Alumni Fundraising Drive

Graduating Batch-
1) Student Caution Deposit: IIM Ahmedabad as an institution, at the time of admission,
takes a caution deposit from each student. A psychological trait called House Money
Effect could be leveraged here as the graduating students are fairly open with how
they will want to spend this money. A lot of the students end up donating this
money to one cause or another. We, at Prayaas, could appeal to the students for our
cause and generate funding for our initiatives.

2) First Salary: In India, first salary carries a sentimental value. And individuals use their
first salary to buy gifts for their friends and family as a token of appreciation for their
support and help. It is a way of giving back to the people. We can create an initiative
where the graduating students would pledge a fraction of their first salary to
Prayaas. To make it more palatable and practical, the First Salary need to be
symbolic and the alumni can pay within 6 months of graduating as deem
appropriate.

Existing Alumni-
1) Synchrony Registration: Prayaas can partner with Alumni Cell to generate funding
from the alumni. Given that Synchrony is a big contributor of funds for the Alumni
Cell, the partnership has to be managed to the mutual benefit of both. One of these
ways could be that the registering alumni eligible for early bird discount can forgo
the discount in favour of pledging that amount to Prayaas initiatives, thus creating a
win-win situation for all.

2) Alumni Meet: Prayaas could leverage the alumni meets being organized on campus
on an annual basis. A short teaser/ presentation on Prayaas could be included as a
part of the Alumni Meet where Prayaas could appeal to the alumni to contribute to
the cause.
