Abstract

Soy is the most cultivated crop in the whole world. With the importance of the soybean
crop, the research to increase productivity has been increasing. The use of bio stimulants
has been quite favorable, can improve the growth of roots, making the plant to have a
better resistance to diseases and stress, which can act directly on the increase of
production, most bio stimulants contain amino acids in its formulation, the main amino
acid is the glutamate.
Therefore, the objective was to evaluate the effect of seed treatment with glutamate. There
were used plastic trays with washed sand with 200 seeds in each one and they were
irrigated with 500 ml. Six treatments were used, and the doses of 0, 50, 100, 200, 400 and
800 mg glutamate 100 kg-1 seeds, with four replications. The emergency was done six
and seven days after sowing. The ratings of dry mass, root length and number of
secondary roots were performed at 12 and 18 days. There was no statistical difference in
the emergence, however, root dry mass dose of 200 mg obtained better results, stem the
dose of 50 mg obtained better results, foil the doses of 200, 400, 800 mg obtained better
results, cotyledon doses of 100 and 200 mg 100 kg-1 seeds obtained better results, root
length at a dose of 50 mg 100 kg-1 seeds obtained better results and number of secondary
roots at a dose of 50 mg 100 kg-1 seeds obtained the best result. The increase around the
area absorption provided by the roots may also have reflected in a higher rate of
absorption of nutrients which leads to the further development of the aerial part, verified
by means of the accumulation of dry mass of leaves. As the mechanical resistance, which
strengthens the stem and the vascular tissue, allows for greater growth of plants and favors
a better conduction of water and minerals through the xylem. From the dose of 50 mg 100
kg-1 seeds of glutamate obtained better results comparing to the other doses.
