Food Habits and Tourism – A Geographical Perspective in Manipur

Food tourism or food and tourism have emerged as a major theme for recent tourism
research. Food tourism defines cuisine as place and is used in many forms and interactions
with tourists. Types and nature of cuisines are influenced by geographical factors like
longitude, latitude, weather, the plantation and vegetation of an area, region or country. This
article is an attempt to study the food habits or rather cuisines of inhabitants of different areas
of Manipur basing on the geographical classification of the State and the different approaches
undertaken to market these areas to attract visitors.
