Sikagard®-700 S
Siloxane Based Water Repellent Impregnation

®
Product Description Sikagard -700 S is a one-component solvent containing, low viscosity,
water repellent reactive impregnation for cementitous substrates, based on
Alkylalkoxy-Siloxane.
Suitable for use in hot and tropical climates.

Uses Sikagard -700 S is used as a colourless water-repellent impregnation
compound for absorbent substrates e.g.:
- Concrete (including pre-cast)
- Mineral renderings
- SikaTop and Sika MonoTop mortars and pore-sealers
It is also used as a hydrophobic primer underneath Sikagard-680 S and
Sikagard-550 W Elastic on concrete.

- Reduces capillary water absorption
- Improves resistance to frost
- Reduces penetration of pollutants dissolved in water such as chloride salts
- Reduces efflorescence
- Protection against driving rain on vertical areas
- No noticeable change in water vapour permeability
- Does not affect the concrete surface

Storage Condition Store in original sealed containers in a cool and dry environment between
5ºC and 35ºC away from direct sunlight.

Shelf life 12 months minimum from production date if stored properly in original
unopened packaging.

Consumption Approximately 0.15 kg/m (0.185 l/m ) per coat, depending on absorbency of
substrate. Apply 2-3 coats wet on wet.

Application
Surface preparation: Substrate must be sound, free from dust, dirt, loose particles, oil, grease,
efflorescence and existing coatings. Clean substrate mechanically,
preferably by high-pressure steam or water jetting. Best results are achieved
on dry, well absorbing substrates. Maximum moisture content: 5%.
Minimum age of concrete or mortar: at least 4 weeks.
If to be overcoated, observe the required substrate conditions.

Mixing: Sikagard -700 S is supplied ready for use and must not be diluted.

Application method: Apply in excess by brush, roller or suitable spray equipment (no compressed
air). Apply evenly wet on wet in 2-3 coats.

Overcoating Waiting times: Minimum 5 hrs

Maximum 1 week

Cleaning Clean application equipment with Sika Colma Cleaner immediately after
use.

Important - Sikagard -700 S can also be overcoated with Sikagard- 680S, Sikagard-
550 W Elastic and Sikagard-ElastoColor W.
- A solvent free version is available - Sikagard-701 W
- Building parts which still need to be painted, must be securely covered to

avoid contact with Sikagard -700 S.
- Window frames need to be protected from being accidentally contaminated

with Sikagard -700 S.

- Sikagard -700 S contains solvents, which could damage synthetic
material and bituminous products.

Safety
Precautions Product contains flammable solvents. Observe relevant instructions:
- Keep away from fire, do not smoke
- Only use in well ventilated areas
- Wear goggles and plastic gloves
Ecology Product contaminates water. Do not dispose of into water or soil but
according to local regulations. Contains weak, air contaminating substrates.
After cure no negative influences on environment are known.
Toxicity Class 4, under the relevant Swiss health and safety codes.
