Umm Salamah (the Prophet’s wife)
narrates this story:
“By God! Ali was the final person who
communicated with Prophet Muhammed
beside me.”(2)
Prophet Muhammed (M) conveyed all
knowledge and Islamic teachings to
Imam Ali (P). Imam Ali (P) recorded
the material in a book to be passed on
to his sons as written proof.
The concerns Prophet Muhammed (M)
showed in his final hours to convey the
treasures of divine knowledge to the
true leaders of Islam and interpreters
of the Holy Quran show his effort in

of the Islamic rituals are mentioned in
the Holy Quran. The interpretation and
detailed account of the Holy Quran is
with the Prophet and the early teachers of
Islam. Prophet Muhammed (M) would
convey all that was revealed to him and
that which humanity would need until
the Day of Judgment, to his cousin Imam
Ali (P), who would then convey the same
to the Imams after him.
The revelations of God to Prophet
Muhammed (M) can be divided into

Lady Fatimah (P) said, ‘It seems you
had sent him on a task?’
A while later Ali (P) returned. I understood
the Prophet wanted to speak with Ali (P),
so I left the room with the others and
sat outside the room. I was closer to the
room than the rest.
The Prophet (M) called Ali (P) close
to himself and began to whisper and
maintaining the religion and protecting
the Islamic Ummah. The period of
preaching the teachings of Islam begins
during the life of the Holy Prophet and
the Infallible Imams are responsible for
continuing this great task.

This continued until the Prophet was

same day. And so the final person who
conversed with the Prophet (M) was Ali

Let us now turn to the report of Imam
Ali (P) about that day and that session:
“The Messenger of God, Muhammed (M),
in his final hours of sickness said, ‘My
brother, come to me.’
Then he told me, ‘Come closer to me.’
I went close to him. He leaned on me and
began talking to me until he passed away

A man used to sit frequently in the shadow of his
neighbour’s wall. He came to know that the neighbour
was in heavy debt and was about to sell his house
to pay the debt. He said that he always enjoyed the
shadow of the neighbour’s wall and did not pay
anything for that; so, he presented to the neighbour
the price of his house and told him that, since he had
received the price, he should not sell it.
Prophet Muhammed said: “Angel Gabriel kept
praising my neighbor to me until I thought he was
to be my designated heir.”
