1. About Project Management Course.

Project Management is an approach which can be used in varying situations - from

organizational change management to construction /infrastructural projects. The course
relies on a network-based project management framework and project life-cycle which is
broken into organizing, planning, monitoring, controlling and learning from old and current
projects. Student will also learn how to study the overall impact of a project from different
stakeholder perspectives. Students learn the methodologies and tools necessary for each
aspect of the process as well as the theories upon which these are built. Use of case method
and Simulation is expected to give them the necessary skills to apply the framework for
developing a Project and to effectively manage the same.

2. Course Learning Objectives mapped to Programme Learning Objectives (PLOs)

i. Analyse and evaluate alternate methodologies for analysing customer requirements and
translating the same into a project framework (PLO3b)
ii. Learn to accomplish unique outcomes with limited resources under critical time
constraints and to understand the cost-value-time trade-offs involved in project
management
iii. Understand projects from a managerial perspective ,i.e. not only the project life cycle
but also the project dynamics, during evaluation, execution, control and termination.

7. Grading or Evaluation tools other than Examinations

Individual assignment – Simulation (15 marks)
The Simulation will be individually run and the performance at the simulation will be valued
out of 5. The Analysis of the performance (which has to be submitted as a written assignment)
will be valued out of 10

 Group Assignments (Two cases)
Each group will have to submit a Case Analysis work sheet (hard copy) prior to discussion in
the class. (2 marks)After the case is discussed a summary will have to be submitted – uploaded
in Moodle (3 marks)
Each case will thus be valued out of 5 (2 x5=10)

10. Course requirements

Students are required to come prepared for each session by reading the respective handouts/
chapters reference material given in this course plan.
Case analysis worksheet as per format will have to be submitted as per schedule for the two
cases. Attendance in Simulation session is mandatory.
