Artifact Reflection #2

This is a group essay that was assigned in my english class. In this essay we were asked

to defend our position that the world would be a better place without internet. We learned how to

write a persuading, strong, organized essay that defended our opinion. To complete this

assignment we read several stories together in class, some were pro internet and others were anti

internet. Then, the teacher broke us up into groups and had us write and essay defending a side

that we agreed with. In our groups we assigned roles so the group was evenly distributed.

I would say this artifact represents analysis. I would define analysis as a detailed

examination of something. This artifact fits that category because we had to analyze how the

world would be with and without internet and choose which side we thought was better. We also

had to analyze the stories we read together in class to come to a conclusion and to use for

evidence in our essay.

I demonstrated advanced skills in this artifact. I would define advanced skills as

demonstrating proficiency in reading, writing and\or math. I showed proficiency in writing with

this artifact because the teacher said it was one of the best written ones in the class. In this essay

we had to analyze stories, look at a problem from both sides and pick which side we agreed with.

I can use this skill in the future to help me make better decisions. I will also know to to defend

my decisions with evidence in the future.

Some challenges we encountered with this essay were coming up with a rebuttal and

typing with the correct format. We also struggled with communication in the group and some

group members were confused about the assignment. We showed strength in being able to state a

thesis and backing it up with evidence. In the future i need to improve on my communication and

typing skills.
