worth millions of dollars in 2010. These

If you achieve outstanding results, there are many
opportunities to have your talents rewarded at RMIT.
Scholarships for academic achievement reward you on the basis of outstanding results
in VCE (or equivalent). Once you have started your education at RMIT, your exceptional
performance will put you in the running for a range of other scholarships, grants and prizes
that are specific to your field of study.

If you demonstrate outstanding levels of
achievement in your Year 12 results, the
RMIT Achievement Scholarship seeks to
recognise and reward you.
Value $6000 per year for the duration of
the program.
Eligibility To be eligible for the RMIT
Achievement Scholarship, you must be:

permanent resident or a New Zealand

» a high scoring/achieving Year 12 student

» starting a full-time degree program in 2011

Scholarship

If you are a high-achieving Year 12 student
who can demonstrate financial and/or
educational disadvantage, the RMIT Merit
Equity Scholarship seeks to recognise and
support you.
Value $6000 per year for the duration of
the program (for a maximum of three years)
plus $10,000 to contribute to an overseas
educational experience as part of the
program.
Eligibility To be eligible for the RMIT Merit
Equity Scholarship, you must be:
» an Australian citizen, an Australian
permanent resident, or a New Zealand
citizen
» a high-scoring/achieving Year 12 student
in 2010
» starting a degree in 2011
» able to demonstrate financial difficulties
and/or educational disadvantage
» studying in a full-time program.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
School of Computer Science and IT Scholarship
for High Achieving Students

If you are applying for a degree program in Computer Science
and IT and can demonstrate outstanding results in Year 12,
the School of Computer Science and IT Scholarship for High
Achieving Students can make a contribution towards your study
and living costs.
Value Up to $9000 over three years. $1500 paid each
semester.
Eligibility To be eligible for the School of Computer Science
and IT Scholarship for High Achieving Students you must:
» be a prospective degree student applying to commence a
full-time study program in 2011 in:
» Computer Science (VTAC Code 32831), or
» Computing and Internet Technology (VTAC Code 31221), or
» Information Technology (VTAC Code 33331), or
» Software Engineering (VTAC Code 32261), or
» Games and Graphics Programming (VTAC Code 32191)
» be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident or a
New Zealand citizen
» have completed the Year 11 and 12 prerequisites for
your preference
» be able to demonstrate high levels of achievement in
your Year 12 results.
How to apply You do not apply for this scholarship, but you
must apply for one of the above programs via VTAC. When Year
12 results are released in January, the School will select the top
students and contact them to arrange an interview. Students will
need to be available to attend an interview in early February to
be eligible.
Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)
Undergraduate Academic Merit Entry Scholarship
D RMIT
If you are applying for a degree program in Electrical and
Computer Engineering and can demonstrate outstanding
results in Year 12, the ECE Academic Merit Entry Scholarship
can make a contribution towards your study and living costs.
Value An annual stipend of $8000 per year for the first two
years of your degree. Scholarships are paid via fortnightly
payments to a nominated bank account.
Eligibility To be eligible for the ECE Academic Merit Entry
Scholarship you must:
» be a prospective degree student applying to commence
a full-time study program in 2011 in:
» Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (VTAC Code 33291), or
» Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering)

School of Aerospace, Mechanical and
Manufacturing Engineering Women in
Engineering Scholarship

If you are a female student applying for a degree program in
Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and
can demonstrate outstanding results in Year 12, the Women in
Engineering Scholarship can make a contribution towards your
study and living costs.
Value $5000 paid in the first year of the program made up of
two instalments of $2500.
Eligibility To be eligible for the Women in Engineering
Scholarship you must:
» be a female prospective degree student applying to
commence a full-time study program in Aerospace,
Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in 2011
» be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, a humanitarian
visa holder, a New Zealand citizen or an international student
» have/expect to achieve an Australian Tertiary Admissions
Rank (ATAR) or Year 12 equivalent score of 95 and above
(must have completed Year 12 or equivalent in Australia
in 2009/2010)
» maintain at least satisfactory academic performance
» demonstrate leadership experience in a societal or
cultural setting.

SCHOLARSHIPS
If you want to make a difference to the economic,
social, environmental and cultural wellbeing of
communities through research excellence, RMIT
can support you through Research Scholarships.
Australian Postgraduate Award (APA)
E P R RMIT
If you are undertaking a research Masters or Doctoral degree
on the basis of academic excellence and research potential,
you could be awarded a Commonwealth Government funded
Australian Postgraduate Award (APA).
Value A stipend of $22,500 per annum full-time (2010 rate)
for up to three years for Doctoral students, or up to two years
for Master students. All award holders will be allocated a
government-funded Research Training Scheme place,
or equivalent.
Eligibility To be eligible for an Australian Postgraduate Award,
you must:
» be an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen or
an Australian permanent resident, or have lodged an
application for permanent resident status
» have completed at least four years of tertiary education at
a very high level of achievement (i.e. first class honours or
equivalent) at an Australian or recognised overseas university
» be a student planning on studying at RMIT and currently
enrolled in a research program.

If you are undertaking a research Doctoral degree on the basis
of academic excellence and research potential, you may be
eligible for an RMIT PhD Scholarship. Scholarships are offered
in areas that align with an identified School or College research
strength, Research Institute or RMIT Research Centre.
Value A stipend of $25,500 per annum full-time (2010 rate)
for three years. All award holders will be allocated a government-
funded Research Training Scheme place, or equivalent.
Eligibility To be eligible for an RMIT PhD Scholarship,
you must:
» be an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen or an
Australian permanent resident, or have lodged an application
for permanent resident status
» have completed at least four years of tertiary education at

If you are a student who intends to progress from an RMIT
Diploma to a degree at RMIT, or an RMIT degree student
who has already progressed from an RMIT Diploma, you
may be eligible for the Northcote Trust Scholarship. This
scholarship aims to develop your potential to make outstanding
contributions to the lives of other students, local communities
and society in general.
Value
» Diploma: $17,000 over three years ($2000 in the
Diploma and $7500 per year for two years in the degree).
» Degree: $15,000 over two years ($7500 per year for
two years).
Eligibility To be eligible for the Northcote Trust Scholarship,
you must:
» be an Australian citizen or the holder of a permanent
humanitarian visa
» be undertaking a state government subsidised Diploma
or Advanced diploma at RMIT and looking to progress
to a degree program in the same or a complementary
field of study, or have progressed to a degree program
from a Diploma or advanced Diploma in the same or a
complimentary field of study
» not have previously completed a degree
» be able to demonstrate educational disadvantage

If you want a global passport, RMIT is committed to
providing you with learning, teaching, research and
training to excel in an open-world economy.
To complement a program of study that is internationally relevant, most RMIT students can
build an international component into their programs. This might include overseas study
and work placements, taking part in an overseas project or showing work in international
exhibitions. A range of scholarships and grants are available to support students in meeting

Innovations, Platform Technologies or Design, you may be
able to apply for the Endeavour International Postgraduate
Research Scholarship.
RMIT has particular expertise in these areas and has
concentrated research resources to attract grants from outside
sources. Successful applicants usually become members of a
research team working under the direction of senior researchers.

» Tuition fees.
» Covers the cost of a standard Overseas Student Health
Cover policy for the student, their spouse and dependants
(if any) for the period of the Endeavour IPRS.
» No living allowance is provided.
Eligibility To be eligible for the Endeavour International
Postgraduate Research Scholarship, you must:
» be a citizen from an overseas country (citizens from
New Zealand not eligible)
