SUBJECT: SC CODE 672, 672-11 OR 672-12 OCCURS

SYMPTOM:
A Service Code SC672, SC672-11 or SC672-12 occurs.

CAUSE:
The Operation Panel communicates with a controller through USB cable and IPU. When the Operation Panel
cannot communicate with a controller, the Operation Panel displays SC672 or SC672-11 or SC672-12.

The MFP displays the Service Code constantly or intermittently during a print or copy job. Sometimes after
rebooting the MFP code clears and appears after some time.

These are following possibilities or causes:

 Failure of the USB communication path or Damaged USB connector ( Fig 1 USB harness Part
Number D1495225)
 No response from controller
 Bad Memory DIMM or IPU
 Incorrect procedure followed during converting regular operation panel to smart operation panel or
vice versa.

Step 2: Check FCU and Controller PCB

Remove the FCU and check the operation. If SC672 still occur’s, replace the controller or the DIMM. If no
error occurs, exchange the FCU. If the jumper switch on the FCU is OFF, set the switch to ON.
