MORAL CONFLICT (PART ONE) is a Nigerian/British comedy feature film

about a pastor who forms a gospel choir with a bunch of people who
cannot sing, but who eventually save his church from going under.

CAST

In the process PASTOR CHUCKS, (40s) Black British, is also having

problems in his marriage, as his meddling Nigerian mother TOPE, (65) does
not think his white English wife DENICE (30s) is good enough for him.

DENICE (30s) White, slim, blond and pretty, wife of pastor Chucks. She loves
him but he is not paying her any attention plus she is facing pressure from her
Nigerian mother-in-law.
Will it all get too much for her?

Pastor Chucks has two lovely mix- race British born daughters SHANICE (14)
and SUMMER (9), who always question the decision their father makes and
are not familiar with their African routes especially their grandma!

Currently the pastor only has five active members in his church BEV (50 -60)
white, who enjoys making cups of tea and adding brandy to drink her tea in
the process.

BEV (50s -60s) White, slender, able to speak in an Irish/Walsh/Scottish

accent, Bev is quite forthright and speaks her mind. She likes a bit of brandy
in her tea and loves making tea for everyone, a busy body character.
One of the loyal members of the church who finds out that the church is going
to be reprocessed and tries her best with the choir to save the church by
organising a concert. (A wonderfully humorous and interesting supporting role
for a talented mature actress).

1
LUCINDA (40s) a big robust woman (Jamaican British), she is rich and in love
with Pastor Chucks. She gives her money generously to help the church.

Only, for one major reason and that is to win the attention and love of Pastor
Chucks. Lucinda is a successful rich black career woman and has everything
she wants except a man and not just any man it must be only Pastor Chucks.

Lucinda is a woman who knows what she wants and is not prepared to give
up easily not until she gets her man by any means necessary.

Actress most be ready to become the villain in the film. Most feel comfortable
acting the antagonist. It is one of the major starring roles in the film therefore it
would be preferable for a more experience actress with good timing, a meaty
role that will stretch any black actress and make the next star ‘Alexis’ like in
the American TV drama Dynasty in the 1980s!

Bishop Ade is all flash with no substance! (30s) Black, slim, very stylish and
friend to Pastor Chucks he attends the audition as one of the panel in the
hope to find pretty women and advises Pastor Chucks that it is not about
preaching that old fashion message of salvation that does not attract people
to come to church but it is all about the glamour and miracles and pretty
women of course.

Actor needs to look slick and act trendy! Experienced black male actor only.

Choir Members

Break down of characters for casting

FRANK (56+) Ex-British military officer looks like Michael Hastime, white,
speaks very posh and behaves very militant as he was previously in the army.
He auditions for the choir and shocks them with his performance as he wears
a youth cap back to front to look hip and choir robe and tries to sing like a
black man! (big mistake)

Eventually in the film his militant manner helps strengthen the people in the
choir as he takes charge of the silly things they get up to.

Frank has a secret however he abandoned his son and wife and joined the
military he is trying to reconnect with his son and grand daughter but William
does not want to know.

Actor most be experienced and be able to have quick timing, compelling, and
has presence. Some experience acting comedy would be desirable.

JANET (20s) white, insecure, lap table dancer auditions as she thinks joining
a choir will clean her soul. (Must be able to sing as will be singing in film)

but with the encouragement and love of Troy they both audition together and
their singing actually redeems the choir only there is heart break as Troy hurts
her deeply by hiding the truth about his sickle cell. (Most be able to really sing
as well as act!)

EARL (50s) Black West Indian father of Tanya, the role is quite witty and
humorous most have good timing as it is a comedic role yet serious.

PATRICIA (50s) Black, West Indian, wife of Earl and mother of Tanya, she is
patient and wise and a very beautiful lady. She only wants what’s best for
Tanya. Actress must have good timing, facial expression, wit, and some
experience of acting drama.

TALIKA (20) Black very pretty and vein. (Again singing role most be able to
really sing) Talika is not pleased when she sings backing vocals only and
wants to be in the front after all she is the prettiest.

MOIRA (60s) Black/White old lady who attends the audition and in the
process collapses in the process of her singing (I Surrender All) Comedic role
& part of the choir most be able to sing. Note: Colour is not a major issue
for this role although in the script she is mentioned as a black lady but it
does not matter whether you or black or white but you most be able to
act and most importantly sing and enjoy performing as their will be
some live singing during the concert.

manager and advises Talika that there is only one direction her singing is
going and that’s to the gutter.

WILLIAM (25 to early 30s) White, bulky, he is angry with his dad Frank for
abandoning him and his mother. William is by no means ready to forgive
Frank or give his father another chance.
