Testimony
Example: My Personal Testimony by Scott Fillmer
Summary: This testimony was narrated by a Christian photographer about his life when he
wasn’t an unbeliever at the time even though he was raised in a Christian home with his
parents. After graduating from high school, he left home & also the church so he can follow his
desires, he worked for five years & became materialistic, just to fill up the emptiness in his life
which leads him to seek & find Jesus in his Life. In 1993 he married a woman named Deborah
which is also an unbeliever. Both tried to resist going to church & participating in worship
activities. In their anniversary his wife revealed that she goes to church now & convinces him to
go with her, but he refused to & continue his lifestyle. Then they moved to Birmingham,
Alabama. On April 29, 1994 he went with his wife’s family members to attend a Christian
concert, & that night his life change & prayed to Jesus to come into his life. After few months he
& his wife participated in a baptism at a lake to show their desire to follow Jesus. After several
years, he finally believed in God & devoted his whole life to him.

True Narrative

Summary: the story is about an unnamed girl telling about her life in Her hometown Illinois &
her life in Pennsylvania which made her new to that place & gave her a hard time to get along
with other people & how to fit in with them. This questions her of what home truly is.

Travelogue
Example: Aman’s upcoming global private jet expedition will span Asia & Europe
Summary: the Aman brand turns 30 in 2018, and they’ll be celebrating by stepping up
their private jet game – announcing the 22-day Aman Global Private Jet Expedition that
extends from Tokyo to Venice.
Blog

Summary: In this free 7-day email course I’ll show you the most important steps to help you all
the way from finding your blog topic and setting up your blog (it’s easy these days) to earning
your first side income and growing your audience.

Reflective Essay
Example: Life’s Regrets
Summary: We all do things in life that we regret. We also do things in life that make us proud of
the people that we are. Still, there are things in life that we hope to someday be able to do. All
these things make up who we are and how we've come to be ourselves. Occasionally we'd like
to change the past because of regrets, though this would completely change who we are.
Personal Narrative

Summary: The narrator talks about the Netflix show “ Tidying Up”, a show about proper
organizing & de cluttering of your home, then he says that one should also tidy up & organize
their lives & keep it free from all sorts of negativity, just like cleaning up your home, you should
also do the same thing with your life in order to make it better.
Literary Journalism
Example: The Pitch: a veteran freelancer on pitching The New York Times Magazine and more
Summary: The stories Tullis pitches often explore the gaps between research and policy when it
comes to science and the environment. He’s also covered everything from education to
business to parenting for Bloomberg Businessweek, Time, Scientific American and many others.
He was a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine from 2013 to 2014.
Autobiography
Example: Autobiography of Manuel L. Quezon (from a privilege speech).
Summary: the following dates from 1933. It was published in full in The Tribune on July 26 and
27, 1933. The speech was in connection with the controversy over the Hare-Hawes-Cutting Act.
Former Secretary of the Interior Honorio Ventura launched an attack against Quezon for his
rejectionist attitude to the law. Quezon attacked Ventura. Ventura attacked Quezon. So,
Quezon made a privilege speech in the Senate, and it was published in the papers as the
following autobiography in response. Afterwards, President Quezon said one of the things he
regretted most in his political life was making this speech against Senator Ventura, as it was
mean. However, Quezon and Ventura made amends shortly before Ventura passed away.
Biography
Example: Short Biography of William Shakespeare
Summary: the biography talks about William Shakespeare’s life, his family, & his interest in
creating plays & poems which makes him the most famous poet & playwright everknown.
