SYNOPSIS

1. TITLE OF THE PROJECT: “NEW TRENDS AND TECHNOLOGY ADOPTED IN


ACCOMMODATION OPERATIONS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO HOTEL
GRAND MERCURE MYSORE”

2. INTRODUCTION:

Accommodation is one of the basic needs for any tourism activity. Travelers and tourists need lodging
for rest, while they are on a tour. Accommodation in the form of low budget lodges/hotels to world
class luxury hotels is available at all the major tourist destinations to provide the tourist a home away
from home. These are establishments that provide a place for the tourist to stay i.e. lodging facilities
which are paid for the duration of the stay by the tourist. There are various types of accommodation
which are being used by tourists regularly.

Accommodation operations are an important and integral part of the guest experience and satisfaction.
The impact of the accommodation operations function on the success of a hotel’s operations cannot be
underestimated, since large revenue for hotel industry is generated mainly from the sale of rooms. The
accommodation operation is the department of a hotel charged with cleaning and maintaining rooms
and public spaces. From the time a guest checks-in in a hotel till he checks out, it is the accommodation
operations department which takes care of the guest by making his/her stays pleasant and comfortable.

The hotel industry may be rooted in old-fashioned hospitality, but it’s also constantly breaking
new ground with its technological innovations. It has to, really, if it’s to keep pace with evolving
consumer demands. And as new technology emerges it gives flight to new guest expectations,
which in turn fuel new advances in technology.

 To study about the trends in housekeeping department.

star hotel.

 Explore the technologies used in housekeeping.

4. OBJECTIVES OF STUDY

 To explore the concepts of trends in housekeeping.
