you need a lawyer, a counselor, and
maybe a priest to help you along with dealings
in most shops. Chrome shops lose your parts, or
in about six months the nickel starts to show up.
Upholstery shops take their time but the price on
plain-designed seats and door panels are out of
this world and you have to find a shop that won’t
be too careless and damage or scratch your paint.
I am not knocking all painters here because
there are great ones out there too, and without
painters there would be no lowriders, but we just
need to search harder and do our homework to
find the right shops; fingers crossed. In the end
this is what separates the lowrider individual
from all others. We were born for this! We
continue on pretending that one of these days,
or weeks they will get started on our rides, but
in all reality we know it’s not going to happen.
We just laugh it off like we’re crazy, cut our losses
from these places of ill repute, and load our rides
back up on the trailers to bring them back home
or onward to another shop. Let's also not forget
that there are a lot of guys who just give up and
quit the game all together because they never saw
hope or felt faith the shops would even start on
their projects. We know that there is no money
in painting lowriders, as some painters say, so
then they should either charge more for their
craftsmanship and talent or don’t take on the
jobs in the first place. Lowriders pay the price one
way or the other, and that is usually the hard way,
so it can’t be said that they don’t want to pay what
a real paintjob is worth. I’m sorry if I got off and
offended anyone but I’ve been there, done that,
and continue to do so and so have thousands of
others I know of who would cosign what I just
wrote.

“Born into this.”
It’s a statement that’s thrown
around oten, but only few can say
with credibility. But when your
parents met on the boulevard back
in 1976—where your dad used to lay
low in a Glasshouse and your mom
followed suit in a juiced '65 SS—it’s
not only a match made in heaven,
but proof that you truly were “born
into this.” hat’s exactly the case for
Mike Lopez, aka “Cadillac Mike.”
As a child he used to lip through
the pages of Lowrider magazine
for inspiration. Page ater page, he’d
take mental notes but soon realized
he had a particular fascination with
the cars in Lifestyle Car Club. By the
time he was 16, he processed all that
information and built a bike that
he debuted as “Casino Dreaming.”
he bike was an instant hit and with
no form of competition to deter his
winning streak, he not only became
a four-time, consecutive “Lowrider
Bike of the Year” champion, but the

reason the rules were changed to
limit the number of times any one
particular bike could win the title;
quite the achievement.
Mike went onto build a few
more bikes, but soon he yearned
for more. In his early twenties he
picked up a '94 Cadillac Fleetwood.
His original intention was to build
a full-on lowrider but searching
for N.O.S. parts made him realize
just how scarce parts were. “his

it upon himself to buy anything
and everything Cadillac related.
“It became an addiction,” he says.

the end it was a fun-filled event
that left all who attended in
complete exhaustion.

Twin Falls, Idaho, doesn’t necessarily

conjure up images of candy-painted
lowriders, oil-stained driveways, and
burned-out solenoid smoke bellowing
through the air. In fact, those were the
furthest things from our minds while
the guys from Goodtimes Car Club
Idaho proudly gave us a tour of their
city. he more we drove around, the
more we could see how a lowriding
revival could someday come to this
bustling city. But through our own eyes
it seems as if the lowrider revival has
already begun, and the evidence started
at the Summer Showdown.

featured nearly 200 cars. In its third year
of production, Victor Hernandez and
Richard Linares are the brains behind
what has become known as a must-
attend car show. And why not? he
show features something for everyone.
From clothing vendors to eateries, live
music to exhibits, the show was action
packed with some serious talent and ONTHESCENE
E S T A B L I S H E D 1 9 7 7
some damn serious lowriders. Local
boys such as Legacy, New Impressions,
Unique Lifestyle, and the newly
established Viejitos Idaho chapter came
to show out. Goodtimes Car Club was,
as usual, the club to beat. With fellow
members coming all the way from
Utah, you just knew they were only
going to bring the heavy hitters.
While the cars and bikes seemed
to be the stars of the show, the real
headlining act was the check given
to C.A.S.A., an organization that is
committed to representing the best
interests of abused and neglected
children. “Each year the show continues
to get bigger and bigger,” Victor says.
“And each year we are fortunate enough
to be able to donate more and more,”
he continues. So, ater visiting Idaho,
we are pleased to announce that the
lowrider lifestyle is thriving in the small
community of Twin Falls and we can’t
wait to see what new custom creations
they drop next year.

The '64 Chevrolet Impala is
arguably the most coveted lowrider
of all time. Regardless of age, it’s
the lowrider many of us dream
of owning. For Julio Morales, it’s
almost as if he was destined to own
one. Throughout his childhood
he recalls seeing all the hard work
his father put into his own '64
Impala. During those informative
years, the time he spent handing
his father tools and observing the
passion became a spark that turned
into a smoldering fire.
Sometime later, his older
brother, Robert, purchased a '64 of
his own. “It’s as if it was a family
tradition,” Julio says. In time,
Robert purchased yet another
lowrider; this time around he
scored on a convertible '64 Impala
Super Sport. Excited that another
family member was introduced,
he was just happy to be around it,

No journey is without its
setbacks, and Julio soon found out
what it takes to build an award-
winning masterpiece. For starters,
it took three attempts to get the
paintjob right. The final version
is made up of several gallons
of House of Kolor candies. The
custom blend of Sea Breeze Green
was mixed with varied flake sizes
and laid down by Pelon’s Auto Art,
who also put down the artwork
to the sides, top, and trunk. The
interior was replaced with a Mint
Green vinyl and redone in its
original stitching. No bolt was left
untouched, they were all either

respecting lowrider is complete
until it lays as close to the floor as
possible. In order to achieve that,
Julio decided to install a Universal
Air airbag suspension system with
four switches to activate the front,
back, side to side.
Becoming a legitimate lowrider
can never be inherited, no matter
how many cars your family has. It
is earned by conceptualizing your
own car, start to finish, with every
attention to detail taken. For Julio,
this car was that rite of passage …
all his own. Every project takes

During the ’80s, Dino Acosta found
himself a regular passenger in the
backseat of his brother’s cars. It was
there he found an exclusive place to
sit, a place to watch the magic unfold.
It was also his informal introduction
to the world of lowriding. Since
then, Dino has watched lowriders
go through phases and trends. Some
have lasted, others have faded to the
abyss, but for Dino, his childhood
memories are all too attached and
familiar with the lowrider styling of
the ’70s and ’80s.
So when it came time for Dino to
build a lowrider of his own he already
knew the direction he’d take, but irst
he’d have to get a project car to start
with. Like many of us, he started with
a “sometimes running and slightly
beat up” bargain that he picked up
for $2,200. he '72 Monte Carlo had
previously served as a daily driver but
it was about to be treated to a revamp
and full-body rejuvenation.

pays homage to the styling cues of the
’70s in a fashion that’s not only period
correct but a throwback that brings
back plenty of memories.
Connecting this time machine to
the streets is a set of 14x7 True Classics
wrapped in Premium Sportway
whitewall 5.20s. To put power back
to the wheels, the small-block 350
was brought back to life with multiple
Edelbrock upgrades, plenty of chrome
and billet accents. Much like his trunk
setup, his engine bay is minimal
but the results are nothing short of
mesmerizing and a deinite throwback
down memory lane.
Now that Dino has gone from
spectator to player, he has no plans to
stop driving this car every chance he
gets. His Monte Carlo has become a
regular sight at local cruise spots and
car shows and he’s even been known
to hop it just to show that it’s got
more than just good looks. In all, it’s
a throwback in time and a tribute not
only to lowriding but to the forefathers
who helped create the foundation that
we ride on today.

A proper sancha knows how to keep
it player. hey understand the terms of
engagement and live by a set of diferent
rules. But every once in a while they start
acting up and before you know it they
want more. C’mon now fellas, you know
what I’m talking about.
Now imagine having a sancha who
doesn’t want to sit on the sidelines and
shine when called upon? But let’s make
it worse. Imagine having a sancha who
doesn’t want you to herself. Imagine one
who wants to live in your home, and in
the presence of your wife?
OK so by now most of you are
saying, “No mames!” Now that we’ve
piqued your interest and gotten your
attention, there is one man who has
been successful in doing just that. His
name is Manuel Fuentes—and yes his
sancha lives in his pad. But make no
mistake; Manuel makes no attempt
at hiding the love afair that began in
the ’80s. It started of as a rusty afair
but since then Manuel has spent a
small fortune on cosmetic surgery
and bolt-ons and she’s since evolved
into a sultry women with curves to die

a '52 Stepside truck. Yeah … sorry to
burst your bubble of high hopes.

'52 began in the early ’80s when his
compadre Billy found the truck in La

Puente, California. She was in real rough
condition but he saw potential, so he
struck a deal and gave the owner his
own truck in return for the '52 and $800.
When he got the '52 back home he used
the additional money to purchase a '47
that was to be used as a parts truck from
which he would use the bumper, grille
guards, window frames, bed, and other
miscellaneous parts.
With the help of Billy Soto, the truck
was reassembled, cleaned up, and that’s
when it was painted a midnight blue.
Manuel enjoyed it for a few years until
one eventful day he walked out from
work to ind that it had been rear-ended.
he whole back of the truck had to be
replaced, and while doing so he decided
to repaint it blue and white. Happy to be
back on the street, the truck was used
as a daily driver for over a decade until
he decided to do a complete frame-of

At birth we’re all given a last name,
but it’s what we accomplish in life
that gives it meaning. So, when four
brothers out of Hawaiian Gardens
started restoring and customizing
some of the most sought ater and rare
bombs, they in turn created a leet of
stunning works, but also a last name
that will go down in history as being
one of the greatest in the game.
Known best for their signature
slammed look and pristine builds,
the Tovar family has become a staple
in the lowrider community. Mention
the word “Tovar” and almost instantly
you’re envisioning a show-quality
build that’s an honor to set eyes on. But
as equally challenging as building up
a name is retaining its status, and to
be honest, in this game, you’re only as
good as your latest accomplishment.
hat said, this bomb here is not
owned by any of the four brothers.
Rather, it’s owned by Daniel Tovar,
son of Paul Tovar the creator of the
infamous '39 Sedan Delivery (http://
www.lowrider.com/rides/cars/1309-
1939-chevrolet-sedan-delivery/). But the
path to greatness was a tall order to ill,
especially when you consider the past
accomplishments of the Tovar family.
As a teen, Daniel began building

model cars that replicated some of
the famous rides that his family built.
As each year passed, he’d daydream
about building his very own lowrider,
but with limited funds his only option
at the time was to indulge in lowrider
models and bikes. Yet even with all the
features he’d already landed (including

second nature to him, but his desire to
build a fullsize car became a priority.
Ater reaching his goal of having
a feature-worthy bicycle, he decided

It was a big step, and he knew all too

well that he’d have to come correct
to uphold the Tovar legacy—one
that’s best known for excellence and
creativity. To begin, Daniel picked
up a '39 coupe, but it was short lived
thanks to a chance meeting with some
old friends. “My friends Lomo and
Carlos showed me a fuzzy photo in a
lip phone of a car with a rumble seat
and Continental kit.” In an instance,
Daniel knew right away that it was
a rare car. hat car ended up being a
'37 Chevrolet Sport Coupe, of which
only 2,935 of them were produced.
“I knew I had to do whatever it took
seal the deal,” Daniel says, so he sold

his '39, drained his savings account,
and scooped up the Sport Coupe in
New Jersey.
When the car inally showed up it
felt like Christmas for Daniel. “I’ll admit
that the car looked ugly but I could see
the end result in my head and knew it
was everything I wanted and more.”
he car wasn’t in the driveway for 10
minutes when his uncle Michael led
him to a '39 Master DeLuxe front clip
that he could use to begin the build.
From there, a good amount of his time
was spent online—and at swap meets—
tracking down rare and hard-to-ind
accessories. In the end, he gathered
a laundry list of products, including
dual GM S-1 safety lights, Appleton
foglights, overhead speaker, streamliner
fender skirts, the list goes on and on.
While the parts trickled in, he
shipped out the front suspension,
grille, bumpers, and accessories to
Metal Finishing Marketers where they
reinished and rechromed all the parts.
His Uncle Eddie took on the task of
giving it that Tovar signature look of
being slammed. Eddie then installed
the Hoppo’s setup before having Lou’s
Muler reroute the exhaust system
so it could clear the loor. Blindstitch
Upholstery installed the Hampton
Coach interior while Daniel created
a stealth sound system. To do that,

the head unit was installed in the
glovebox, while the heater and original
radio tube housing were converted
into a speaker enclosure.
In all, the build took 21⁄2 years and he
learned a lot. It remains a family build
infused with decades of experience and
creativity but in the end Daniel would
be the irst person to admit that he’s
blessed to have such a supportive wife
and family. In closing he’d like to thank
his wife, his grandpa Amador, his father
Paul, and his uncles Eddie, Michael, and
Donald for being his biggest supporters
as well as his inspiration for this
incredible build that is now a part of their
collection and incredible namesake.

he fascination with the phoenix in
Greek mythology should come as no
surprise. Its ability to regenerate from
the ashes of its former self symbolizes
renewal, and it serves as a comparative
reference that runs in parallel to our next
feature car, nicknamed “he Risen,” and
we’ll explain why shortly.
Jesse Cuevas irst purchased his Impala
16 years ago from a man out of Columbia,
South Carolina. “he owner of the car
was practically in tears when I paid for it,”
Jesse tells LR. “It belonged to his brother
who had died.”
As soon as he got it back home,
Jesse added air suspension but later
regretted it and moved onto a hydraulic
suspension. Jesse brought the Impala to
a stereo shop locally to get some music
installed, and on the way back home he
noticed a problem. He called the shop
and they told him to bring it back in the
morning. he very next morning Jesse
went to his garage and to his disbelief

Problems kept coming up, “I have lost
my entire brakes while driving this car at
least three times,” Jesse adds, “but nothing
will stop me from making this into my

in contact with Joe Kandy Prado from
Texas who had been referred to him by

his good friend Danny Rivera. Joe lew
in from Texas and Jesse put him up in
his house. he intent was to add one or
two lines to the car, but when Joe started
doing his thing, Jesse told him to paint
the whole car. Sammy “Saco” Acosta was
brought in to lay the pinstripe and leaing
down before the clearcoat.
Now that the paint was a new Candy
Apple Red, the solid white interior just
wasn’t matching together. Jesse contacted
Gina at Ciadella Interiors for some

additions. hrough samples back and
forth, Jesse found the pattern and style he
wanted. Ater the material was shipped,
Jesse found a man named “Tattoo”
from Maryland to install it, as well as
the convertible top color change. he
hydraulic setup was cleaned up adding
hard lines and painting the batteries to
match the new exterior. he last stop
was adding more power to the motor. A
Chevy 350 from a '75 Camaro was added
to replace the 305 that was stock and the

transmission was upgraded to a 700-R4.
hroughout the 16 years that Jesse
has owned his Chevy Impala, many
things have tried to keep him and the car
down. Like a phoenix, he will keep rising
and the Impala will keep getting better.

Nothing afects our lives like
necessity. It’s what forces us to make
choices, it’s what develops our ability
to be creative. And while necessity is
said to be the mother of invention, it
not only changes the conditions of
our life, but the way we live it—and
this ultimately is the storyline for one
Georjah Jaymes.
“At the time, I didn’t haven’t a
car to drive to work,” Georjah says.
Fortunately for her, Tyler Vanderwall
(now her iancé) had a Lincoln Town
Car parked at his shop. he Lincoln
was lowered on a set of Dayton wire
wheels and not only did it become her
mode of transportation, but a vehicle
that would change her perception
on lowriding. Driving a “lowrider”
was a new experience for her, and like
most, she fell in love with the attention,
admiration, and feeling one gets when
driving one. “I instantly fell in love with
the culture and artform,” she says.

Georjah did to her Cutlass, this story

had one major speed bump she had
to get over. While the car was in fairly
good shape, she lowered the Cutlass
and hammered on a set of obligatory
13x7 wire wheels. It became her daily
driver to and from work up until it was
struck by a monstrous F-350 while
returning from the mall. Devastated,
but not deterred, she set out to bring
her Cutlass back to life and transform
it into the showstopping car it is today.
“I wanted nothing but the best,”
Georjah says, referring to why she
went with a House of Kolor Candy
Brandywine for her new paintjob.
And nothing accents a great paintjob

engravings help bring the car to
life. And while her build has many
features, it’s what is in the trunk that
captures everyone’s attention. Inside,
the crew at Hoppo’s Hydraulics built a
custom, one-of-a-kind setup featuring
two pumps, whammy tank, hard lines,
and a custom nameplate/stand. hese
days, she can be seen cruising around
the streets of Canada. hat is until
some three-wheel motion driving got
her car impounded. But that’s a story
for another time.

Look anywhere in the United
States and one can ind the common
frog, but in Puerto Rico there’s a
special frog that’s notorious for its
extremely loud mating. Designed to
be an audible warning to competing
male frogs, and a mating call to
all female frogs, the invasive frog
is called Coqui. So when Jason
Diaz was asked to come up with a
name for his new build, it was only
appropriate to use the Coqui as
inspiration—especially since the
frog is known for its high hop range
and unique green color.
Born and raised in Chicago, Jason
took a rather unusual foray into
the lowrider culture. “I was heavy
into stereo,” Jason tells LR. “In fact
my very irst car was a decked-out
'86 Subaru.” As time passed, he
upgraded to a minivan for more
audio room and it was during this
build that he threw on his irst set of

wire wheels. As chance would have
it, he had some friends driving out
to California for the Majestics picnic
so he hitched a ride and came back
with a new perspective—and a new
project.
Once he arrived at the picnic
he spent the next ive hours in
complete amazement. He perused
all the diferent styles, witnessed
his irst hop competition, and his
entire outlook on custom vehicles

changed. His interest led to many
questions and one of the lowrider
owners even mentioned that he had
a half-done project for sale. With
interest, Jason asked if he could
see it and the owner had it brought
down. It was a complete '84 Chevy
Caprice Classic with worn-out paint,
and a cut frame that was ready for a
hydraulic setup.
Jason shelled out the $500 deposit,
hired a transport company, and once
home wired the owner the rest of
the asking price. Jason brought the
Caprice to a shop to add a hydraulic
suspension that was good enough to
compete with the hoppers he saw in
California. he next month there was
a show in Indy and Jason got in the car
and drove the car to Indy, but halfway
there the transmission went out. he
Caprice was towed the rest of the way,
unloaded from the trailer and hopped
at the show taking hird Place.
Once back to Chicago, Jason put
the Chevy away for the next two
years, refocusing on other things
until a friend contacted him. His
friend was selling an LT1 out of a
'96 Impala SS so once again Jason
scooped up the motor and the project
was back on. Jason sent the Caprice to
Duran’s Bodyshop where they added
the moonroof and grated Cadillac
quarter-panel windows on each side.
From there, the shop put the car aside

to work on other jobs for the next two
years until Jason took the car back
and put it in his garage.
Now as a member of Majestics
in Chicago, Jason enlisted the help
of his friends and members Rai,
Raul, Alberto, Alex, Jimmy, Silver,
David, Sal, and Beto to paint the
belly and engine bay. It was all
hands on deck as the group added
a freshly purchased frame from
Pitbull Hydraulics that took months
to put into place. His custom painter
Raul from Musher Body Shop in
Cicero added a custom Kiwi paint
on the Caprice exterior, engine, and
transmission.
El Coqui was ready to be debuted
in 2017 and came out swinging,
overcoming every obstacle. Jason
wishes to thank all his friends and
family for their help, dedication, and
motivation, including Bruce, Jimmy,
Raul, Alex, Silver, Alberto, Arturo,
Sal, Beto, David, and Johnny. Like the
frog in Puerto Rico, El Coqui is ready
to hop at any time in Chicago.

Although the Dodge Magnum
was irst introduced in the United
States in 1978, it only lasted one year
in production as a coupe before being
pulled. In 2004, the Dodge Magnum
nameplate was revived, except this time
around it was brought back as a rear-
wheel-drive station wagon that struck a
nerve with car customizers globally.
For decades, the station wagon has
gained notoriety as being a family
car, but its imposing size and large
canvas also made it a target for those
looking to customize it. But for one
“West Coast Southern Boy,” who was
raised in Los Angeles but moved to
Alabama, station wagons have been

All paint projects should hopefully begin
from the bare metal on up, my friends.
What good is it if you spend hundreds of
manhours on a custom paintjob and the
foundation wasn’t prepared or sealed right?
In due time all your labor and materials
will be coming right back up on you, and
you don’t want to start all over again. This

sandblast a frame or body of a project, you

In 1842, writer and poet Edgar Allan
Poe wrote and published a short story
called "he Masque of the Red Death.”
It was a literary work that relected his
attempt to avoid a plague. Although the
actual Red Death plague was ictional,
Poe did pull inspiration from an ac-
tual illness to create the story. Later in
Mexico, an unexpected and dangerous
plague occurred to which the people
referred to as “he Red Death.” Chris
Burke of Pinellas Park, Florida, had
read about the plague and it fascinated
him. he story was intriguing enough
to title his masterpiece “La Muerte
Roja,” which translates to red death.
As a teenager, Chris began his pas-
sion simply because he couldn’t aford
a car. “I knew I didn’t have the money
for a lowrider car,” Chris tells LR, “so
I did the next best thing.” hat next
best thing was to purchase a bicycle.
Of course with Chris’ creativeness that
bicycle didn’t stay stock for long. He
became so versed in metalwork and
custom fabrication in his teens that
he knew what direction he wanted to
go as an adult. His creations got more
intense and intricate and he started
getting a following and reputation
based on his builds.

Once a year in Vegas there is a
Fabricators Face Of at an OBC custom
bicycle event. It’s the best of the best
showing of their talents on bicycles
throughout the country. here is
one simple rule to be accepted as a
competitor into this contest. he bicycle
accepted had to be built from scratch,
meaning it could not be an older or
newer frame that is modiied. Ater
Chris was accepted out of eight total
competitors, he knew it was time to get
to work on his project.
he irst step was to draw out his
planned coniguration for the bike.
he next step was purchasing the tube
and metal. A 11⁄2-inch round tube was
modiied with 7⁄8-inch back legs. Chris
added 18-gauge steel plating on both
sides to create the tank. he front bars
were constructed from scratch out of
the round tube, and the front fork was
designed from a 1-inch round tube
that Chris manually bent into his own
design. he brackets were handmade,
including the shock mounts.
Chris was inspired by a motorcycle
bagger so he used a 29x3 wheel in the
front and the back wheel is a 26x5,
which is the widest you can buy. he
back fender is from a Harley-Davidson

cided that the Red Death theme would
go perfect with this competition build.
he front fork and the fender were then
sent to Pro-Fab Powder Coating to be
coated.
Chris wishes to thank Eddie for the
killer paintjob that turns heads wher-
ever the bike is. He also wishes to thank
Robert for the custom wheels, Tim for
building the kickstand and grips, and
John Lerew for constantly keeping him
in line and focused during the build.
Chris extends his thanks to his buddies
Jason and Joe who drove with him
on the 36-hour drive to Vegas for the
Fabricators Face Of. Although he didn’t
win, he represented Florida with class
and creativeness. Finally, he wishes to

A radiator cap is easy to take for granted,
but once it malfunctions it’s not a good
thing. It also happens to be one of the key
components that regulate your cooling
system, thus allowing a certain amount of
pressure to build up in the system before it
opens up, allowing excess pressure to escape.
On older vehicles the internal springs may
wear or malfunction but instead of getting
a cheap Pep Boys substitute cap you can
now pick up one from OER. Each of their caps
feature the correct markings as well as an
accurate cosmetic appearance of the “flat
rivet” in the center of the cap. Please note that
the original caps have long been discontinued
and the current GM replacement unit (and
