Writer’s Workshop   

This week in Writer’s Workshop, 


first graders worked on writing 
reviews and using writing to 
share their opinions. They 
learned that to convince a 
reader, you need to include not   
just one, but many reasons why  ORDER YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLIES NOW - NO

Fundations  you are ordering for your childʼs grade in September 
First graders kicked off Unit 10 in Fundations this week!  2019.  
During this unit, we will not learn any new sounds but will   
learn how to blend and segment up to five sounds in a  Please note, this is an optional program and is not a 
closed syllable. We will learn about different types of  fundraiser. If you would prefer to buy your own school

This week, first graders learned two new trick words:

We began the week investigating finding tens and some  March 28th​: Early Release (12:15pm) 
more on the number line. First graders reflected on the  April 9th​: Delayed Opening (10:05am) 
structure of addition problems, finding equations that  April 10th​: ​Field Trip to BID Hospital  
had missing  Permission Slips to be sent home soon 
starting numbers,  (Mr.. Daitch and Mrs. Teehan/Lansdale) 
jumping numbers,  or 
April 15th - 19th​: April Recess 
landing numbers.  We 
also worked on  April 22nd​: Classes Resume 
using our place   
value knowledge to   
solve addition problems in a snap.
