I first met Britanny at Dawson Creek Hospital where I fulfilled two roles of employment as a full
time Registered Psychiatric Nurse, and a contracted clinical instructor faculty member at
Stenberg College for acute psychiatric nursing students.
Britanny effectively collaborated with her peers whenever autonomous practice would bring
compromise to safety and the overall balance of the unit milieu. She proved herself to be
effective with respect to her verbal communications, where she was able to balance humour,
empathy, active listening skills and other therapeutic communications, with a warm and friendly
tone.
Although Britanny initially struggled to coherently outline formal and academic writing, she
quickly became more intentional and objective, thereby providing clear, coherent and more
succinct writing skills which far surpassed the standard which she initially presented.
Britanny clearly demonstrated a mature disposition overall, where she competently maintained a
high level of emotional intelligence. This was evidenced in her ability to avoid mere subjectivity
during challenging situations in the unit environment. Although I have not worked with Britanny
in any other context, she communicated evidence of skillfulness in other areas of nursing care
that was not part of the skill set of her clinical instructor.
I have no doubt that Britanny will be a valued member of any team, where her diligence and
strength of personal character will be evident to all with whom she works.
Sincerely,
David Barr.
