EXTERNAL SIX-COMPONENT
WIND TUNNEL BALANCE
DESIGN, INSTRUMENTATION
AND APPLICATION
MAIN FEATURES

General arrangement of the external six-component wind tunnel balance

VTI has designed and produced an external six- ·maximum degree of repeatability achieved by
component wind tunnel balance. Its principle of work is design concept,
to apply measured forces and moments directly to ·convenient definition of axes,
load cells. ·motorized control of pitch in the range of -20 to +30
degrees and yaw in the range of +/- 180 degrees
Main features of the balance are the following: (controlled by a PC),
· six measured force components are resolved into ·wind speed range up to 50 m/s,
three force and three moment components, ·recommended dimensions of the wind tunnel test
· components interactions are taken into account section: width 0.4m-0.6m, height 0.4m-0.6m,
during calibration, ·suitable for underfloor mounting.
